Virgin Birth Claim Disproves Biblical Inspiration
by AlanF inmany bible believers claim that the old testament contains over 300 so-called messianic prophecies.
however, a careful look at such claims shows that at least 80% of these have absolutely no connection with jesus, or with events beyond what the ancient writer was concerned with.. take, for example, the famous example of the supposed virgin birth of jesus.
this is based on the text of matthew 1:18-23 (nasb):18 now the birth of jesus christ was as follows: when his mother mary had been betrothed to joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child by the holy spirit.

We're Coming After You, Watchtower
by Farkel infor decades the watchtower corruption and lying corporation (hereinafter
referred to as "the cult(tm)" has successfully prevailed in court over their destruction of lives and families due to their disgusting and perverted disfellowshipping policies.
what they've done in effect is to argue that their first amendment rights must prevail, so they can then turn around and use that right to deprive all of their members of that very same right and liberty that comes with that right.

You might want to consider changing your viewpoint a bit, and yet you'll still be able to accomplish that feat.
Rather than worrying about how to destroy the Watchtower, concentrate on how to reach honest JWs and/or those JWs who are beginning to see cracks in their religion.
Good idea, Farkel. Another angle would be to educate the public about the JW's. The public is open minded and willing to listen to flaws within the JW religion without automatically accusing critics of lying. We spent a lot of time printing up flyers and distributing them to the public informing them of the JW's. We even conducting a seminar in one community about JW's and other mind controling groups and gave them questions to ask. Not long after, the JW's did come by to minister in their neighborhood and many of the people brought up big issues with them. It didn't take long before the JW's figured out this community was on to them and they left.

That is really very sad. I hope she wins.
A couple of months ago, cult counselor Steve Hassan took an interest in this case and I believe has been in touch with this woman. A few years ago he testifed as an expert witness in a similar case (Kendall v. Kendall) involving another religion/cult. The father was a member of the Int'l Church of Christ and was telling their 2 children the mother was going to hell. The case went up to the Massachusetts Supreme Court and the decision went in favor of protecting the children from psychological harm. The judge ruled the father's freedom of religion did not give him the freedom to inflict psychological harm on his children. The wife won custody and he wasn't allowed to prosletyze to them or bring them to any cult activities.
Maybe the court system is finally waking up to these issues.

Turning Over A Rock
by Francois inregarding the thread below which deals with the court allowing the two sisters to continue with their suit against the wtbts; and all the other threads dealing with the failure of "god's organization" to provide the minimum care and concern for its most helpless members; and all the other threads dealing with false prophecy, doctrinal flip-flops & theological u-turns, conflicting teachings and all the cognitive dissonance generated by this phoney-baloney cult does it strike you that this is exactly like turning over a rock to reveal a nest of maggots!.
for a hundred years and more, the wtbts did what it did to its followers in secret, in the dark, in little hidden meeting rooms, where elders asked sisters what kind of underwear they were wearing just before brother so-and-so slid them off her hips, salacious bastards all.
but, as we have it from the scriptures, sinners may do what they do in the dark, but god will reveal all.

Francois,
Your post made me think about the huge effect the internet has had on the Watchtower. Just look back on all of the issues this db and others have brought to light.

JW Discussion Boards
by teejay incan someone point me in the direction of a couple (or five) jw discussion boards?
you know where real jws post their mind-numbing thoughts about how terrible the world (and "worldly" people) are and how great it will be when armageddon comes to destroy the wicked?
i'd like for some of my workmates to see what their loving jw neighbors really think about them.

I just found several JW discussion boards on America Online groups. Most of them are for devout JW's but some are open to the public.

Bluesbrother,
I also tried getting a respone from Reg Tech. I faxed a letter directly to the president on his fax machine and heard nothing.
