  Question From Readers reveals dependent state of JWs

  in view of what deuteronomy 4:15-23 has to say about the making of any graven image, would it be considered scripturally correct.

  I have been looking but can't seem to find a copy of a QFR type letter I read once in one of the old magazines. This was back when a person could actually send a letter to Brooklyn and have it printed with a reply. In any case, this person had a problem with some of the young married couples in the congregation who seemed to be having sex for reasons other than procreation.

  It reminded me of some of the crotchety old ones in my first hall. They hated everything and everyone but Jah and the Prez.

  I really wish I could find a scan of that... I can't remember if it was in the Golden Age or the Watch Tower.

  Fam'ly ambush led to reproach brought on JW brand name

  in the aftermath of the family intervention ambush, i got a phone call from my great uncle (never been a jw).

  he told me he'd heard about my wife reading my e-mail and taking it to the elders (although she didn't actually show them the e-mail, just reported its contents).

  apparently, my grandmother told him about it.

  This week, I was granted an inside peek into the world of folks who, despite their preaching and pestering, remain aloof and unknowable.

  But what about the "trumpet blasts"? The "magnifying Jah's name"? The "preaching the good news of the Kingdom"? 100 years in the community, and people still don't know exactly what they stand for.

  Faders are indeed a very large doormat

  sorry, to be so blunt- for a whole day i have watched people here patting themselves on the back- we're a large army, oohh, look out wt, we might do something, well not today or tomorrow, but someday!

  maybe, i have to just accept that a lot of jw's who are exiting the kh by the back door will never find a backbone to stand up to mummy and elder daddy.. jw's have a learned ability to see themselves in a better light than everyone else sees them.

  ask a jw, if they are a charitable religion and they would likely all say they are, but when pressed to name a charity they will be unable to do so.

  Hmm. Should we define different types of faders? Or have we already?

  I was born-in. I would consider myself a fader simply because I haven't DA'd or been DF'd. I stopped attending meetings, I have refused to meet with the elders, and in conversation with others I have asserted my right to educate myself and make informed decisions.

  I can't imagine how awful it must be to continue to attend meetings year after year, knowing what I know. Everyone has their reasons for doing what they do - and some are really putting themselves through a lot for the sake of family and others. I hope things work out for all of you, regardless of your chosen method of leaving.

  How would you describe your Congregation

  i would describe my congregation on the whole as quite wooden ad robotic.

  though there are some genuine sincere and loving brothers/sisters, there is overall something missing in my hall.

  i dont feel incited to love and fine works by the brothers.. i find the boe as a whole - to be quite distant.

  The Lord Of The Rings and other fairy-tales

  damn,many jws claim that lord of the rings is "demonic" "satanic" "promotes spiritualism" and that fairies,goblins,trolls and other fantasy creatures are satan's minions and that we should not read/watch etc anything like that.however,elves and the rest are not real and the stories are fictional.can't a jw read a sci-fi or fantasy book?pffff.
