Yep, it is simple alright. The more I read the Bible the simpler it gets. No need to add extra words.

So, in other words, they cannot explain this Scripture without adding words to it. Words that, according to the Greek Interlinear (also in their possession) are not there.
Revelation 22:18:
I am bearing witness to everyone that hears the words of the prophecy of this scroll: If anyone makes an addition to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this scroll; and if anyone takes anything away from the words of the scroll of this prophecy, God will take his portion away from the trees of life and out of the holy city, things which are written about in this scroll. -

Unbaptized,
You are saying "Jehovah made Jesus (The Word), Jehovah & Jesus made all other things.Jehovah resurrected Jesus, Jehovah thru Jesus resurrects the righteous and unrighteous!" But the Bible says "3 All things came into existence through him, and apart from him not even one thing came into existence." (New World Translation). What this is saying is "All things came into existence through Jesus (or the Word), and apart from Jesus not even one thing came into existence." Therefore, that first statement of "Jehovah made Jesus" just does not make sense. Apart from Jesus not even ONE thing came into existence - it does not say anything about one thing being made and then Jesus made all things.....
I have researched this in the WT pub library and really don't find anything that addresses the question.
Terry,
I still believe that God is powerful enough to protect His word from adulteration. So I do tend to believe the Bible for what it says. I know this is a matter of personal faith, so it is fine if you differ. :-) -

How do JW's get around this verse? John 1:3 - "3Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made." I honestly can't remember and can't find anything in the pubs that deals with it. Jesus was created (they say) and yet, it says NOTHING was made except through him, which means he must have created himself.

Thank you. This was good. I still struggle with outrage and desire for a sense that justice will be done when they are so bloodguilty. Of course, most of them just choose to be blind and follow the leader, for which they are only to blame because of their chosen ignorance.

My Mom
by VanillaMocha73 inso.... mom calls me saturday to see if my 12 year old son wants to go to the memorial.
she left voicemail, so i managed to ignore the call until monday was safely past.
then, when i talk to her, she mentioned how many people were there, how nice it was, the nice elders in her kh.

I was irritated too. I think she has been in so long (30+ years) - she is older - she only has friends in the Borg. Also, her home was flooded recently, and she is staying with a Witness couple (for an exorbitant amount of rent), so maybe she is scared. But how selfish is that?
Oh and the couple she is staying with.... that is a whole 'nother story. What a trip. We have had to leave it that they have to contact ME (or my non-JW husband, since I am a scary apostate) regarding any financial matters - they have cheated and scammed her all over the place. -

The art of shunning your disfellowshiped family. What does it require?
by jambon1 into most of us here, the practise of shunning a relative who disagrees with the religion, or who chooses a different path, is utterly evil, repulsive and inhumane.. i will never forget the real life stories i have heard relating to the heartbreak and misery that this 'doctrine' brings to families all over the world.
but, what does it take to see through the councel to shun your own children, mother or father?
in my opinion, a person who shuns their offspring or other family, is void of any natural love or affection.

The clearest answer I ever got was from my mom - We are shaming you into being good, like God does. She stopped mid-sentence and realized the folly of that one. What loving God (or parent) uses shame to promote behaviour?

Then, when I talk to her, she mentioned how many people were there, how nice it was, the nice elders in her KH. This is the same woman who recommended I read Crisis of Conscience, gave me In Search of Christian Freedom and some other book that proves 1914 is a lot of BS. She knows the two classes are wrong, has told me lots of what the Borg teaches is just plain out of line, and was planning to do a fade out until she is now forced to live with other JWs (who treat her like dirt or worse). And then she can tell me how proud she is that she put 28 hours in service last month. How on earth can you go with a straight face and peddle literature that you know is lies and try to bring people into an org you know is WRONG? I don't get it.....

NEED HELP: What's wrong with CURRENT Borg policy on molestation?
by Open mind inok, first off, please don't shoot the messenger here.
the dateline show on jws hiding pedophiles was one of several "defining moments" in my process of questioning "the truth".
it disgusted me.

Well, when I lived in some bad apartments, I got fliers in my mailbox with address and pictures of registered sex offenders in my complex. (Talk about scary - I got three in one day). Having gone to two KHs with sex offenders, why not post their information on the bulletin board? I mean, I am going to get their picture in my mailbox, or I am going to see it at the post office (the case with one "brother" I was forced to go in field service with). What would be wrong with posting this at the KH too?

My first missed one as well, in 30+ years. It did not feel weird in the least. Last year I went with the appropriate shame - look down, hang head, be appropriately humble. I was on-call for work at the time and had to get up a couple time with my pager (on vibrate) - got all kinds of evil looks. You'd think they would be happy I was there!!! After all - between working 60-80 hours a week...... I have actually hated Memorial for years now - ever since my mom announced her anointing - I was young enough to still need her as a child and old enough to understand that now God was taking her away from me to heaven, where I was not allowed to go - Paradise would be without her. And the JWs told me my dad was going to die at the big A, so I was left with ..... nobody. As a child, that is devastating to think of (even though they are both still alive and well and I am all grown up). And then I got married and my husband mentions that he thinks he is anointed - now God has taken away the rest of my family. I began hating God. So good to know that that was all bullshit..... or worse. I still hate the God that would do such things, but I know that He is not the true God.
