  the following is from the comments section of the independent article about the 22 year old jw with sickle cell anaemia who died in england last week while refusing blood.

  maria makes aguest sound laconic so i don't blame you if you can't be bothered reading it all but the jw cliches and lies are all too familiar.

  i'm guessing she is at the thursday meeting about now so maybe she will respond again later.. .

  Unexpected call from my JW Sister - Unbelievable Hypocrisy!

  i posted a long experience earlier today along with an email letter from my sister.

  sent to me back in january informing me she was going to be shunning me.. had not heard a word from her for 6 months then.

  my sister called out of the blue one evening last month.

  OMG!!! I would be pissed too Sheila. Such cowardly hypocrites!

  My family had an anniversary party several years ago while my father was df'ed and there were non witness family memebers there. I remember my non-jw cousin (has a big mouth and this time I welcomed it) was telling different people at the party just what he thought of the dubs ignoring his uncle. My dad was very hurt by it too and was sitting out on the front porch in defiance, I think. But, sadly, he is now back in the fold defending the org. Thankfully though my family doesn't shun me although sometimes I wish they would. J/k I don't mean to make lite of the situation . . .

  I'm so sorry you are going thru this. Hopefully one day they'll come to their senses.

  back in november of 2011, i received a phone call from my ex, bill bowen.

  he informed me that his dad had died of a massive heart attack.

  I'm sorry for your pain. Isn't amazing how dubs can leave the cult then come back in full force and act like self righteous bitches - your words :) ? You would think they would be more understanding and some are but it seems like far more prop themselves up on a pedastal. It is very said and infuriating especially when it is family cutting ties.

  I too hope your sister comes to her senses one day and you both are able to laugh about it all.

  I think the Society might drop its appeal over the Conti case

  i've been giving some thought to the recent development in which the judge has ruled that the society is barred from completing any property transactions until the appeal is over, which could take up to two years or even more.. i've submitted an article to randy at freeminds in which i basically argue that it is no longer in the society's interests to appeal this case.

  if i correctly understand the restrictions placed on the society by the judge, then the governing body has far more to lose by appealing than they could conceivably gain.. think about it.... by appealing, they buy themselves time in which to formulate a long-term strategy for dealing with the fallout of this case, but will be barred from liquidating $1 billion in property assets at a time of global economic uncertainty when their donations are dwindling.

  there is also no guarantee that their appeal will be upheld.by dropping their appeal, they take a hit and pay $23.8 million but retain the freedom to see through their real estate projects; retain their financial flexibility to respond to dwindling donations, and get to pretend to their followers (as with the un scandal) that it never happened.of course, i am only saying that dropping the appeal would be the only intelligent option for the society, assuming they are aware of how legally precarious their child abuse policies are.

  i have a friend that calls witness, jovies in a very deriding way.

  "i saw the jovies in the street....haha".

  personally, i don't think it's very nice or even mature.... but what do i know?.

  I do but only for a laugh not to be hurtful. I'll make fun of my own mother for a laugh. Gotta have a sense of humor.

  Actually, I am pretty respectful at least most of the time. I know who can handle the humor and who can't .
