our 'beloved' old faith tried to teach us to hate other religions and all things that smacked of anything that was worldly.
they demonized all things outside of their religion.. are some of us in danger of carrying that same thinking over to our new lives as former jws?
could some here at first start out as an anti-cultist but in time allow this to become a 'religion' in itself?.

DannyBear,
That is why I cannot agree with IW that the watchtower is not EVIL,
I said nothing about the Watchtower being evil or not evil. I just expressed my opinion that to labor at 'religious' fighting just as we labored in the Watchtower may, for some, not be the healthiest of things. That is all. Demonization of anything becomes mind control, the thing abhorred becomes the thing which controls the actions and thoughts of the victim. As long as that is the case the victim is not free.
'Moving on' is just, moving on with life. It means living for our families, our friends, and for ourselves. After spending years in the Watchtower, should we after leaving still agonize over missed years and opportunities even for years afterward? Some have spent decades angry and emotionally crippled because of hating the Watchtower.
This is a waste of life. Truly a waste of life, but this time of our own making.

Hi Gizmo,
Yes, that movie is one of my all time favorites also. Keep trying to make it happen in my own life, who knows maybe it will.

Hi DJ,
It just so happened that I was playing the soundtrack to the movie "Somewhere In Time" when you posted.
If you have not heard that soundtrack yet, try to find it. It is some of the most soul soothing and heart calming music I have ever heard.
May God be with you,

Are some of us in danger of carrying that same thinking over to our new lives as former JWs? Are we now 'demonizing' the Watchtower? Could some here at first start out as an anti-cultist but in time allow this to become a 'religion' in itself?
I think we can. I think we can demonize the Watchtower beyond what is reality or healthy.
I say this not in defense of the Watchtower but really in defense of our own mental well being and balanced thinking. There are many xJWs who have left and not only do not post here but have made a new life for themselves on their own. Yes, some were DF, some have lost children to the blood issue, some are shunned by family and friends and they are also unable to see their grandchildren and have been prevented from attending the wedding of their own son or daughter. Yet, they move on. The Watchtower is no longer a god but neither is it a satan. For them, it is simply nothing.
I believe that when we're ready, imitating their example of moving on is something to be seriously considered if we haven't already done so.

a modern creation story
in the beginning god created the heavens and the earth.
and the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep.
And when the High Priestess of Nod refused to bow down to the Great Kosmokrator sol invictus while also refusing to call out, "neither god nor leader" before all onlookers, the sol invictus himself vowed to seal her up in the House of Imprisonment, the guarded house of Hades
The Great Kosmokrator then blew upon the winds of heaven causing the four winds of Hades to carry off the High Priestess to the House of Imprisonment, the great house of brick and mortar without windows or doors and guarded by seven demon gods and four serpents.
And upon the house he placed a warning: "Let neither man nor beast enter for within lies the Medusa which I the Great Kosmokrator will slay before all men."
There she sat this great sinner and High Priestess. There in the darkness she sat and twirled her 'hair' and with a sigh declared, "Well, if this is the way it is then I shall not tary any longer for my love awaits and how can I stand to be here all alone? This is after all a great silliness and not to mention such a bother." She then lifted her skirts and after fiddling with the many petticoats and such, found the very thing she needed; the key to the house with no doors. Otherwise known to all who do not live in fairytales as a bulldozer.
She thereupon climbed upon this monster machine and made for herself a doorway which unfortunately, as the bricks fell violently to the ground, also crushed the demon gods standing on the other side of the wall. But the serpents being cautious and wise knew that to remain near the walls of the house imprisoning the Medusa was to court death and so they remained far away from the walls and escaped death.
Upon noticing the wisdom displayed by the serpents the Medusa said to them, "Come and join my headdress O wise and cautious serpents, with this they became a part of Medusa's headdress.
She then ran to find her love. Upon finding him she bowed respectfully and pleaded with him saying, "Love, why do we quarrel so? You are you and I, well, I am me.
"I will bow but I will never say: 'The Great Kos is neither god nor leader!'. You are the sol invictus I am nothing, only the dust beneath your feet and where you walk I fear to tread."
The Great Kosmokrator knew the High Priestess was lying because whenever she lied the serpents on her head would become agitated and blood would drip like saliva from their mouths. But by now he was tired of trying to get her to obey and so like all men before him, he relented.
Till this day the Great Kosmokrator sol invictus continues to reside in the Temple of Mithras and the High Priestess of Nod, the Medusa, the one from the Island of darkness, still walks about declaring him to be both god and leader.
No disclaimers are necessary, this is a fairytale.
