I agree with DATA DOG. I disagree with the ethics of this judge as well. I think he HAS no ethics . The quote, " better left to the individual clergyman involved and the discipline of the religious body of which he is a member " ? WTF ? Uh-huh. What if the " clergymen " involved are all freaking child molesters as well as the " religious body " involved ?

To me- it's pretty obvious. This Justice Peter Siggins was either threatened by the WT Society or paid big, big $$$$$$ from the WT Society under the table to minimize how much the WT Society had to pay out. Pretty obvious. Because his ruling is totally unjust. I mean - come on- this comment by Siggins " the courts should likewise be wary to intrude in this realm " ( religious organizations ) . Yeah, especially if the appellate court judge possibly got threatened by WT Society strong armed thugs. This is NOT without precedent.

During the Menlo Park fiasco the elders involved in exposing the WT Society had one of their adult children run off the road by WT secret spies and almost got killed in a car wreck purposely caused by WT undercover spies in order to strong arm these elders into silence.

Nothing the WT Society does anymore surprises me. It's a much more subversive , criminal and powerful organization than most people here or elsewhere realize. Until the federal government steps in and stops treating strong armed cults like Scientology and Jehovah's Witnesses with kid gloves- this kind of a travesty of justice will continue to prevail. I'm glad Candace got some judgment and justice out of it - it sets a precedent- but it doesn't hold the WT Society responsible ENOUGH for their actions and disrespect to innocent children's welfare.

When we live in a society that treats many religions like " sacred cows " and are intimidated by bringing the laws of the land against evildoers within these religions - true justice is dead. Religion is the bane of all mankind and is it any wonder that John Lennon sang of a utopian world where there would be " no religion too " ? Too much superstition, crimes and wars are fomented and put forth by allowing religion free roam in our society. We as individuals have to fight for our freedom to exist as religion and unjust judges are there to steal those freedoms to exist safely

TOESUP- Me and my mom went through the same thing you did as a kid waiting past 11:00 P.M. after meetings for my dad to get out of elders meetings. One time when I was about 8 years old- I got so tired of trying to stay awake that I fell asleep on the Kingdom hall steps going up to the stage. My mom had been waiting in the car - and not until my dad drove home with my mom did they realize that they had locked the kingdom hall and left me sleeping alone on the steps inside the Kingdom hall- they forgot to load me into the car !

So they went back to the Kingdom hall and picked me up and found me still asleep on the stage steps ! Thank god I didn't wake up or I would have felt I was dead in hell - or something in the dark. Shows you how much my elder dad had on his mind when he didn't even realize his own son was missing on the way home from a meeting ! LOL. Fortunately I've recovered in my adult life

i am pretty stunned as i write this post.

i guess i shouldn't be after reading years and years of similar incidents on these forums, but here i am nonetheless.

he was convicted in 2001 of possessing child pornography and sentenced to 1 to 2 years in prison.. .

WING COMMANDER- Pretty disgusting behavior indeed. I know how you feel. I know it's shocking when it hits close to where our hometowns are - but I had the same experience as you when I first started googling registered sex offenders that were in my hometown back in 2007 when I first caught wind of the WT child abuse problem.

What I discovered astounded me- out of about 1,000 registered sex offenders in my hometown where I was raised in California were the names of 12 JW's or former JW's I had known and talked to in my first 25 years in the JW cult there. Some had been elders, some had been elders sons, one of them as a matter of fact not only molested his own sisters children- he had sex with his own sister- the MOTHER of the children he molested ! Doesn't get much creepier than that. Pretty sick.

It just goes to show that as JW's we REALLY did NOT know what went on behind closed doors. And to discover this $hit sometimes makes us wish we didn't know. Utterly disgusting. And something needs to be done about it. One reason we need to be exposing these abuses that keep happening within the WT and JW organization

as many of us saw in the pbs news hour program and the abc news nightline program the elders from one congregation failed to communicate properly to the elders in another congregation concerning the child molester jonathan kendrick when he moved to a new congregation.

i have parts of this " introduction letter " from the fremont congregation to the oakley congregation elders so you can read it for yourself and decide how irresponsible these wt appointed elders were.

VIDIOT- Very good points you make about WT liability and how they would rather " chew off their right arm " than to admit that what they've done is wrong. WT Society and WT leaders have ALWAYS been that arrogant and haughty. There was definite liability involved in the Kendrick case - one reason Candace Conti won her case regarding negligence on WT Society's part- but WT leaders will NEVER admit fault. Too prideful.

FINKELSTEIN- Kendrick didn't get charged yet or attacking Candace Conti because he has continually denied the charges. Watch him in the you tube towards the end of the ABC News Nightline video clip and he gets VERY aggressive in his denial towards the ABC news reporter actually him and his wife were REALLY aggressive towards the reporter. It smacks of guilt written all over him. Why else would he get that upset ?

I know there have been Catholic priests charged with a hell of a lot less evidence- I do hope that Kendrick WILL be put away and locked up for what he's done to Candace - I hope that ship hasn't sailed. I hope the police in the area will revisit this case. I mean- if Candace has already won the lawsuit you would think they'd reopen the case against Kendrick, right ? Makes one wonder

Thanks for the replies ! I'll bring this thread up to date.

FINKELSTEIN- Thanks for the you tube . Very informative. I agree - if we can all get the message out to JW's or non-JW's - we can effect a change in giving people access to important information concerning WT Society injustices. It's something that continually needs to be done in my opinion.

CARLA- True- current JW's would disregard or not believe the Kendrick letter- except for JW's who are sitting on the fence with doubts about the WT organization already. It's a real process that takes time in a JW's mind when they start doubting. For some to leave- it takes longer than others- but cracks in the JW armor start showing and in time the dam can break and the flood of TTATT starts leaking in. We can only hope that more JW's start seeing the REAL light- and escape towards freedom of mind

i remember when i signed up on this site as totally add which was 5 years ago plus.

i had a horror story to tell about the abuses i went through as a child in this cult.

since then mentally i am much better.

STILL TOTALLY ADD- Excellent thread ! Thanks for posting it. Even though physical and sexual abuse was and still is rampant within the JW organization- many of us being raised up as children in the organization had our minds " raped " as you will- indoctrinated with such hardcore prejudices, viewpoints, and hatred towards the outside world that like you say it takes years to de-program us .

After 11 years totally out of the WT mind control since 2003- I feel like I've virtually totally healed my mind and body as well. It wasn't easy for me as I had a very dominating elder father who never once told me that he loved me- ever- in my entire life and he's now almost 90 years old. Still an elder in the cult. Fortunately I had an incredibly great relationship with my JW mom who told me she loved me all the time and is willing to listen to my views about leaving the organization and respects me for the viewpoints I have. We still talk on the phone 3 times a week and she's 88 years old.

So we CAN be survivors but it takes re-educating our minds with such writings as Steve Hassan's books and instilling in our brain neurotransmitters OTHER valuable "worldy" information that will replace the WT garbage that was indoctrinated into our minds. Once we get that garbage OUT of our brains and replace it with positive information that can assist us in our life- we are well on the road to healing from the JW experience. At least that's how it worked for me.

As regards the opening thread- I DO feel like some others here that WT legal will craft a letter to the elders indicating tighter restrictions regarding pedophiles going out in field service. I don't know what those restrictions may be- it might be that pedophiles are ONLY allowed to work with elders out in the field service.

But here's the point- since 99 % of these child molesters keep abusing again - if a JW child molester wants to go out in service in private - what's to prevent him from doing so from his own house in a secret fashion ? It would be a very hard thing to police. I mean Kendrick snuck off and did it straight from the kingdom hall parking lot ! Taking Candace Conti with him back to his house. WT Society would have to institute a system in place to guard these pedophiles virtually 24 /7. And honestly- I just don't think WT Society leaders CARE that much, if not at all. Money is the prime concern.

It will be interesting to see if the WT leaders are reactive to this negligence court judgment and see what, if anything - they do

HOLDME-THRILL ME- Welcome to the board indeed ! Nice to have you here. I was born in the JW organization and in it from birth until age 44 over 11 years ago when I left. I too had to face the hard truth of being lied to and acknowledging the arrogance and injustices committed by men leading the WT organization- men I was told I could trust and had my best " interests " at heart and were supposed to offer me life eternal. That too was a lie.

Like yourself I read Crisis of Conscience by Ray Franz - but the 3 books that REALLY assisted me in losing the mind control and indoctrination of the Jehovah's Witnesses were Steve Hassan's 3 books on cult mind control : 1 . Combatting Cult Mind Control 2. Releasing the Bonds - Empowering People to Think for Themselves 3. Freedom of Mind - Helping Loved Ones Leave Controlling people, Cults and Beliefs. Steve Hassan's website is : www.freedomofmind.com. How these books helped me was in showing me HOW the WT Society affected me psychologically and emotionally in a negative way. It helped me to see the intrusive, deceptive, manipulating methods that mind control cults like Jehovah's Witnesses, Scientology, and Mormons use in getting the upper hand controlling members lives. I feel it would really benefit you- I highly recommend looking into Hassan's books. It really helped me- especially having been raised a JW from birth as it was all I used to know. i'm not an expert but that is my understanding of this: .

opinion filed.. (signed published) the judgment against defendants on the negligence count is affirmed.

the judgment against watchtower on the cause of action for punitive damages is reversed with directions to enter judgment for watchtower on punitive damages.

This was definitely a win for Candace Conti regarding the negligence of the WT Society and THAT is what she was trying to accomplish in the first place. So what if she was awarded only $$$$ 7 million for WT negligence instead of $$$$$$ 21 million for the punitive - WT Society was still found liable and negligent. This case has set a precedent regarding WT Society negligence - and due to the fact WT leaders have NOT really changed their child abuse policies - this will bode well for the other child abuse lawsuits coming down the pike against the WT Society. This was a win-win for Candace , her family, and everybody fighting on her behalf and on behalf of children being protected
