I have just left my parents home and the JW's about six months ago and have found it hard to get over.
by StephanieH ini finally desided to leave the witnesses therefore my family and basicly everyone and everything i had ever known.
i was 19 about to be 20 and i had just finished my first semester at a community college.
i was shocked at the respons of my father and others about me attending college at first they were ok but behind my back they were pretty much betting on my failier.

Oh Dear Stephanie, my heart goes out to you. You are going through way too much. Living with alcoholic parents is no joke. I hope you have gone on line and joined a website for children of alcoholics - it has been a huge help to a lot of my friends (of any age)

The witnesses in their 70's and 80's are desperate to see themselves proved right. They are staring at death, which was never, ever to happen to them - they were not to even go to kindergarten because the end was so near. Now, any non-theocratic time is usually spent watching the news so they can link all world events to the start of the big A.
The tornado in Joplin was another indicator that the big A is closer than we think

And best of all - you could pack 6 to 8 people in a mini-van.
It was always so unbelievably embarrassing when we would park and the van doors would hurl open and about 10 people of every color, size and age would all fall out with their little territory card, bible, pencils and back call slips. What a comical sight for all the neighbors who were scurrying to close blinds, lock doors and hide as fast as possible.

The only reason the above may have happened is because the poor brother has been preached to (at every meeting) that when you associate with the world it will end in FORNICATION. The brother was probably just following what he has heard from the platform his whole life.

Why do the women put up with it?

"exactly; look up the details of the "honor killing" epidemic and the extent to which women are the primary movers and motivators behind the murders is startling.
also, looking at the secular countries that are being threatened by islamic fundamentalism (malaysia, indonesia, egypt, turkey) and woman are at the forefront in returning to wearing the niquab/burka and accepting islamic oppression.

Annoying JW Vegan....
by lalaa inmy co-worker is a vegan and jw constantly talks about how healthy she is...blah, blah, blah....all day long and she's getting on my last nerve.
she's always posting how meat is murder on facebook and how all meat eaters are sooo uneducated.
funny since she dropped out of home schooling and never recieved her ged.

I am not a vegan, however I do have a large number of friends that are either vegetarian or vegan. They are not annoying, in fact some of them try to keep it hidden because so many people are (as is evident from this thread) so outspoken against it. One friend rarely goes out to dinner because she does not want to draw attention to her way of eating. The friends I have that are vegan are well educated regarding food choices and every one of them is absolutely DROP DEAD GORGEOUS - which makes me rethink my love of meat.
The person spoken of at the start of this thread should keep her mouth shut, because she makes the vegan community look like a bunch of loonies!
