Who REALLY believed in the idea of living forever on earth??
by stuckinarut2 inseriously.....even when you were 100% in "the truth", did you really believe in living forever?
?

Of course I did. Children believe everything their parents tell them.
I also believed in the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy, and Santa Claus. When I was a child my Mom was getting involved with the JWs, but my Dad was not. We did actually celebrate Easter, Hallowe'en and Christmas when I was younger.
But then I grew up and realized a lot of my childhood was full of fantasy.

I had a discussion with my Dad about 5 years ago on this very subject. He was saying Armageddon is coming soon. I asked him how he can know that as Watchtower has been saying this for years. He replied it was because the economy was so bad. I said to him "Is the economy as bad as it was during the Great Depression?"
He replied with a tentative "Noooo."
I said "Wouldn't it seem more likely then that if a bad economy was the reason it will come 'soon', that the end should have come back then?"
I got the deer-in-the-headlights look.
I then said "The Watchtower needs to stop saying it's coming soon. They lose credibility when it doesn't. It's like crying wolf. People stop listening to you."

Why did God permit Scriptures to be corrupted?
by economy inif someone informs you that your shop caught fire, and firefighters are on the job, you will run to the spot.
however, if you had already sold that property on the previous day (which this messenger is ignorant of), you are likely to respond, saying: shop is not mine..
situation is same with god.

This is what happens when you have 'faith'. People live in their delusional worlds. -

How many here gave up having a family for the sake of the "truth"?
by stuckinarut2 inthis is a sensitive topic for many of us i know, but i am wondering how many here actually gave up the idea of having a family "in this system" for the sake of "kingdom activity or service"??.

I am 51 and did not have children.
For one, I was too afraid to. The whole Armageddon imminently arriving and the no blood policy had lasting, negative effects on me.
I was also not going to allow anyone to have control over me like Botchtower said women were supposed to do. So I focused on my career ensuring I was able to financially support myself. I did not want to have to rely on anyone especially an abusive man.

How do stop myself getting too Bitter?
by stuckinarut2 inyou know, i always maintained that during this fading process, and while learning ttatt, i would not let myself get "bitter twisted and angry".... but, in all honesty, if i examine myself, i have become quite bitter toward the org, toward the false friends and the gb.. i have become angry as i see the extent of damage i feel being raised in "the truth" has done.... i feel hurt towards the lost opportunities in life etc.... how do i not allow myself to get too swallowed up by such bitterness?.
i have always been a very happy, positive, selfless person.
i can put people at ease, i am someone people feel comfortable chatting to.

LOL @ B the X!
As to your question stuck, involve yourself in positive experiences as jwfacts and others have stated. It's the only cure for negativity. I think if you can't get past the bitterness, counseling might be in order. -

Me and the bible don't see eye to eye
by bobld inmatt 7:13 in the past 2000 years billions of people took the broad and spacious road to destruction.john 5;29 however, they will be resurrected.why!
would you retrieve a rotten apple from the trash.. james 1;15 desire-paraphased leads to sin and death.a married man desires and has sex with a woman.you could say he screwed himself to death.on the other hand a man with pure thoughts would not think of such a thing.he's going to die anyways.bummer.. james 1:17 a perfect gift from above.my ass, drought in california and snow to high heaven in boston.. one more james 1;22 become doers of the word (per john 1;14 the word is j.c.) how am i suppose to do something with the word that is somewhere in space.

I'm not particularly thrilled with the Bible's misogyny. Some examples (there are more):
1 Corinthians 11:5
But every woman who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head--it is the same as having her head shaved.1 Corinthians 11:13
Judge for yourselves: Is it proper for a woman to pray to God with her head uncovered?1 Corinthians 14:34: Women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the law says.
1 Corinthians 14:35
If they want to inquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home; for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church.Ephesians 5:22
Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord.1 Timothy 2:11
A woman should learn in quietness and full submission.1 Timothy 2:12: I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man; she must be quiet.
