Well, I'm not sure what it is you're even looking for, specifically. Be aware that "information on contradicting the religion" is a vast thing -- there is a lot of it. As I suggested above, go to http://www.jwfacts.com. There you will see links about various topics, some or many of which might grab your attention and apply to your situation. The information is well-organized and easy to follow. No one can just give you a list of "things that contradict the religion," it's going to take some research on your part. That site is a very good place for you to start IMO.
And listen to the advice others have already mentioned here. Stay focused on your education and your future, and don't go into a JW study/conversation/whatever until your eyes are wide open about what it's really all about. (In fact, my better advice is don't go into a JW study/conversation/whatever at all, but if you must, educate yourself first.)
Good luck :-)

Well, you are currently on a very good site that's full of info. Read as many of the posts here as you can, check the Best Of section, etc.
Another site that gives a very good analysis of many JW issues is http://www.jwfacts.com. It covers all kinds of topics, is presented in a simple and straightforward way, and has been invaluable to me in my own research. If you're looking for "talking points" that detail the facts behind the deceptions, that's a great place to start. -

by jehovahsheep inhow do you think the end times are going to play out on the world stage?

I don't believe in a preordained "end times," and devoting your "now times" to worrying about it is a waste of the gift of life.
(And David Icke is a nutcase btw.) -

Well, the answer will depend on WHY she isn't speaking to you. I assume there is a reason :-)

Wash your mouth out with soap
by keyser soze indid anyone ever have this done to them, literally?
i thought it was only a figure of speech, until my mother did it to me for real.
i think i was about 10 at the most, and i said the word "piss", which to my mother was the equvalent of the f-word.

Once, but not by my own parents. The woman who did it was the mother of one of my neighborhood friends. I was probably 8 or 9 years old, and I don't even remember what bad word I said. It tasted horrible and made me sick, but what I remember most about it was feeling assaulted and humiliated (she did it in front of a bunch of other kids). Boy were my parents PISSED when I went home crying and told them what happened. I don't know what my mom said to that lady, but she never laid a hand on me again.
I think it's a mean and vile way to "discipline" a child. -

This thread caught my eye, because I am currently experiencing the exact same thing. I've never been a JW, but in my research efforts and in an attempt to get a handle on what I'm up against here, I've acquired a big pile of WTS literature, mostly books. But I CANNOT get through it, I have tried and tried but it just doesn't register. It's like my brain just rejects it or something. It's actually a really weird phenomenon that I don't recall ever experiencing before.

Hi HAL, it's bizarre isn't it? Looking at it from the outside, never having seen such a thing before, well I was just shocked and appalled (that's a feeling I experience a lot from JW-land LOL). I could barely sit through this on YouTube doing other things, I'd last about 30 seconds at an actual convention.

I can't believe I actually watched all 6 scenes of this.
As a UBM-never-been-JW, I have never attended a convention before and have never seen a "drama" before. Until now. THIS is the highlight, the exciting part, the thing everyone looks forward to and wakes up for at the conventions? I'm not sure what I was expecting, but wow this was just crap. I can't even imagine what the rest of the convention must be like, if this is the "good" part. I don't know why I'm surprised, but I am.
(No additional comment on the nuttiness and thinly veiled "messages," I think all of that is abundantly self-evident) -

I don't watch a lot of tv either, but I am full on board the "David Caruso is an ass" bandwagon. I cannot stand the man even in the smallest doses. Though he did do one film where I didn't mind him and his presence actually worked: "Session 9." (Caveat: You'd have to be into freaky scariness to enjoy this film in the first place.)
As to the original question, eh no strong opinions really. Both options are fully acceptable and enjoyable to me for every question, except for Coke or Pepsi. COKE ONLY. -

Hi, asimpleservant. Kudos to you for getting out at such a young age, and not just getting out but hitting the ground running and really making something of yourself. That takes courage and determination, particularly coming from such an isolated background. However, I must chime in here too and echo what some others have said.
It sounds like your personality was a good mesh with the "presentation" aspect of what JWs are forced to learn and adopt, and that you were able to turn that into a positive in your circumstances. But there are A LOT of people whose personalities are very different, and for whom every doorstep encounter or public talk or whatever was so painful and so unnatural, it was like dying a little death every single time. Add to that being "trained" from babyhood in concepts of personal worthlessness, impending doom, the "evil" of natural pursuits, the selfishness and futility of personal development and growth -- all of this with a cast of crazies on the scene at all times, well into adulthood, reinforcing this crap with an iron fist at every turn, and it's not hard to see how some might have trouble establishing their footing once out. Heck, just GETTING out is a Herculean feat in itself under those conditions.
Someone above mentioned that leaving later in life puts the person at the disadvantage of "starting" pretty much everything at a much later stage than "normal." I think it's even harsher than that, because it's not just about starting later; it's also about having to figure out how to undo a lifelong mindf**k and learning to survive and thrive in an alien environment with precious few tools to handle or even understand it. That's no easy task for anyone, and some fare better than others or find their stride more quickly.
I'm sure you didn't mean any offense, and I don't think anyone here means to be hurtful in presenting alternate viewpoints. It's just something to be aware of, that everyone's circumstances are different and what has worked for some does not necessarily work for others.
Welcome to the board, I hope you'll share more of your story and your experiences here.
