Do you still feel guilty, not going to the memorial?
by JH inthe first time i missed the memorial, i was sick and couldn't go, and felt guilty because that meeting was so important.. then another year, i missed again, this time i wasn't sick.
i still felt guilty, because i still believed in the religion to a certain extent.
i didn't go because i didn't want to go back to the meetings, and feel trapped once more.. maybe some feel guilty that they aren't doing anything for the memorial or easter, depending which religion you think is right, because after all jesus did say to remember him..

I used to feel guilty about not attending, but not anymore.
Yay for 100 posts, and not being a newbie anymore! -

No witnesses know me around here, and I live in a gated community with a no soliciting sign :) so I didn't get invited nor do I intend on going.

One style of classical music I've found that I like recently is polyphonic chant. Like stuff by Heinrich Schutz, or Johannes Ockeghem.

Actually it was made in the 70's, 1979 I think. Still a good series, and worth watching.
I have the DVD box set for this series.

If you had to, what religion would you choose to be?
by Crumpet inyou can answer this as seriously (lt) or as inanely (buttlight) as you like!
i was reflecting having read someone's thread about blowing off non jw family that actually it would have been so much better if i had a larger family, preferably not completely jw saturated and this random train of thought led me to thinking that if i could choose i would be catholic, because then i would have a huge family, go to really nice gothic churches with lots of candles and tortured saints and be able to go to confession (instead of lt's mobile).
also the colours of the whore of babylon always were a lot more enticing to me than the mild blues and undistracting beiges of the khs.. i think we all have religions which would suit our personalities so much better.

If I had to choose I'd probably go with Buddhism.

I've seen this mentioned here before too, and I thought about posting the same thing. I was raised in "the truth", grew up in the 80's, and I watched the Smurfs almost every weekend. I never heard of them being bad before. I do remember He-Man being frowned upon though.

Did You Feel "Good" When You Were Being Persecuted?
by minimus ini know that as a youngster, i felt pretty good about myself because i remained "faithful" and didn't eat birthday cake while everyone else was enjoying it.......i know of wives that came into the hall with a black eye "for jehovah" and were almost deified because of their "stand".
were you persecuted for righteousness sake?
how did it make you feel????

Not standing for the pledge or anthem.
Not going trick or treating, and hiding in a dark house on Halloween.
Not singing Christmas songs during chorus.
Not playing Christmas songs in orchestra.
Not going to school dances.
Not saying yes to the cute girls asking you out.
Not going to various other worldly social events, and quickly no longer getting anymore invites.
Etcetera... etcetera...
Feeling that I was serving Jehovah, and being "no part of this world" when I was ridiculed for.. well for being a weirdo. Man, I was a righteous loser.
Thank you WBTS for ruining my childhood! Bunch of numbnuts.

Do you believe in God? oR Jesus?
by themonster123 inso....do any of you believe in some person in the sky floating around called jesus?
or having a relationship with that person (or god) who is in some other dimension apparantly?
being a witness, they stressed so much having a relationship with "jehovah" and all that.

Lately, I subscribe to George Carlin's view of things.
