BTT:
Hello guys!
I've been disconnected from the forum for some time, and I just want to let you know what's been happening in the last 2 months, after my wife started "thinking by herself":
This last week, when we received the letter and the new tract about the "Bethel Dressing Code", it was "The straw that broke the camel's back" for her!!! She went nuts!
When we returned home she started complaining (almost screaming) about it! She called the WT a "cult", and that she doesn't believe it. The funny thing was that she called another forum member (you know who you are, and thanks for your help!) to ask him about it. We spent 2 hours talking with her about the WT, the bible, 607, 1914, 1975, and the whole nine yards!
This week has been a really thought time for her, because she's realizing the truth about the WT. She looks kind of sad sometimes, but at least I'm letting her know that I love her with all my heart constantly. And I explained her that many many "brothers and sisters" have our same "doubts". At least I know about 3 common friends that are still in, but they don't believe in the WT. So we are not alone!
I always said this in my posts: This forum is a blessing!!!! Thanks to all for all your support.
And keep us in your prayers! (Or send us positive vibes!!! )

Hello OOTB!
First of all, welcome to the Jungle, and I'm really Sorry for your new "Privilege". I just hope that we both can find an exit to this mess we are in...
At least let me tell you that being an Elder you can make some good things for some people. Even when you know that the WT beliefs are wrong, and the Elder's procedures are all BS.
For example, I was called for a Sheperding visit some time ago. The young couple that we visited, told us that they commited fornication years ago. (They are very nice, by the way). The bad part: the other Elder that went with me is one of the most hard-core in the congregation! Normally, if we know about a case like this (a confession), we are supposed to create a Judicial Comitee immediately. Do you know what I did?
I took the lead! When they confessed, and before the other Elder opened his mouth, I immediately opened the bible, and looked for some texts that talked about Jehovah's mercy and pardon. And I started to talk. I praised them for "letting us know about it". I let them know how important it is to read THE BIBLE daily, and praying to God to understand it.
The funny thing was that the other Elder started to give them some suggestions, but following MY line of thought!!
After the visit, I talked to the Elder, and explained him that it was no good to comdem them to a JC, because "they looked really repentant and that the fornication occurred only once". And he AGREED!
So, at least I saved that couple from a JC, and all the gossiping and aggravation that happens when there's a confession...

She thought, somewhat subconciously, that my desire to leave also meant leaving her. Or that I would become a godless immoral adulterer.
Burn: I believe that my wife can be thinking similarly. On the other hand, I have good moral principles, and I try to behave correctly even with no JW's around. And I don't have plans of stop believing in God.

Nellie: Thanks a lot for your suggestion.
I'm really working hard to reassure my love to my wife everyday. Every time we talk, I assure her that I love her and that I love God. And that my love for her does not have to be affected by my believe in a man's organization.
Scotsman: I sent you a PM. Thanks for sharing your experience and suggestions. I really appreciate that.

Guys: Thanks for your comments.
Sacolton: As English is not my first language, sometimes I make mistakes as I try to explain myself.
I think you misunderstood what I tried to say. Let me clarify the situation again:
I'm NOT the one who is going to start studying the bible! I'm JW Elder! (not too proud and trying to step down, by the way...)
My wife wants me to start conducting a bible study with the husband of the lady that is studying with my wife. I DON'T want to teach anything WT to anybody!!

Guys: I just need to vent a little…
As you may know, I’ve been working for a couple of months, trying to make my wife think by herself. She started to do it, and I noticed it when she started arguing with her parents about some WT policies some weeks ago. I thought it was great!
Last night she went to give a “bible study” with a friend of us. When my wife returned home, she was “sooo happy, because she found somebody that wants to start studying”… with ME!!!! She made arrangements to start next Monday!!!
She caught me completely off-guard!!! I never thought it was going to be so difficult to maintain my face straight in front of her… It was the first time that this happens to me. I didn’t want to be rude to her saying “I don’t want to do it” or “I’m not interested”. I wasn't prepared to argue or give explanations at that moment.
So I told her that I will go… with a fake smile…
I really don’t want to convince ANYONE to join this CULT!!!
The funny thing was that she asked me before going to sleep: Are you really happy that I found somebody that wants to start studying with you???
I just said “yeah”, and kiss her goodnight…
Do you have similar experiences??
