  news about the DO Shepparding program!!!

  the governing body has decided to launch a pilot program of shepherding district overseers and their wives.

  why is this needed?

  everyone has an arrangement for personal shepherding except district overseers and their wives.

  D.O.'s are "out of the way" generally. Congregation problems that cannot be dealt with by the elders go to CO or Bethel direct. I reckon they are reining in the D.O.'s by using Bethel heavies to follow the party line.

  Not too long before resigning as an elder in about 2003 there was one time I was aware of a pedo problem that I was involved with as a "concerned elder" (but not directly in the loop) which resulted in the CO and DO meeting with me to hear my views.

  My CO had hardly said a word and blew me off when tackled by me previously but I went to the DO and he granted me a meeting with him and my CO. When the DO was there the DO led and he was very open about inconsistencies in how the org. handles child molestation. The CO kept looking at him in a "Wow, are you really saying this to a mere elder?" sort of way.

  It was all done in a hand-wringing way but it made me see that there are good intentioned but fearful men among the CO's and DO's.

  Are they really closing down branches in Martinique, Guadeloupe and French Guyana ?

  i just got this information on the phone, from a local jw family member : the society is definitely downsizing its worldwide institutional network and they intend to disband their bethels in the three french overseas departements of martinique, guadeloupe an french guyana.

  i've not heard about the fourth departement la reunion in the indian ocean but i gather that they might go the same way there.. i wonder , what about the decent amount of money i donated to them in order to build one of those bethels , is it bound to be siphoned off to brooklyn ?

  objection, that was not included in the deal.

  i am curious.

  were (are) there certains ones in the congregation that elders do not offer counsel to because of family ties, connections, or that the families or characters within that family are outspoken?.

  Elders are fair and just at all times ... then one of their "little darlings" needs counsel and watch the panties pucker up into a bunch!

  I have known elders be very resolute in dealing with "big shot elders" and their lids and I have known elders be incredibly weak and cowardly. It's very political and depends on the mood in your elder body in your congo at the time.

  since about valentines day ive been visiting a particular message forum thats much like any other internet babble-board except that the women are a little creepier.

  theres this one chick who, i noticed right away, is kind of clever with the one-liners and such, and when i first noticed how many of her posts were replies to my own, i chalked this up to her being just one of those innocently gregarious types who responds to pretty much everyone in topic.. .

  in the six or seven months since, however, ive noticed that this isnt really true.

  Further to what cattails said - I agree.

  They will be on to the nameless drone in the service dept. for "guidance" who may decide that you have shown lying as in "brazen" loose conduct in recording it - this is the new catch-all phrase that Brooklyn uses to justify a d/f when they feel like it.

  Your ace in the hole is that you have a recording and the local boys won't want to be all over the net with their judicial process.

  A close call that could go either way. Outside chance they'll do a deal - as in you let one of their techhy savvy boys delete the recording (tho' they cannot be sure you've not spread it already ) and then they will view you as repentant. Nah! Perhaps not.

  I reckon they will d/f because Brooklyn doesn't mind letting it's elders hang out to dry unless of course there was something damning against Brooklyn itself on the recording.

  All in all, on balance I think you will be d/f'd.

  there have been a number of posts made about the watchtower society closing or downsizing branch offices and i think the hard consequences of this desperate move have not been fully appreciated.. ok, so you have c.o.

  's all over the place and who do they report to exactly?

  i believe various brothers (and lawyers) have pointed out the danger of having a catholic style chain of command and centralized leadership.

  i reckon that the sentence at the start of paragraph two of the letter to elders that says "in view of the good results and for other practical reasons, it is now felt that the pioneer assist others program has accomplished its purpose.

  " (italics mine) is legal cya because if a pioneer goofs up and injures (while driving?

  ) or molests an assistee then there is a direct link to the wts because a pioneer is society appointed.. follow the dollars ....

  a predatory jw paedophile micheal porter (uk) who has a 15 year record of abuse including the rape of his own baby but somehow evaded jail now is a member of my old congregation;wimbledon.

  words fail me, to think of the years of shunning that these idiots have heaped upon me even by my own family and this piece of shit was seen a this years memorial laughing and joking with the congregation.

  strange that this news story slipped passed me when it was broadcast by the british media in 2007..

  Thanks Podo - but you cover very little - this cannot have a retrial - it has already gone to the appeal court and Porter was jailed. You cannot have a retrial of an appeal at this level of crime. I am amazed you do not know this. Why are you asserting differently and what is your medical connection to witnesses?

  And it was Portishead and Clevedon primarily (not Burnham on Sea which isn't a catchment town for Bristol), that have been affected - and Tina Hughes (Porter's sister) has been interviewed on the TV and it was on National TV and radio too.

  As far as the secular authorities are concerned it's over. The charity commisson have investigated and advised.

  Porter's landing in Wimbledon is for any concerned citizen to highlight but of no interest to the courts unless he further offends or breaks his being on the sex offenders' register rules.

  Podo - you claim to know all about this case and yet you persist in saying we need to await the outcome of the second trial. You say the case was tried not half a mile from where you live - which case? The original Magistrates one, the Crown Court one or the Appeal?

  There was a second trial - I'm staggered you don't know about it and it raises huge question marks about your credentials in my mind - Porter was sentenced to 18 months and was out after 9 as is the norm in the UK when you "behave" behind bars.

  Why do you suggest approaching Avon and Somerset Police? What are they going to do in London over a 100 miles away?

  Something doesn't seem right Podo - you seem to suggest you have some medical input with the victims? Yet you left "the Truth" in 1982? And your father is a Bristol elder since 1972?

  Please convince me.
