Having Faith in the Bible

i know many on here have lost faith in the bible , is it possible that is because ones do not have the right perspective regarding it .

we have usually been taught by bad teachers , or ignorant .

i believe if we take an honest look at the bible , we will see that it gives us the best answers to crucial matters , it gives us some amount of bearings ( understanding ) , which without having such knowledge we would all be more like walking zombies in amanner of speaking , we would be lacking hope in something better , for surely something better is to come , how can we be sure , .

The issue is that the religious authorities of today trot this thing called the Bible out as some sort of inerrant, inspired word of God. Any Science book is far superior in factual knowledge than the Bible.

If you have to have 'faith' in an ancient compilation spanning 1000 years authored by Middle Eastern desert dwellers attempting to explain the unexplainable, and has since been proved falable, I think this just shows you have abandoned logic and reason for madness.

Pick what you like from it. But don't wave it around in public and definitely don't shove it down my throat or my kid's throat.

Yes, the Bible is a compilation of ancient Bronze/Iron Age, Middle Eastern stories spanning over 1,000 years authored by desert dwellers attempting to explain the unexplainable. While it does contain a smattering of historical reference, it mostly contains factual errors, forgeries, exaggerations, superstition, fantasy, and contradictions.

It is Science's pursuit of truth no matter where it leads us that has truly advanced our knowledge. I highly recommend reading a Science book over the Bible any day.

The legal precedent has at least been set for other cases like it, to come forward.

The Zalkin Law Firm reports they have a number of cases in the pipeline. Botchtower is about to get hammered.

The Borg's typical response is to deflect responsibility. Any elder aware of these types of issues would be wise to step down. I am so glad my Dad is out of this crap now.

i remember when i signed up on this site as totally add which was 5 years ago plus.

i had a horror story to tell about the abuses i went through as a child in this cult.

since then mentally i am much better.

Heaven I hope you are wrong that this group can get worse but I see were you are coming from.

Hey STADD... it's all about the leadership in these groups. They cycle too, based on the times. The latest Catholic Pope has softened their stance on homosexuality but then says "critics of religion should expect to be punched." The leaders of religion are psychotic to me. And it just takes one nut job at the top to tip the scale towards extremism.

I will be building a 10 x 20 ft. greenhouse next month.

Oooo, this sounds cool. If you can, please post some pics. Would love to see it.

(((( Still Total ADD )))) So glad you are doing much better without the dogma from Botchtower. It really is 100% unnecessary.

By exposing the manipulations of the WT cult, an opportunity for greater choice and freedom is opened for all of us.

I think it is important for all of us who have been abused by this organization to speak out against it.

This group could get worse. They could become a variant of extremism like ISIS. I hope it goes the other way... that it realizes the error of its ways and effects some positive change.

Performance is MANDATORY in this religion. You HAVE TO go door to door. If you don't then you aren't 'witnessing'.

As my Dad's dementia worsened, I watch him become despondent because he knew he couldn't do what they expected of him and he beat himself up over it.

Children are also expected to do Field Serve-Us. And what about people who are incapable due to being physically and/or mentally challenged?

And about blood transfusions, well, just hope you don't ever need one.

Praying in Public?

hellloooo fellow apostates, mentally diseased devil worshippers :) how is everyone?.

today, i listened to a song about praying and how one can pray anywhere.

well, this song brought back the horror of sitting in restaurants, mcdonalds, coffee shops etc and having a group of brothers and sister bow their head and pray for what seemed to be an eternity.

I have a Catholic friend who prays, silently, before every meal, including when we all go out to a restaurant. It's a bit awkward but we all just ignore it.

We are an eclectic bunch. An atheist, a Catholic, a Jew, and I'm not sure about our fourth friend. She could be Buddhist but she hasn't said yet. She is Chinese and believes wearing red underwear during Chinese New Year brings luck.
