Witnesses - Ever Wondered Why You're So Tired After Assemblies/Meetings?
by The Searcher inrecently shared this with me.. they compared the tiredness they felt after attending an assembly and meetings, and noted how much worse it was than actually working and studying hard for hours for their secular employment!
why were they so exhausted after an assembly/meeting?
no, it wasn't satan.

Islam is the Epitome of Misogyny
by cofty inin this video the popular saudi cleric sheik yahya al-jana discusses the joys of paradise, saying that men will have the strength of a hundred men in paradise and will be busy tearing hymens, while the virgins of paradise, whose breasts are like pomegranates, become virgins every time again.. the cleric also explains it is mostly men who enter paradise noting that women in general are bad because they refuse to wear the veil, they wear tight clothes in shopping malls, put on perfume and jewelry, and use filthy social media platforms.
source.... this is what young men from conservative muslim families are raised on.
is it any wonder islamic countries treat women appallingly?.

VI: So, a little bit of logic here. Most women don't make it to Paradise but there's a hundred for every man?
Oubliette: It makes perfect sense. Most women do NOT make it, and obviously only 100th of the men do!
But this is contradictory to what the prophet Mohammed/Muhammad (however you spell it) said about most of the dwellers in Hell being women. Is there somewhere different that the men are going besides Paradise or Hell?

Mandatory Reporters of Child Abuse
by Dissonant15 inall states in the us mandate health care workers and teachers to report suspected child abuse to law enforcement.
this year our commonwealth expanded the law to include clergy, and to include a mandatory two hour training on what to look for and how to report, required for all mandatory reporters.. my coworker at the hospital said she and her husband did the training together, because her husband volunteers in the sunday school at the church, they required him to take it too.
i asked several witnesses when this law came into effect if all the elders and ms are going to be taking the training and everyone looked at me like i was an alien and they had no idea what the heck i was talking about.

The Borg have already stated they feel child abuse is a sin not a crime and therefore, won't report it unless mandated to do so. They hide behind a scripture that states don't take your neighbour to court.
If they can fly under the radar on this, they will. It's all about 'not dragging Jehovah's name through the mud' which is just a cop out to not take action as this will cost them time and money. They care nothing for the membership, particularly the women and children.

A new member
by Kurteousmaximus inhi... i am new and after nearly 20 years after being disassociated at 15 i would like to make contact with others who have similar difficulties.
my mother was disfellowshipped shortly after my rebellion and had all ties with both her mother and brother cut and that remains the case.. just really hacked off with not being able to put things in the proper place in my life after all these years.
for the record i don't know if i believe in god but am searching for some peace as i seem to self destruct on a regular basis.. any ideas anyone?.

Hi Kurteous and welcome. I am glad you are awake so your children don't have to go through what you did.
I am 3rd-gen, born-in, never baptized. I was around the age of 10 to 12 when I started having my doubts but kind of in reverse order.
The Ethiopian Famine of the 1970s had me questioning an all-powerful, all-loving God. As I moved into my teens, my doubts about religion grew. The JWs weren't making sense to me. The Catholics were in the news about their pedophilia problem. I just figured my life was going to be lived without God and I was fine with that. It's been a tough road with parents being in and getting more zealous as we kids grew up and left home. None of us are JWs. My Mom is dead now and my Dad is in a nursing home with dementia. He doesn't even remember his religion anymore.
As for me, I am a non-believer. Researching the history of the Bible, Bart Ehrman's information on the contradiction of the 4 Gospels and outright lies in the Bible, the factual errors in it too helped me conclude that God is just a figment of the human imagination. Ancient peoples used them to define their world. We have Science to help us with that now. Thank the Goddess! ;0)
So what are the things you enjoy doing beside being a parent? Any hobbies you enjoy? I love horses, crafting, having fun with family and friends. Work and looking after my Dad are my primary activities at the moment.

Please change my username, Simon =)
by Divergent inhi simon, sorry to disturb, but i would appreciate it very much if you could kindly change my username for me - from just kidding to divergent.
i've decided to change my username because i'm not the same person i was when i first joined this site.
back then, a part of me still believed, and i thought that if my doubts were wrong and the religion actually turns out to be true and i posted negative stuff here... hey, i was only just kidding!!!.

Congrats Divergent. Looks like Simon has worked his magic... again.

VI, I noticed that logic problem right off as well.
The phrase 'religious nutbaggery' comes to mind.

Cult or Religion
by Richard C B inwhat is a cult and what is a religion?
its open to debate.
who has the authority to say for certain what is a cult and what is a religion?
-
Heaven
Regarding the question "What is a cult?", this can generally be answered 'any group who wishes to abnormally and adversely control people'. I think Steven Hassan's BITE model is one that can assist anyone needing to identify a group as a 'cult' or high mind control.
I have to agree that most, if not all, religions do have cult tendencies, some being definitely worse than others. Cults encompass more that just religious groups. They can be non-religious in nature as well. Again, Steven Hassan has quite a list of groups that qualify on his website.
Regarding Jesus, everything ever written about him came from someone who never met him. The authors of the gospels can't even agree on the accounts of his life. Jesus himself wrote nothing down.
There were a lot of Messiahs back in these ancient times. Did Jesus of Nazareth actually exist? It is possible. But there is no record of this. There is far more physical evidence supporting the existence of the Philistines than Jesus. Bart Ehrman says Paul's letters indicate Jesus existed. Ehrman also says Jesus was an apocalyptic rabi who thought god was going to fix everything in his lifetime. Obviously this did not pan out. Did he walk on water? Did he rise from the dead 3 days later? Was he a man who became a god? No. This is pure fantasy.

Anything not from the Borg is highly suspect in JWs' eyes. The demunz are lurking around everything not sanctioned by Botchtower.
You should have seen my Dad's reaction to my Hobby Farm Home Magazine. It was very weird indeed, looking at it with high suspicion. <sarcasm> Yeah, the evil just oozes from this magazine. </sarcasm>.
