audio capture?
by No Apologies incan anyone give me some suggestions or advice on options for discreetly taping a discussion?
say if a person were having a conversation in their own home with some guests.
how might this best be done without causing undue alarm or needless questions requiring awkward explanations?

I used to record my ex-mother-in-law with a small tape recorder in my back pocket. We used to argue and then later she would deny certain things she would say, so I played it back for her. Boy was she pissed!! LOL She started thinking twice before she would say things.
I used a small recorder, you know the ones with the little bitty tapes that some used to use at the conventions. I would put it in my back pocket and wear a long shirt. I would make sure the mic part was facing the top, hit record, and have the volume up all the way to make sure and catch everything. Worked really well. Don't know if that helps but it did for me

Isn't It Ironic
by kelpie ini was reading the post on our standing within the congregation http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/forum/thread.aspx?id=40040&site=3&page=3 and no matter what part of the world we live in, its always the same thing.. it is always the elders kids that get away with murder while the ones that are really trying to do the right thing always get blamed for it.. when i would mention this to my mum she would always reply with, satan has already got them.
he is trying to get you.. if you are getting persecuted.. it means you are doing the right thing.. does that sound strange to anyone other then me?.

First I want to say that every cong is different to some extent. My comments are only the ones I personally experienced.
The cong I attended my father was an elder and my grandfather was a PO for as long as I can remember. My family was well known and I couldn't get away with anything. At any assembly I was ratted on constintly for the smallest things.
By the time I was 15 I had been in about 6-10 judical meetings. Which led to my getting df'd at 15.
Personally I found being an elder's daughter a burden and not a privledge. Always being watched and having to set the example for the young people in my cong. I hated it!!!!!!!!!!!

Cheesy Question:
by Englishman inwhat's your favourite cheese, please?.
mine's gruyere, a swiss cheese that is absolutely scrummy.http://www.cheese.com/description.asp?name=gruyere.
of course, i still enjoy the noble stilton, danish blue and there ain't nothing to compare to a genuine parmesan with pasta.. but, gruyere takes some beating, i reckon.. englishman.

I LOVE cheese. Munster, cheddar, american, string, cream, etc. I don't like really strong cheese, hate cottage cheese. I won't eat a cheese that I can't get close to my nose without gaging.

Why did YOU want to live forever??
by Scully inwhat was it about living forever that appealed to you when you were a jw?.
was it the idea that you'd have all the time in the world to do whatever you wanted to do?
were you thinking about travelling the world and seeing it all transformed into a paradise?

Edwards & Brown... what do you think???
by Tashawaa inhas anyone seen/watch "crossing over" (john edwards) or seen sylvia brown?
i do believe there are scam artists out there, and i'm not prone to believing in psychics, but these two are very convincing.. i don't believe its demons, because quite frankly i think they have better things to do then get to know someone's life so well they can "mimic" them after death .
part of me is very attracted to "their message" - even the animals "cross over"... but the skeptic in me .

I guess I really don't know if I believe them or not. I guess I would have to have them tell me something personally. I am open to the idea though.
