  If you felt/feel that you had/have good, close "friends" in the org, how did/does it feel to just give them up?

  this is my biggest dilema.

  although mentally i really feel i could walk away from the org right now, i still have genuine love for the people i have come to know over the years.

  i love people!.

  New Here....and a Brief Intro

  after lurking around here for about a month, i thought it's appropriate to introduce myself to such fine group of people.. i was never a jw.

  been married to a baptized mate for over 15 years.

  my wife was never technically all in, more of a fader, rarely went to meetings, the occasional memorial, a convention once or twice.

  my obsessed jw relative had another witness come and visit for a few weeks in her home.

  the witness woman is around 225 lbs.

  My mother-in-law freaked out on her daughter because she was listening to non-English music. Her reasoning was that since she couldn't understand the lyrics, it could be demonic.

  So that's Daemonophobia and Xenophobia in one crazy package!

  How I obtained my personal files from Bethel

  it has taken me a long time, but i have finally put together an article outlining how i used the law to force bethel to send me my personal files.

  in brief, in 2006 i requested that bethel send me my files on the basis that the australian privacy act 1988 entitles people to receive a copy of any information a corporation holds about them.

  Putting the 'probability argument' against abiogenesis in the grave once and for all

  amongst the many arguments for and against creation the probability arguments stands out.

  the improbability of generating the necessary proteins by chanceor the genetic information to produce themto balloon beyond comprehension.

  ... the odds of getting even one functional protein of modest length (150 amino acids) by chance from a prebioitc soup is no better than 1 chance in 10164. meyer continues, another way to say that is the probability of finding a functional protein by chance alone is a trillion, trillion, trillion, trillion, trillion, trillion, trillion, trillion times smaller than the odds of finding a single specific particle among all the particles in the universe.. the evidence for the probability of origin of life arising from darwins warm little pond seems to have vanished beyond the realm of any possibilityregardless of any early earth scenario.. i really, really want to put it in the grave because i think its an embaressment to the theists and thinking humans in general; its right up there with 'noahs ark has been found' and 'humans have less chromosomes than monkeys', but for some reason people dont see through it.

  Nice work, bohm! Well stated, and I like the rice analogy.

  The 'probability theists' also overlook another simple fact: there wasn't just one opportunity for proteins to form. We're talking millions of combinations and reactions per second, for millions of years.

  An example: flipping a coin and getting heads 1,000 times in a row...what are the odds? What is the probability? Pretty damn low, especially with one coin being flipped over and over again. But flip a million coins, once every second, for millions of years. The numbers start to skew in the other direction.

  I don't know if abiogenesis is true. But the probability/chance arguments don't hold much water, in my opinion.

  Sigh. She sounds just like my mom.

  I'm sure Flipper Jr. is able to see right through this. It's so sad that he can't even have a reasonable, intelligent exchange with his own mother. I know how that feels.
