  Rutherford was billed by the WTS as the greatest living Bible scholar of his day. His actions transformed the way of for JWs for the last eighty years and counting. Countless thousands of people never married, and those that did never had children because of the lies that he told and the false prophecies he uttered. He lived like a King in four palaces while his pioneers lived like peasants in unheated trailers selling his crap for him. I'm going to be writing a lot more about old Joe in the coming weeks, because he was one of the most evil men to ever run a cult and the truth needs to be told.

  A.H. Macmillan who was a close associate of Rutherford stated that only FOUR people attended his "burial" in Rossville, New York. Nathan Knorr wasn't there. Neither was Fred Franz, one his two closest associates. Furthermore, not ONE member of his immediate family was there either and that included his son Malcome, and his wife Mary.

  I wonder why? It was because he was a dirtbag, and even dirtbags like Knorr and Franz could recognize a worse dirtbag than themselves and acknowledged same by their not even bothering to pay him last respects.

  My Mother's Letter

  i recently got this letter from my mother, i thought i would share it to help see how this saga continues.

  my parents are both regular pioneering as we speak.

  have seen their grandchildren for about an hour in the last six months.

  Hi Silentlambs,

  The letter was tragic. Truly tragic, yet my own 73 year-old-mother could have penned exactly the same thing. I know exactly how you feel, and exactly what your mother is trying to do to you because I've been getting exactly the same thing from my own mother for nearly thirty years now, and even before that when I was a dub, I could never do enough, never be good enough. As I said its tragic cult-thinking at its worst.

  : when you build your life around negative stories as horrible as child abuse there's never anything to laugh about any more.

  I find that supremely ironic since JWs have built their entire lives around the most tragic and negative horror of all: six billion people being massacred in a day or so, eyes rotting in the sockets of babies-in-arms, blood, guts, and gore splattered over every inch of this earth, their own "wordly" parents, brothers, sisters, and children all being brutally murdered in front of their eyes on that "joyous" day. This is what JWs live for, work for and give up everything else for. Yet somehow people like your mother still think there is something to laugh about "anymore."

  i hope you'll indulge me for a few minutes here.

  i've been reading this board with great enthusiasm for a few weeks now.

  i must say i am so impressed by the depth and breadth of experiences all of you are sharing.

  : The big hang-up for her is the Trinity. She says she can't see any good support for the belief anywhere in the bible. The problem is, for her it appears that: NO TRINITY=BELIEVE ALL JW TEACHINGS.

  Dubs pick issues to emphasize like the trinity simply because they are in fact, non-issues. They don't matter. No one ever got hurt, had their lives ruined, or died because they did or didn't believe the trinity. (Religious crusades notwithstanding. People get killed in religious crusades for all sorts of stupid reasons, but I'm talking about a belief as a practical matter.)

  The same is true with hellfire/no hellfire. Those are simply matters of interpretation and don't affect our lives on earth.

  In light of that ask your sister how many lives were ruined or destroyed over believing in the trinity? Then ask her how many lives were ruined or destroyed for believing God will remove the hope of eternal salvation from you if you take: 1) vaccinations, 2) organ transplants, 3) any blood components whatsoever, 4) refuse alternative military service. Tens of thousands or more people died needlessly from that crap because they believed it was "God's will." Then abruptly, the Watchtower Doctrine-Making-Up and Printing Enterprise changed "God's will" and said it was "God's will" that is was now ok.

  How many people died needlessly because they couldn't eat meat on Friday? How many people died needlessly because they refused blood transfusion components that are now permissible?

  The trinity doesn't mean jack. It's merely a smoke-screen the WTS puts up to deflect the REAL damage they've done to people in their false prophets career.

  : Assuming things are really as presented (not always a safe presumption I realize), I just really love hanging out in a place where an ex District Overseer says "As I told you, there is a God and She has one ironic sense of humor."

  That ex District Overseer you are quoting is the genuine article. Some day when the time is right, I might post pictures of him with Knorr in the 1950's. Furthermore, a number of us know him, and there are posters here who knew him personally when he was serving in the Circuit and District work.

  In addition to what Maximus said, Bonnie's husband William was a member of the Board of Directors for the WTS. He was basically a "straw man" or shill for several of Rutherford's real estate dealings. He and Bonnie accompanied Rutherford virtually everywhere he went for nearly twenty years. Bonnie was Rutherford's personal secretary and only she took dictation on his books and articles. No on else was allowed to see what he wrote until it was ready to go to press.

  In 1939 a few years before Rutherford's death, the Heaths moved to Beth Shan, just across the canyon from Beth Sarim. It was every bit as big and opulent as Beth Sarim (the Beth Sarim home was 5,100 square feet).

  By serving as Rutherford's personal servants and shills they were handsomely rewarded, since Rutherford not only let them live in luxury but also took them to Europe with him from 4 to 8 weeks each summer.

  I don't remember what the society attributed his death to, but I certainly know they didn't tell the truth about it. I'll see if I can find what the society said about his death.

  No, not just in this case. It would be more apt to say in almost EVERY case for the WTS the truth is too embarrassing to acknowledge!
