DVD "JW's Faith In Action, part 1 Out of Darkness" Omits! Omits! Omits!
by Wasanelder Once ini've been watching the new dvd and it is a bull fest about russell.
i haven't even gotten half way and they already excluded one very important bit of information.
you'll recall that russell "lost" his faith and "turning away from church creeds and searching for truth, russell examined some leading oriental religions, only to find these unsatisfying".

Question for elder/ex-elders
by TweetieBird inwhy do elders, in judicial committee meetings when dealing with immorality, have to ask so many personal questions, i.e.
how many times, was oral sex involved, anal sex, how many times, etc.
is it really necessary or are the elders just getting off asking about someone else's sex life?

Designs, thats absolutely true, the truck-driver and mailman elders usually dont have the training for this kind of stuff.
Anyway, though there have been lots of horrible cases where young girls have been humiliated with all kind of intimate questions by some (pervert) elders, not all the elders are like that. In fact, I remember one JC session of a young girl. The chairman asked her like this: "so tell us what happened" and then he emphasized: "there is no need to go into any details". Then she said something like "we did the whole thing". And then this elder asked if they had had sex only on one occasion or several times and she answered that. And that was it, no more questions about the actual act.
After that the JC just wanted to see if she understood that it was wrong what she had done (she had confessed herself) and she promised not to do it again. Private reproof and that was it.
The next meeting this girl looked like a different person, she was all smiling and happy so apparently she actually got some relief from this whole procedure. I think it was handled quite okay in this case.
So it really depends on what kind of men there happen to be in the committee.

Mere Children who are Disfellowshipped
by BabaYaga inthis was inspired by another thread, where freetosee told of a young witness baptised at the tender age of 9, and disfellowshipped at age 12!!!
the mind goes wild at what a 12-year-old should ever be disfellowshipped for.
how would a kid be so unrepentant they would deserve losing their family and friends?

In one congregation 5 about 12-year-olds were baptized in one convention. It didnt take more than 1-2 years until two of these (young girls) were disfellowshiped. Today, about 10 years later, only 1 of them is still a witness.
