Gary- The elders probably questioned you about looking into Russell's work because they thought you'd find things which would refute their current beliefs and takes on things. They are dumb as rocks and couldn't explain anything to you. They are paranoid anyway! Zack- It's true there is a very fine line between imputing wrong motives to someone and gossiping about them, if there is any difference at all.Peace to you, Thanks, Mr. Flipper

Were Wrong Motives Ever Imputed to You?
by flipper inhello all, mr. flipper again.
when i was a witness, a lot of times i saw situations come up where someone was trying to be helpful to someone in need either spiritually, financially, emotionally or otherwise, and people would try to find fault with the good individual for helping someone.
what causes people to do that to others, jealousy of their goodness or what?

Guilt over a happy marriage
by Frequent_Fader_Miles inlong before i began my fade, there was a certain "sister" in the congo who married a non-jw man.
she was very happily married despite of all the forecasts of "doom and gloom" among the "friends".
how sad it was to hear her make the following comment in conversation - "sometimes i feel badly about marrying an unbeliever, since other sisters may look at me and follow my example.

Frequent Fader, Mr. Flipper here. I find in being a fading witness, being married to a nonwitness is wonderful. First of all, I'm with a woman who accepts me, my hobbies, doesn't try to make me feel that I'm a bad person for listening to Led Zeppelin, or watching R-rated movies. She is a wonderful person inside and out, 24 hours a day. She doesn't just turn on the charm at the kingdom hall, then act terrible in the privacy of our home when others aren't looking, as my ex did. She is an easy person to be with 24/7, love of my life. What could be better than that? That sister needs to have her head examined for fearing what others in the congregation think about her being married to a nonwitness. Who bloody cares? Mr. Flipper of the happy with my worldy wife class.(Borrowing from snakesthere).LOL

How to get the News out to Witnesses About their Child Molestation Coverup?
by flipper inhello all.i just want to welcome any suggestions you might have to keep getting the molestation coverup and settlements in the forefront of the witnesses minds.
as you know i talked with an elder and his wife who came to my door for 30 minutes about it.
also mrs. flipper and i have left upwards of 200 news release fliers on witness cars parked at kingdom halls.

Midwich, very good suggestion. Think I'll mail out a lot of them this week . Thanks. Awake & Watching- How about sending some news release fliers out in your area?? Thanks!! Alpha & Omega, I agree keep it simple. The ap press release was. Long Hair Gal- I agree very much with you. That's the reason I'm mailing out to many congregations in this 100 mile area the news release from the associated press, so they can see it's in a secular newspaper, not a printed item from silent lambs. Peace to you, Mr. Flipper

Neverendingjourney, my dad now 82 an elder, always mentions when he visits us, well you know the ends getting close.. It's closer than ever. Does he mean his end or the end, end? I remember him telling me as a 16 year old in 1975, you know you might not get married till the paradise. Fast forward to 2007. Now I'm almost 48 on my third marriage, my kids are all early 20's, and weirdly enough, within a year or two I could be a grandfather!! How long do the witnesses feel they can dupe these people into believing this bs? As long as people can keep sending donations, wills, sign over estates, inheritances, etc. to keep the org. floating, they'll get new light from upstairs that tells them that really Russell made a lot of miscalculations. The new last days start at 2014, not 1914. Ya know, typical 100 year blunder. LOL, Peace, Mr. Flipper

Just Witnessed at my Door to an Elder and his Wife About Child Molestation
by flipper inhello all, just had an interesting conversation with a p.o.
elder and his wife who were leaving me a incognito invitation to the "follow the christ" convention.i declined the invitation, but told them i had an associated press article i'd like to leave with them about molestation settlements jw's made outside of court.
i asked if they were aware of this settlement.

Compound- Hi, again. It's so true that the evil starts at the top. Most of the rank and file members are'nt aware of this and those that suspect bad motives from the governing body are too scared out of their shorts to question it, because of fear of repercussions from others. Also my wife and I have talked about it, and some witnesses are fearful to question it, because it would leave them without answers to what life is about, their purpose for existing, and all other major issues in their life. To them believing in something, even if it's doubtful, is worth more than the scary thing of believing in nothing or not knowing what you believe in!! What a paradox to put oneself in

Divorce rates among JWs higher?
by AK - Jeff indo you believe that divorce rates among jw's is higher or lower than the averages now?.
in the us - at least recently - it was said that about 50% of all marriages will end in divorce.. for decades as a jw - i believed that jw's were immune from this statistic.
among the older married couples divorce seemed almost unheard of - and still, among the older crowd, that holds true i believe.

Hello Jeff. Mr. Flipper here. In my years as a witness I saw at least probably about 15 to 20 couples that I can think of that divorced. It happened often. I think it's probably near the national average of 50%.I think the org. wants to embellish their statistics so people on the outside think the witnesses are mostly immune to divorce, because of they're pushing goody, goody, family life principles. Don't want to lose converts, God forbid! Nevertheless, I was aware when in the witnesses of a case where a man and woman left their respective mates, got dfed, married each other while out, then got reinstated and put back in good standing within 2 to 3 years. I think they used to call that, "planning ahead for the desires of the flesh". I knew even close friends that got divorced. Some remarried, some didn't, but it goes without saying that divorce hurts whether it's in the witnesses or outside the witnesses. It's a sad thing.Peace out, Mr. Flipper

Hello all.I just want to welcome any suggestions you might have to keep getting the molestation coverup and settlements in the forefront of the witnesses minds. As you know I talked with an elder and his wife who came to my door for 30 minutes about it. Also Mrs. Flipper and I have left upwards of 200 news release fliers on witness cars parked at kingdom halls. One of the posters says that at one hall where we left fliers, they got paranoid and suspicious and started patrolling the parking lot during every meeting. I've personally talked with a few of my witness family members about it with mixed results. What about you all? Any suggestions on how to reach the witnesses? I've also left these fliers in public shopping mall parked cars too. Have you had any success or interesting experiences to share so we may put our collective heads together and come up with some options to present this to witnesses? Believe me , I'd say 90% of them don't even know these settlements took place. Look forward to hearing from you all. Peace to you all, Mr. Flipper

Hello folks. Thank you for all your replies on this. It really helps. And thanks for your kind words. Guest with Questions- Indeed the witnesses need to see that there are informed, educated non witnesses concerned about what their organization allows. Witnesses feel they have the market cornered on "percieved" truth. As you said I hope they have changed their tactic and let them talk to us more at the door. They are so uneducated on even their own policies,I relish the opportunity to rip them a good one and disprove what they believe. And I'll do it with respect and a smile on my face and they won't even realize they're being undressed mentally. Lonely Sheep- So true. Intuition, questioningthings, and education. All important. Jim_TX- Thanks! The elders wife said it occured in her family, but didn't say who it occured to. Hope she thinks on it! Mum- People's senses of justice are getting appalled by the jw's policies. It's time to speak up!! Rebirth- I know what you mean. I'm amazed they can tolerate themselves tolerating molestation coverups. They show haterd for children, not love! Vernon- Thanks! They were riveted! Sass my Frass- I hope the wife does research on this and thinks things over. Unique1- My motive was to make them think.Jw's are taught not to think but to, OBEY! Hoping 4 Change- It's that same alleged "humility" that keeps the governing body holding a secret database file of 27,000 known child molesters from being revealed to authorities! Don't think that's humility, it's called arrogance! Truthseeker- Most of these witnesses have not heard of these molestation settlements. That's why we have to blow trumpets, bang tambourines, or do anything to get it across to their members this happened! Thanks all, keep the thoughts comin', Peace, Mr. Flipper

How Many Former Elders/MS Taught What You Wanted & Ignored The Rest?
by Seeker4 inthis was prompted by the thread on whether you enjoyed being an elder or ms. some mentioned they taught what they wanted when they were an elder.
that was personally true of myself.
there were some things i stopped teaching over the years, and would refuse to counsel the friends about.

Seeker 4, good topic! Mr. Flipper here. I was an ms for 6 years gave public talks, and generally stuck to the outline but would spice it up a bit with my own thoughts, but never controversial or debatable. There was one elder in our circuit in the early 80's who when showing a slide presentation he had , played Neil Young's "Old Man" song with the presentation to talk about the effects of aging and how we won't go through that in the paradise!! I like Neil Young's songs , thought it was kinda cool, but the elders and co found out and well, you guessed it, no more talks allowed with Neil Young music. Gawd!, I should have tried to play Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven" during one of my talks while I had the chance! Oh well! I'll be content to listen at home on the stereo. Peace to you, Mr. Flipper
