As regards Bill Gates, I seem to recall the usual rumours that he (like almost every other prominent person on this planet) supposedly started a bible study some time ago. It may well be that this rumour was started by Dubs seeing that TV show, who knows. Most probably total nonsense like 99.9% of congregation gossip. Even if the guy had some connections to the WTS, it would hardly be relevant for Microsoft's donation policy. Microsoft isn't Gates' private little shop.

How did the WTBS receive some funds and why!
If I understand it correctly, this is a different program than the "matching employee donations" thing. But of course that doesn't answer the question how the WTS got donations for some "secular community service"!
The FAQ says:
Microsoft will only match gifts to religious organizations when the gift is designated to an ongoing secular community service program sponsored by these organizations and does not propagate a belief in a specific faith.
How on earth could the WTS qualify, then?? Maybe one should simply ask them. I didn't find an e-mail address on first glance, though.

Possibly. In any case, it is very likely that the final court decision will not be reached shortly. It may take years before this matter is finally settled.

I'm not sure what you mean by this sentence. There is no risk of them being shut down by the state (even though that's what they like to insinuate - the standard "persecution" whining). The German WTS is not fighting against possible loss of anything they already have, legally or financially. They want _more_ benefits from the state, most notably, tax benefits.
If the Society does decide to sell most of its property in Selters and move to Britain for legal reasons, it could be a very profitable deal. They are apparently having trouble getting volunteers for Selters, anyway.

The not-so-small difference is that humans obviously _do_ exist (at least I'm fairly certain that _I_ exist). God may exist or not. He's there with all the other things that may exist or not, and if I had to choose one of those things to firmly believe in, I'd rather pick something else. As a matter of fact, the evidence for the Loch Ness monster's existence seems to be more compelling than the evidence for God's existence. Strangely, people who believe in God are called "faithful", while people who believe in Nessie are called "looneys".
