Where is the first picture (statue or something) from? The beads in the w08 1/15 can be behind the priests (?) arms.

The good old days and the "smart people" thread.
by wanderlustguy ini also think that some long-time posters that have met over the years feel like family and see some of the more "junior" members as interlopers in their "home".. comments are often made about the "good old days" when jwd was full of smart people.. it is often lamented that it is currently inhabited by a bunch of idiots that pale in comparison to the glorious ones of yesteryear.. " these brothers today just aren't as zealous.
remember when we'd be out in service till dark?
alot of these newer ones quit at noon.

I had this situation happening that I contacted people that used to be on JWD by E-Mail and they would reply that they moved on and are no longer interested in the topic. I do not feel good about that because is like being dumped again.

Re: Annual Meeting-New Understanding Of Dragnet in Matt 13:47
by Justitia Themis ina poster on another db mentioned that there was also a 'new' understanding regarding the dragnet.
here is a copy of his post.. "vs 47: the dragnet are meetings and memorials in which all sorts attend.
most at memorial don't make progress.

I cannot believe that they change all those things at once. All the new explanations (like "Generation=Annointed", "Dragnet=Memorial+Meeting") sound even more cultish than the current teachings. I would like to this is in print.

What do you want us to do if YOU die?
by skeeter1 ingiven the faked linda death and a recent, personal friend who died...i think it's appropriate to gather our thoughts on our own death & funeral.. first, if you have a will please make sure it puts down your final funeral wishes.
i think all would roll over in the casket if our family members gave us a jw funeral.
i could see them doing this as a last effort to make us right with jah.. in my case, i'd like you to plant a tree/plant (even an anti-mosquito plant would do) in your yard.

I think you would not notice. My wife does not write on the Internet.

by bonnzo inhad a new to me explanation of something i've questioned about matt 24:45-47. i, along with some here, wondered why the "slave" in matthew is singular when the wtbts says it has to be a "class" because no one person could live long enough to be the slave.
personally, i've wondered why it couldn't be each person individually, but the d.o.
says there is precedent.

This is not a new explanation, you find it in the Insight-Books:
***
it-1p.806FaithfulandDiscreetSlave***Commentators often view this as a general exhortation to any and all who have individual positions of responsibility in the Christian congregation. The requirement of faithfulness in discharging responsibility clearly applies to all such. (Compare Mt 25:14-30; Tit 1:7-9.) Yet, the impossibility of each and every one of these individuals being placed over "all" his master’s belongings at the same time, the time of the master’s arrival, is obvious. This, however, does not require that the "slave" prefigure only one particular person who would be so privileged. The Scriptures contain examples of the use of a singular noun to refer to a collective group, as when Jehovah addressed the collective group of the Israelite nation and told them: "You are my witnesses [plural], . . . even my servant [singular] whom I have chosen." (Isa 43:10) Similarly, the figure of the unfaithful "evil slave" could apply to a collective group in the same way that "the antichrist" is shown to be a class made up of individual antichrists.—1Jo 2:18; 2Jo 7.
