I've had a lot of help from some friends, co-workers, carting me to the doctors, and getting me some things at the store over the past few weeks. Someone even made me pecan encrusted salmon and tilapia. I should get cancer more often.

Well I go back for a follow up CT scan on the 15th, and another appointment with the oncologist on the 17th. Depending on the findings they may refer me to MD Anderson in Houston. Unfortunately since this cancer is so rare there isn't really a standard treatment, and only one drug specificly for ACC. It's called mitotane, and it's derived from DDT.

Hopefully the CT scan will reveal they got all the tumor and it didn't spread.

Fortunately I have decent insurance, and disability ins so financially I'm doing ok. Met-Life is pretty tight fisted with their disability payments though.

Not 100%, but I'm gaining weight back, (according to the pathology report they lopped a little over 6lbs. from my abdomen) and I drove yesterday for the first time since I was admitted to the hospital, and I went to the bank and got groceries all by myself! Tiring though, who knew a trip to the grocery store could be so... intensive.

Hello, It's the real loon here.

Well, It's adrenal cortical carcinoma, a very rare cancer. I'm still quite worn out from the operation. I see the oncologists again on the 31st and they will likely have a chemo regemine for me. I saw my urologist yesterday, and they said the lymphnodes they removed all tested cancer free, but in one section they found a few free floating cancer cells. I guess I'll get more details as to what that means when I see the oncologists. They are unsure about the spots in my lungs as they are very small only a few mm in size, I guess we'll see when I get another scan.

UPDATE:

SL will go into surgery at 11AM cst tomorrow to remove his Kidney and the Tumor. He has been transferred to Baylor Hospital which has access to some of the top doctors in this area. If all goes well he could be home and posting as early as Next Week. The doctors at Baylor are not concerned at this time with the spots on his lungs as they are very small. Thank you for all your well wishes.

Update:

They have determined that the tumor is to large and in a bad spot that removing it or the kidney would be a high risk operation. They have also now found nodules in his lungs...no determination of they are malignant or not. The head CT and bone scans have come back negative. They are giving SL a couple of options at this point...go ahead with the surgery or Go through Chemo to hopefully shrink the tumor then do the surgery. I beleive they will be doing a biopsy on the nodules in his lung tomorrow.

Thank you for all your responses I will be printing these out and giving him them to read.

Once again I will update when more info becomes available.

I am a close friend of SacraficialLoon and he requested that I come here and let you guys know what is going on.

Last night he went to the ER for some severe pain in his side. after several hours and a CT scan it was discovered that he has a tumor on his Kidney and will need to have his kidney removed. He is doing fine and as of right now we do not know exactly when the surgery will be. I will continue to provide updates as they come in.

Played that game for hours and hours

I swore I could hear the spinners, and guided missiles on Astrosmash before they appeared. Its a good thing that game had autofire else I would've worn my fingers raw.
