WB&TS of Pennsylvania financial figures
by expatbrit ina few financial figures that happen to have fallen into my sweaty palms.
while only a small piece of the wt's financial jigsaw puzzle, they effectively illustrate the level of $ under the society's control.

A bad case of the clap
by expatbrit inback in the uk, i remember that at the baptisms, the audience were told not to applaud until the last candidate had been dunked.
this, we were informed, gave the occassion a proper sense of dignity and decorum.
in general, clapping was restrained at assemblies.

Reaching out
by expatbrit ini grew up a jw.
finally stopped attending meetings at age 31.. in all that time, i never "progressed" beyond the ministry school, wt reading and the microphone running stage.. it was not for lack of so-called encouragement.
without wanting to blow my own trumpet, i'm was a good public reader and speaker (mostly because of copying words and sentence structure from the likes of charles dickens in my talks).

An eye for an eye?
by expatbrit ini was reading about how an internet company wants to transmit timothy mcveigh's execution over the internet on a pay-per-view basis.. it disturbed me that society appears to be drifting backwards in this regard, that not only are there people who want to make money from this situation, there are also many people apparently willing to view it for entertainment purposes.. of course, nothing would pack in the historical crowds like a public execution.
but the gradual enlightenment of society made public executions a footnote of history, and the death penalty appeared to be following.. and that made me consider what my attitude is to the death penalty itself.. in wt land the death penalty is considered to be "divine justice".
the bible brims to the covers with accounts of executions using the most excrutiating methods, such as stoning.
