To their credit, Jehovahs Witness has in a way created the undebunkable argument: A guy in a labcoat with a PhD who simply affirms evolution is not true.

The Jehovah’s Witness bagged themselves a Big One when they got Professor Raj Kalaria, to speak about his belief
by Watchtower-Free inuk scientist helps christian cult to promote creationism.
the jehovah’s witness bagged themselves a big one when they got professor raj kalaria, above, to speak about his belief in creationism in a new video posted online by the cult.. keralia is currently a deputy director of the newcastle centre for brain ageing and vitality, newcastle, and a professor of neuropathology at newcastle university, uk.. when ex-jehovah’s witness lloyd evans, who runs jwsurvey, discovered that an april 2016 jw broadcasting episode featured keralia, he decided to:.
reach out to newcastle university to find out whether it endorses the academic’s stance on evolution, and found myself in a rather frustrating email exchange with helen rae, the media relations manager at the university’s faculty of medical sciences .. after much to-ing and fro-ing, an official statement was finally forthcoming ….

Half Banana:
And what is it even supposed to mean the brain is too complex? According to evolution the human brain evolved over the past 6-12 million years from a brain that (crudely said) resembles that of a chimp. So is it this process which he decided was impossible because the "difference in complexity" (asides the volume, what is the difference?) is too large? What about the difference between a modern human and our closer ancestors? What about a modern human and a neanderthal?
How does he as a scientist establish these supposed evolutionary bounds?
How does he as a scientist think it is reasonable to put more weight on his intuition about the complexity of human brains than the many, many very concrete observations that disconfirms the WT account of creation, for instance the many observations that confirm modern humans as a species are older than 50'000 years.

My guess is they don't want him to speak too much about evolution because (like Behe) he only denies aspects of evolutionary theory while embracing parts that are seen as problematic.

Where and What. . . IS THE EVIDENCE for "Mental ILLNESS"? ? ?
by Terry ini have no interest whatsoever in stirring up controversy.. in fact, i find clashes of opinion to be debilitatingly negative.. so, i'd simply like to request that we narrow this discussion to evidence.. please watch this video which is tantalizingly titled :.
"there's no such thing as mental illness".. consider this data and listen to the presentation of cause vs. effects and give me your analysis and any evidence for conclusions you may draw.
we all have anecdotal tendencies, but i should remind you, anecdotal testimony isn't evidence, only opinion.________________________________________.

Lets look at the argument. First he states that the spending on drugs has increased rapidly in the last 10 years as have the number of people diagnosed.
Then the arguments:
In the past 50 years, the number of people diagnosed with mental illness has gone up. If we could cure mental illness, we would expect it to go the other way.
The problem with this argument is that it can be applied to many forms of cancer or other illnesses which have also gone up in prevalence in the past 50 years and does not account for better tools being available for diagnosis and treatment today.
Second argument
psychiatry has yet to conclusively prove that a single mental illness has a physical cause or a genetic origin
and no two species have been conclusively observed to evolve into each other. There is plenty of contrary evidence for instance: https://www.nih.gov/news-events/nih-research-matters/common-genetic-factors-found-5-mental-disorders
Then there is some quote-mining. Quotes that indicate that no single cause or condition can be identified as having a 1:1 correlate with a single mental illness is used to support the wider claim that mental illnesses do not have clear physical and chemical correlates. This is right out of the scientology playbook, wonder if we will hear about how cruel certain treatments are in a moment?
The case of schizophrenia is discussed. It is brought up we don't know the precise cause of schizophrenia (true) or how it is best treated (true). It is begrudgingly brought up twin studies demonstrate there are changes in the brain in patients with schizophrenia compared to their normal twin (which is damn good evidence those changes are related to schizophrenia), however he pulls out the explanation that these changes are CAUSED by giving the schizophrenia twin drugs. No citation is provided for this claim. The theory is, then, that the brains are initially equal but one have schizophrenia. Then that person is administered "brain-altering drugs" which changes his brain so it looks like the changes in the brain correlates with schizophrenia. This claim does not take into account the observation schizophrenia has an obvious inheritable component to it.

MrMonroe: I guess without printing it will be down to legal, construction and some administration of assemblies. Many of these things can properly be done part time from home offices...

Terry: You got to watch out with that guy, he has some ok videos but he was also promoting a kind of shunning/disconnection of family members if they disagrees with ones views on economics. It got a really fishy vibe. -
