Elder arrested for stalking

i just read in the police blog that an elder that went to my former cong was arrested for stalking.

i knew his family well and he is married to my cousin.

this elder and his wife had recently shunned me at the grocery store.

Desert Rat - The matter was dropped. But I did wonder who would have reported that to the elders?? Who also would have known how long he was inside my house? Now I wonder if I could I have been the victim of a 'stakeout'?

Could've been anyone. If you weren't well-liked or were kind of on the fringe, they could have asked a kiss-ass Ministerial Servant who was clamoring to be an elder to do it. Could've been one of the elders themselves. You just never know.

I stopped caring what other people thought a long time ago. Let them see me doing whatever and try to say "it looks bad". I was out with a few friends (one of whom I had a sort-of friends-but-more thing with) and we were at a restaurant. Now, the guy I was "with" was DEFINITELY worldly-looking. Longish hair, Rob Zombie t-shirt, earings all up one ear, more tattoos than bare skin, goatee, etc. Seated at the table right next to us were 2 elders. One from my former congregation, and one from the congregation that shared that hall. I knew them both. They looked at me oddly like "what is she doing with these people?" and just kept shooting glances at me and speaking in hushed tones. So finally, I got sick of it, got up to go into the bar for a drink, turned around and got right up close to the guy's ear and said in a murmur "those 2 guys behind me are JW elders..." He said "Oh really? Are you gonna be in trouble for being out with me?" So I said "I really don't care anymore. I'm not doing anything wrong!". After that, I gave him a HUGE smooch on the cheek, and said "I'll be right back"...he whacked my ass as I walked away lol.

About 2 days later, I started getting calls from elders in my own congregation...and a few drop-ins. I refused to talk. Little do they know, the guy was never my boyfriend. We liked each other, but he decided he wanted my best friend instead (ouch), so we were never an item lol. But we WERE close friends and would kiss on the lips and hug, etc, even when he started dating her. She didn't care because he was MY friend before he was HERS.

I guess what I'm saying is that someone will always make things out to be what they are not IF they want you to get in trouble for any reason. It's why the elder's manual gives an "example" of a single woman having a man alone in her apartment for an extended time or overnight. Who the hell would know unless they were being watched?? And furthermore, who is to say that the guy didn't just need a shoulder to cry on and they spent the whole night talking? Men and women can be friends without it getting physical. To me, giving that example is a covert way of the GB saying "Look, if you suspect it and can catch them in the act with JUST this, you have a case". It's encouraging espionage.

so i was just browsing the june 15, 2011 (study edition) watchtower and came across this seemingly desperate article in the last two pages (29 & 30):.

As always, the Watchtower plays "Ouija Bible" and just cracks it open to the first example they can think of that supports their case...when taken out of context. Here, they are ascribing bad and selfish motive to Baruch with ZERO evidence that this was the case. The words "may have been" and "could have been" scream "We don't really know, we're totally speculating here, but shut up cause it sounds good and supports our case!". In short, it's another desperate ploy to keep people stupid and numb-skulled.

This is a hot-button issue for me. The fact that this supposed "god" created something so perfect and then decided it needed to be modified completely baffles me. It has nothing to do with science... maybe, just maybe, these nomadic desert people saw that it was difficult to keep an intact penis clean, what with the sand and sweat, etc. Maybe they saw the nations around them were NOT circumsized, so they did it in order to separate themselves further. In my way of seeing all this "separation" from the surrounding cultures (along with other factors like following one man who claims to be the mediator or spokesperson for god himself, etc) , it's my opinion that Judaism was the very first true cult.

I decided not to have my sons circumcised because I didn't feel it was my right to hack off a piece of their body *shrug*. Body modification is a personal choice. It's not MY body, so it's not MY right to choose to modify it. Same reason I didn't have my daughter's ears pierced as a baby. Not my choice. I did lots of research, looked at both sides of the arguement, and concluded that it just wasn't necessary and wasn't worth causing them pain over. In SOME cases it is a medical necessity, but that's rare. For the most part, as long as it's kept clean, there are no issues. Quite a few insurance companies in the US have stopped paying for routine circumcision because it is considered cosmetic and not medically necessary. If, for example, a boy was born with hypospadias, then the foreskin would be most likely to be used to correct it, and therefore, it's medically necessary. Having a boy and wanting him to "look like his father" is not lol. It becomes out of pocket to have it done. For the record, neither of my boys look like their father (in ANY way, but particularly in that area) and it's not something they've noted or even care about.

How much do you believe in God's blessings?

the more i talk to the brothers and sisters, the more i question what so-called "blessings" god gives to us.

yesterday i had the #3 talk at the hall.

and because my family has that "perfect family example" status in the hall, i got all the comments about how wonderful i did and how fantastic it was for being a young man(20)....yada yada yada.

I don't believe in "God's blessings" at all. Too much life experience tells me otherwise. I was the same way, I could put a talk together in about 5 to 10 minutes, complete with an original illustration and at least 3 scriptures to back up my points. It wasn't that hard, but I always got comments on how wonderful my talk was and how they'd "never thought of it that way before", etc. *sigh*

The classic features of a JW wedding are:

firstly a wedding/sales talk that mostly features heavily on how the woman should behave (hint, doormat) and lightly brushes over the fact of the husbands bevhaviour ( oh yeah he should treat her well).

the reception normaly at some crummy comunity hall with yellowed ceilings and chucks of damp plaster falling off the walls.

the seats normaly arranged facing eachother all around the edge, so that theres a huge unused space in the middle and everyone is climbing over everyone elses legs to get to their chair.. a big spread donated by everyone, normaly an ode to food poisoning.

Let's not forget to include the obligatory warning to wordly relatives and others at the ceremony that there is to be no throwing of rice when the happy couple exits the hall as it is TOTALLY PAGAN.

Even though, at least here in the states, no one does that anymore cause it's bad for the birds...they throw bird seed instead lol.

That reminds me...we were at my worldly uncle's wedding about 13 years ago and they were throwing the bird seed as they exited the reception hall (they didn't have the ceremony in a church, everything was at one location)...I was baptized already, and both my mother and me threw the seed... I don't know why she didn't make the association that it was the same thing for the same purpose as rice...

I was just having fun slamming my uncle and new aunt with tons of seeds lol...

Lead Books: Lose Cross, Run With Yahweh?

if these lead books prove to be genuine, they may present the 'bernie madoff' governing body of jehovah's witnesses with a dilemma:.

should they highlight them because they may mention 'yahweh' in a christian context or reject them because jesus didn't die on a stake?.

if they are smart ( and who knows, given their ignorant, biased frame of mind), they might run with the 'yahweh' stuff.

A few of us here have already tried mentioning this to family who are still in. We're usually met with the same response. No interest. The guard goes up, and they refuse to hear it and, in my case, even get angry.

I think that even if the GB were to recant and say "Well, yeah, Jesus apparently did die on a cross", many would just be so brain-dead that it wouldn't register. And I'm pretty sure they'd make up some excuse as to why we shouldn't recognoze the cross anyway because of its Pagan origins and make sure that everyone knew that it doesn't matter WHAT he died on, and even though this "new light" shows that we were mistaken, we should still not have any involvement with the cross at all.

They also MAY take the smaller sections of these writings and prove the name YHWH, which would tickle the little dubbies asses to see, and yet not really mention that it talks about the cross at all. I mean, look how much spin doctoring they've done throughout the years. They are masters at manipulating what is written to fit their agenda! They're masters of mind control and the dubs will believe what they are TOLD to believe. I don't foresee that this will be a huge issue.

My wedding was not a JW ceremony. It was a civil ceremony, non-religious. That was kind of frowned upon by most JW's, but then again, I only had a few JW's at the ceremony and dinner afterward... everyone was invited to the reception though... it wasn't by formal invitation it was just "You wanna come, come!". There was a bar, waitresses available for food orders, etc. Basically it was just "Hey, join us at this restaurant and have some fun with us". It was pretty relaxed and laid back.

Now, I'm never getting married again, but IF I did, I'd do it way differently.
