  i don't know how you feel but i am pleased to be part of a community that cares about fellow members.

  although we may not know individuals in person, we get a "sense" of many of our fellow posters especially if we have been here for any length of time.. several of our fellow posters have experienced terrible tragedies that result in financial nightmares.

  i don't know how all of you feel, but i would rather give directly to someone in need than through a charity.

  i have been reading this board for about 4 years.

  after 38 years of being a baptized jehovah's witness, i did some research on the internet and found enough evidence to quit.

  that was 4 years ago and i am so much happier now.

  Since the last year, how long have you been without a computer or internet?

  i had no internet service for the last 36 hours, and it drove me nuts.. that made me realize how addicted most of us are to the internet.. so, in the last year, what's the longest you've been without going on the internet?.

  Zero, no huricanes, no floods, no fires, no earthquakes, no power outages or cable, in the last couple of years. Now that I said that, when I go home it will be down.

  For Those Raised in "Da Troof" Would Your Life Had Been Better If...

  you had been raised by the same family, but in a different religion, or non-religious home?

  i am not addressing birthdays or holidays.

  i am thinking about everyday life.. the reason i ask, is that so much of our parents problems may have been caused, or enhanced by "da troof.

  Where do I start? I never had a father. If my mother wasn't in that f*ed up religion, she might have moved on with her life, when he left her. I guess you need two witnesses for that too. My life would have been much better, much easier, more satisfying, if I have gotten an education. I essentially dropped out of school in 9th grade, when my mother started sending me to a non-accredited JW teacher. Three years later, we found out that I would get no credit for those years. I went back and got a GED at 32 years old, when the big A hadn't come.

  What do you think the Earth will be like in 20 years time?

  apparently according to the latest info (presented on a news channel) the earth as we now know it will be drastically different in 20 years time.

  ie new coastlines, hotter temperatures.

  they are painting a very bleak future unless we make drastic changes now.

  I fear that America will have suffered a nuclear attack within the next 20 years and will be suffering from the effects of that. Probably Europe also. Arabs and moslems go wild. Probably suitcase bombs in major cities to further Bushwack and destroy the economy.

  Sounds like a dub talking to me. Why so negitive?

  The fact is that now is unquestionably the best time in all human history to be alive.

  That is so true. And in 20 years it will be better, we all will be living longer healthier lives. Everyone should be planning to live for least 100 years. Will you have enough retirement savings to last 40 or 50 years? I am planning for 50 years and my JW sister isn't getting a dime, she is not in my retirement plan.
