Does anyone have a copy of the 1982 or 1991? "Pay Attention to Yourselves and all the Flock"?? I read Izobcenec's thread about the jw tv exposure in Slovenia and am interested in reading what he quoted for myself. The book is quoted as teaching elders not to go to the authorities with crimes reported to them. downey -- two local women from a group calling themselves the "silent lambs" made a symbolic gesture monday, hanging a stuffed lamb doll on the door of the kingdom hall in downey; a move meant to protest alleged cases of child abuse within the jehovah's witnesses religious order.

Nice Work Cynthia!! Thanks for taking the time to post. I was told by a few jw's that it is "a problem with society" As if they were told to say those exact words. Sad, huh? Of course we know that society has this problem and that includes the WT 'society'! They just don't get that the point is not that abusers exist......we know that........it's about how we deal with the molester. I am still surprised when I see how robotic they are and I was once that way too. dj

Thankyou very much! You are wonderful! I am really shocked by that quote but I guess that nothing should surprise me anymore. I have heard of this book and I know we have it in the USA too. I don't care if it was 1982 or 1962! It is sick and it would have been sick even if it was written in 1800! I have to show this to my parents. Thankyou!!!!!! DJ

The desire to return just for family's sake

those of you who have close witness family members -- how hard has it been not to just throw up your hands and just return to the society, just for appearance's sake?

my parents, whom i love very much, are witnesses, and it's very difficult for me to go day to day knowing that i'm completely letting them down.

i no longer believe anything the society says, but oh how tempting it would be to just go back and fake my way through, knowing that i could give my parents peace.

Sorry about the birdie, he was really cute. I found your question to be really sad. For me personally, I couldn't go for the sake of their attentions. I would feel cheap in doing so. I would be going against everything that I believe and living a lie. Not worth it for me. I wish you the best. dj

Thanks for the post. I am confused. Is there an actual book written by the WTBS called, "The Secret Elders Manual"? The above sentence is a quote from it? Has anyone else heard this one? DJ

My parents and siblings are still dubs. I have finally been able to have communication with them for the past year. Prior to that I was basically shunned. My father is 72 and was diagnosed with brain cancer last year. When he was diagnosed, I felt the same way as Golden Girl does now. I have been able to have this past year with him and wouldn't trade it for the world. I kept my mouth shut when I was spewed with their false teachings and threats to come back to the 'truth'. I've assisted my family in every way possible because I love them and did not want to be shunned again. I have a deep love for my dad and I'm devastated by his illness. He is doing well now but this type of brain tumor recurs and most likely he will die from it. He may have anywhere from one month to live or he may live another year. The doctors do not hold out much hope.

I love my dad with all of my heart and always have. He is a very special man to me and extremely loveable by all. However, after reading the transcript of the Sunday show from Australia that Jang posted about the sexual abuse cases there, I have made a painful decision. I cried over this today but I have to do what I feel is the right and honorable thing to do within my own conscience. I have printed out the transcript and I will give it to my family to read. They are aware of the Dateline show but were calmed by the elders and told not to believe it. I know that when I give the transcript to them from Australian tv that they will see me as Satan and shun me again. Like I said, this is painful...I love my dad and I may never see him again but right is right and love is not lies. Pray for me? Love, DJ
