  i attended the meeting tonight.

  i've been able to get out of most of the meetings this year, as i've been busy at work, and studying for work exams.

  i went tonight, because i told my brother i'd go last week, since he was giving his first no.

  I attended the meeting tonight. I've been able to get out of most of the meetings this year, as I've been busy at work, and studying for work exams. I went tonight, because I told my brother I'd go last week, since he was giving his first No. 1 talk as an MS, which is apparently very special. After the meeting, nobody came to speak to me, so whilst I was waiting for my parents to be done socialising so I could go home, I popped into the library at the back of the hall, to see if they had any old Society books.
  
  I was amazed at what I found! Loads of old books, most of which I'd never heard of, most probably written by Rutherford? Must have been close to 100. What stood out to me most though, was an original set of all seven series of 'Studies in the scriptures' Had a flick through the first one, (Divine plan of the ages) and on the inside cover, I noticed there was a pullout with a diagram of the pyramid! Thought that was really funny.
  
  There was also many other bible translations, and some commentaries and books about the bible, which appeared to be written by 'worldly' sources, which surprised me even more.
  
  Didn't get much time to look around, but I have a key to the hall back from the days when I worked on the magazine counter, which for some reason, they never asked back from me, so I'm going to go in at some point when I've got a bit more time, and have a proper look around, though there's so much stuff I could spend days in there.
  
  Do all Kingdom hall libraries have these books? I suggest anyone who still goes to meetings should look in their KH library, it's really fascinating stuff!

  i had my circuit assembly last weekend.

  it was absolutely mind numbing, but i took extensive notes, and i thought i'd share the key points with everyone here for your reading pleasure.. .

  i feel i'd made a lot of progress since my convention in june.

  Jehovah probably should have given it to the angels, somehow, I think they'd be a bit more effective.
  
  I can't recall a scripture being used Lilly, he'd have to have taken it out of context if he did!

  The counterfeit money illustration

  does anyone remember this illustration being used at the hall as a means to keep the rank and file from look at any information that wasn't from the watchtower?

  they would say that people are trained to spot counterfeit money by looking a the real thing.

  in other words there was no need to look at anything else as you had the real thing, "the truth" coming from the watchtower.

  I remember it. Of course, it was flawed.
  
  Ok, so the best way to spot counterfeit money is to be given real money and to study that, but what if you were given a counterfeit originally and told, and then convinced it was real, then you'd reject real money when you came to examine it!

  when a jw says they read the whole bible, or they try to in a year do they really mean they read the 'study in scriptures' book?

  Ask any JW, 'do you read the bible daily?' and most will say 'I read the day text every day' go on, try it.
  
  The Society say they want you to read the bible daily, but I'm not sure they really do, since they don't like independant study. I think they provide the day's text to give the Witnesses an excuse not to read the bible, and instead keep them focused on Watchtower articles.

  foul or stale from standing: stagnant ponds.showing little or no sign of activity or advancement; not developing or progressing; inactive: a stagnant economy the sunday talks are copy and paste .the watchtower study is the same.ask the preprinted questions and answer.the ministry school is reading the same parts of the bible.the service program has the same dull presentations.the book study has some books being read 3 - 4 times.. is the watchtower society happy with being stagnant and just going thru the motions?

  The rank & file aren't exactly zealous at the moment though, which I think is linked to how stagnant and repetitive everything is.
  
  I think the WT would love to do something different that would inspire them to be like the pre-75 Dubs, but they don't know what to do other than 'tract campaigns' which don't work very well.

  how in the world is a 14 year old ready to commit themselves to anything life altering?.

  I knew a raised-in JW girl who held it off till 23! Everyone kept saying 'Why did she wait so long?' I pointed out that she still waited 7 years less than Jesus.
