by AndersonsInfo inhttp://www.express.co.uk/news/nature/581439/rise-isis-earthquakes-warnings-before-armageddon-apocalypse-end-destroys-volcanoes-earth.
the "end" of mankind, which has been long predicted by jehovah's witnesses, could happen as soon as this year - according to latest announcement from the christian religion.. in the latest edition of jehovah's witnesses monthly publication watchtower, an article translated into 700 languages - urges people to join the religion or face certain death when god sends his forces from the heavens to "remove all world leaders," "exterminate his enemies" and "rid the world of satan".. critics have lambasted the warning of a coming armageddon as yet another "failed prediction" by the religion, which has previously delivered similar alerts such as a foretold apocalypse in 1975.. indeed, jehovah's witnesses have been warning people of the need to recognise jehovah or face certain death when the "end" comes for more than 100 years.. the christian-based religion was founded in the 1870s by charles taze russell in pittsburgh, pennsylvania, us, as an offshoot from the bible studies movement.. today, there are 8.2million jehovah's witness evangelists, while 19.9 million celebrated their annual memorial festival marking christ's death - worldwide in 2014.. followers do not believe in military service and will not accept blood transfusions.. in a new eight-page article, watchtower said jehovah's witness leaders are now "convinced" humans are in their "final days" before the armageddon.. they cite an increase in global armed conflict, such as the rise of the islamic state terror group, as well as natural disasters such as volcanoes and earthquakes.. the lengthy article, written by an unnamed author, said: "will god let humans continue to dominate one another and threaten the future of mankind?
no, as we have seen, he will step in and bring an end to centuries of misery and oppression.

Finkelstein, excellent point. I also notice in that pic that no one is dirty. If you had just gone through massive destruction, I am pretty sure you'd be covered in crap. -

I got my Crapvention invite yesterday. It's in Kitchener, Ontario. Um, the gas money alone to drive there and back requires a small loan! If I was to stay for 3 days, there's food and lodging on top of that. Do these clowns not realize how much it costs to travel these days? -

In 2009, my Dad told me the reason the Big 'A' was sooo close was the bad economy. I guess the reasons change year over year.

How big of a problem is apostasy.
by joe134cd ini often wonder if apostasy could be defined as the "silent problem", as the majority who leave for this reason choose to fade saying nothing.
in all the decades i was a witness i could probably count on 2 hands those who were disfellowshipped for apostasy.i must admit it wasn't until i came on the internet that i fully realise the depth and extent of the problem.
i think of that young girl high school speech that went viral, and you can't tell me all those 300000+ views were all none jws.

I know this has nothing to do with 'apostasy' but with the aging Baby Boomer population, getting older, sicker, and subsequently dying is also another reason people leave and never go back. ;0) -

For me as a teenager of the '70s, I wasn't agreeing with my parent's religion but also began doubting the claims about God. The misogyny I saw both in the religion and the Bible started putting me off too. The lack of God fixing problems in the world when he is claimed to be all-powerful and all-loving were contradictory and did not sit well with me..
My mind is very logical. Religion requires you leave logic and reason behind. This is not me. I am just not wired to be religious.

Video: How can we be sure the Bible is true?

Ok, just watched it.
They are using one scripture to assert that the entire Bible is Scientifically true. Wow!
How about the other scriptures that prove the Bible to be Scientifically false?
Genesis 1:
a) Creates light and dark prior to the creation of the Sun, Moon, and Stars.
b) Creates Earth prior to the Sun.
c) Documents plants growing on the Earth before the Sun's creation.
Genesis 2:18-19: Creates man before the animals. This is wrong as the fossil record clearly shows.

How can we be sure the Bible is true?
WTF?! Ok, I'll play.
Step 1. Do NOT read the Bible.
Step 2. Drop out of school.
Step 3. Do not become educated in anything Scientific.
Step 4. Do NOT develop critical thinking skills.
Step 5. Join a Christian religion and only listen to what the leaders of said religion tell you.
Edited to add: I have not yet watched the video. I usually have to work up to these things. Just my 2 cents worth on how to accomplish accepting the Bible as the inerrant word of God.

What kingdom do the sheep inherit?
by scotoma inonce again jehovah has decided to light a candle so jw's can see where they are going.. they went to great lengths to explain that feeding the hungry anointed, thirsty anointed, giving them clothing, housing and visiting them in jail means the preaching work (distributing literature).. this is indeed noble when you consider that the right-hand sheep do this not even knowing who they are helping.. if the sheep are oblivious of who they are helping they must not recognize these "least" ones as christs brothers.. and what is their reward for unknowingly, blindly helping christs brothers?
they inherit the kingdom that was prepared for them from the founding of the world.
the new-lighters conspicuously avoid explaining what kingdom they inherit and how they inherit it.. do they inherit the kingdom that flesh and blood can't inherit.

Sheep inherit the kingdom of the dinner plate.

Shepherds are not there for the benefit of the sheep.
Shepherds are there to ensure the sheep arrive safely at the slaughtering table.

I was never baptized so therefore never DF'ed. From what I read on here, I am so glad I never got baptized. The whole DF'ing process and subsequent shunning is tortuously abusive.
The reason my parents would give their JW cronies for me not becoming a JW was that I went to College.
I'm 100% cool with that. Of course, I had decided well before going to College that this group wasn't for me and that I had doubts about the claims being made about God. But I never voiced any of this to my parents. You learn quickly, as a child, what you can and cannot talk about with your JW parents.
