A difficult yet necessary decision
by Brother Jeramy inthe past five weeks have been perhaps the most painful in my life as a witness.. some months ago a young man (i'd say in his late thirties or early forties) began attending meetings at my kingdom hall.
he had just moved to my area from another state.
he had disassociated himself from his home congregation many years back, when he was 20 years old and going through many of the typical trials and temptations most young men experience.. two of the elders met with him initially, and they later shared the details with the body of elders.

BROTHER JERAMY - Apology accepted. Don't sweat it. Anything you said before the scales fell from your eyes had nothing to do with reality - and everything to do with the WT cult mind control you were under the influence from. We've all been there. I was born and raised in the JW organization just like you - in from birth until age 44 - when I exited 12 years ago. It truly is a life changing experience to realize the truth about the alleged "truth" and it takes some time to adjust to a new life where freedom of mind is yours to be cherished and to realize that we CAN trust our instincts. Congratulations on trusting your instincts and intuition regarding your young friend being unjustly treated. He's lucky to have a friend like you. Take care, Peace out, Mr. Flipper -

oh well .. maybe i will just rub it in with them tomorrow .make them feel guilty , eh ?.
then again i might just start singing "76 trombones" at the dinner table tonight .

There is No Reason to be Afraid!! ( of Freedom )
by kairos inthinking of leaving the jws for good is frightening.engaging a quality fade is nerve racking!there can be horrible consequences that can leave one shunned.even the most careful fade can be undone by many means and loved ones.. one must weigh the consequences of leaving with true freedom.yes, that kind.

The other thing I really value is living a REAL LIFE as Kairos mentions in his thread. One of the problems with the Jehovah's Witnesses is they always use this expression " the life we are living right now isn't the REAL life, the real life comes in Paradise ". I mean, it's ridiculous. If I pinch myself right now- I hurt. If I cut my arm. I bleed- seems pretty damn real to me ! So JW's are manipulated in their minds to cheapen their view of living in the " here and now " - and are ALWAYS pointing to the future time in " Paradise " when they will live a " real " life. So since they disrespect the here and now- view it as NOT important is it any surprise in how they treat outside people who they think will be destroyed or even treat each other ?
So living in REALITY has been a great thing, a real blessing for me. I no longer fear a fictitious " Armageddon " because it ain't going to happen folks. None of us have to live in fear or guilt anymore because the big, bad dream is NOT true. Go live your life and live it happily and well. It's our best revenge on what the JW organization tried to steal away from us- our freedom and our minds . Peace out, Mr. Flipper

THOMAS- Thanks for informing us here about it on the board. I will try to download the program and listen to it. The more public broadcastings we have on any media level the more WT Society will be exposed to the public regarding unjust child abuse policies. Good job -

How do you feel about exJW's who resist our efforts to effect change?
by nicolaou ini've met a few.
i'm not talking about the jw who, whether df'd or not, falls off the radar and just gets on with living a normal life - good luck to them and may there be many more!.
i mean the former jehovah's witness who is now enjoying all the benefits of a cult free life thanks to the efforts of many bloggers, posters and activists, but is critical of the efforts of someone close them to free more jws.

NICOLAOU- Very good thread, good discussion topic. I have experienced the very same thing that you have my friend. My niece who has been out of the Witnesses since 1998 when she was 18 wouldn't directly criticize me for trying to open JW's eyes- but her view was that she respected the JW's right to decide what course they wanted to take the same way she wanted to be left alone by them to pursue the course SHE wanted to take.
And I really DO get that reasoning in some ex-JW's and more power to them. However- that being said - I agree with you that it doesn't mean that many of us who WANT to assist JW's to see how they are being mind controlled should be criticized for wanting to help people. As my niece stated JW's have DECIDED to make these decisions to stay- but my theory is that " no, they really HAVEN"T decided on their OWN to stay- they have been conned into staying or coerced to stay by cult mind control and manipulation . " And as time has gone on - my niece has seen that what I've been telling her is true. And she is seeing just how MUCH JW's and WE ourselves were manipulated in our minds as Witnesses . And now she accepts more so that I'm on this board and trying to assist people to see the injustices within the WT Society and open peoples eyes.
As Scully stated there is a right way to do it - not by knocking JW's over the head like Rick Ferron did all the time, but an ex-JW can make really good points with JW's to get them to think as long as we leave them with their dignity intact and don't become too combative just for the sake of becoming combative- if you get my drift.
There are ways to get our points across without causing huge fights which causes us to just be pissing in the wind anyway because then JW's get so defensive we don't accomplish anything but a waste of time and arguments. If it gets to that point when I'm talking to JW's I won't waste my time for hours and hours- I just excuse myself and say " you need to look at the facts and information on the Internet to inform yourself ". Then leave.
Interesting thread, thanks for posting it ! I think it's important for those of us who WANT to speak to JW's to help that we maintain our courage to do so . It doesn't matter what naysayers may think- what matters is caring and helping people

KAIROS- Great thread topic- really well written indeed. I think that's a fair appraisal of the situation- many of us DID go through HELL, er , Gehenna to exit this high control organization. But as you say - the price we pay is TOTALLY worth it. The thing I cherish the most in my 12 years out after escaping " witch " mountain ( WT mountain ) is like you state the freedom of mind to decide for myself how my life will go ! Some of us who were born-ins ( my JW parents became JW's 8 years before I was born ) had absolutely no choice in the matter for the first 18 years of our life. For many folks that's almost 25 % of your life ! So it does indeed take a TREMENDOUS amount of courage to take the chance of moving forward in life away from the cult when you know a nuclear fallout will occur with JW family relationships - whether it's adult children like I have or siblings, parents , spouses or whomever.
I was 44 years old when I exited almost 12 years ago and aside from marrying Mrs. Flipper 9 years ago- it's the best decision I ever made in my life. I'm able to pursue hobbies and interests that I never had the time for and even pursue earning a little more money in my business without being made to feel I'm being " materialistic " when I'm just trying to get by, pay the bills , and feed my family ! We are the owners of our own destiny. We don't have to give away our power to anybody anymore without our consent ! Freedom kicks ass totally.
Although I hope my adult daughters some day exit the JW organization - I do have my son out and we are close . And nephews and nieces who are now out of the cult. So we all will be there for any other JW relatives who decide to exit in their own time- however we won't sacrifice our freedom of mind to go back and pretend to be a JW just to have a " fake " relationship where we wouldn't be happy anyway . Our JW relatives may some day respect us more if we stick to our guns and by living a happy, successful, good life it will make them wonder HOW we are able to do it without the JW organization. Cause them a little cognizant dissonance ! Anyway- Kind of how I see it ! I'm glad you have your freedom of mind Kairos and I'm glad to be a friend . Take care, Peace out, Mr. Flipper

Remember Going Out In Field Service Before Thursday and Friday's Heat-Stroke Convention at Dodger Stadium?
by The1975Blues ini don't think the kids will remember going out in field service at your convention's city location helping the fiends do their territory.
on top of the horrendous heat-stroke sitting at dodger stadium we had to preach earlier in the week!
i heard some elderly witnesses speaking about "those were the good old days they thought" the grand old time they had while visiting the city of los angeles!

1975 BLUES- Interesting thread. I remember being a young kid of about 10 years old sitting at those horridly HOT, HOT L.A. Dodger stadium assemblies in the late 1960's that would last for 6 or 7 days ( seemed like eternity ) and sweat pouring off of me as I tried to scrounge under an umbrella that my dad and mom huddled under. It was BRUTAL.
We lived a couple hours north and we stayed with my grandmother down there - so we never went out in service there. The ONLY silver lining to these horrid district conventions at Dodger Stadium were the damned Snow Cones with grape flavoring that they would make. It kept me from passing out on the spot and melting in my seat. I constantly was begging my mom and dad for those Snow Cones ! LOL. Dodger Stadium assemblies were a chapter of my young life I'd just as soon forget . I'm glad we all have our freedom now and don't have to sit through those horrendous occasions

CALEB'S - From what I heard or read on another thread on this board - the Connecticut child abuse victims did not win their case , sadly. The judge was a prick and ruled against them , why- I don't know. Perhaps someone else will be able to bring up the child abuse thread that explained the ruling in favor of the WT Society. Maybe Barbara Anderson knows more details about this case. You might PM her. Perhaps the JW child abuse victims will appeal, but I haven't seen anything recently on this. You might Google JW Connecticut Child abuse case and come up with something. Best I can do bud -

Right on. Whether this particular threat is legit. or not- it doesn't matter. It's something that needs to be addressed and spoken up about anyway- the injustices and indiscretions of the WT Society. I'm all for it if it's legit . Hope they hack the hell out of the WT Society. And expose lots of immoral skeletons in the JW organization closet. The more people that do this - the better. Who cares what JW's think ? The public and real world view and opinion of this criminal organization is what counts- not what JW's think -
