  Watchtower Study for 3-21-2004

  if you still go to meetings, has anyone read the watchtower for this sunday's study?

  its really really messed up, and they're still trying to justify 1914 and 607 and stuff.

  i was reading that sunday before the study w/ the elder, and so i just told him that i didn't think jerusalem fell in 607. showed him a few things, then now both of us are researching it.. personal opinion of this weeks' watchtower is that its more of a crock of shit than it has been for awhile.

  The calculation of the calendrical year 607 stands in mark contrast to the convolutions and deception promoted in the Jonsson hypothesis and by theories of higher critics.who can only suggest the useless dates of 586 or 587.

  Scholar - perhaps you should round out your education a bit further and include archeology, anthropology, and other science related classes. Learning the concepts of radionuclide dating as well as other dating techniques may help you to understand the findings upon which the dates of 586/587 are based.

  Never accept a conclusion as fact if the assumptions upon which it is based can not be verified. 607 can not be verified - but the dates of 586/587 can be.

  God did not intend for his true followers to ignore facts - he intends for us to use our minds, to study, explore, and open our minds to possibilities beyond our own understanding.

  The bottom line - it really doesn't matter whether you believe 607 or 586/587. That is not what will gain your salvation. Salvation comes through Jesus - period. "I am the way, the truth, and the life. Noone comes to the father except through me." Too many people get side tracked in arguing doctrine and loose track of the real message - Jesus. The one thing that CAN keep you from gaining salvation is by trying to get it through an organization and not asking for it from Christ.

  what would you do in a situation like this?.

  you're in a hurry, so want to just grab something quick for lunch in a nearby fast food restaurant and then eat back at your desk while you work.

  there was a woman standing in front of the condiments area.

  Don't worry Tammy - she made an a$$ of herself in public without you lifting a finger. I bet the customers standing around are all wondering if she forgot to take her meds in the morning. They're probably all laughing about her right now.

  If that ever happened to me I'd look at them - say "I have no idea who you are" and walk off.

  Are you a complete person?

  people living alone, usually have to do everything in the house, like cooking, washing, and all kinds of odd jobs here and there.

  usually men have their specialties like plumming and electricity, and women are better in cooking and sewing.

  but living alone, you have to do all of the above.

  I lived alone from age 18 until I married hubby @ 29. I was a single parent of a son from age 20-29. What I learned is that I'm not very good with carpentry, plumbing, electical, or cars - so I hired that work out. However - I am a very good cook, can throw a pretty good baseball pitch (practicing w/the son), know most all the rules of football, soccer, and basketball (again, for benefit of the son), and can clean the house, do laundry, and talk on the phone while preparing dinner and helping with homework (super multi-tasker).

  How does it keep going?

  ok, we know that field service, for the most part is unproductive.

  that is, very few newly baptised jw's are from converts.

  that means that most dubs make babies, indoctrinate them, and they become dubs.

  I only had my son when I left - thank goodness he is not interested in being a JW. Had my daughter after I left - so I now have a 100% freedom ratio

  I am assuming by the term "religion" you really mean "denomination" - is that correct? If so, then I would have to say there is no TRUE religion/denomination because they are all man-made.

  Jesus is above all of that - he doesn't exist in a religious denomination.

  Have you been to Church since leaving JW for someone eles?

  this is just a question i am wondering about , since my daughter age 10, has asked me to take her to church.

  we have been out of the jw's for 2 yrs and she hated the meetings , we spent most of the time , outside in the car, in the bathroom or home the last years we were jw's.

  she has alot of little friends who go to a little group on tuesdays to learn about jesus and do things likes arts and crafts.. well, the ladies at the first baptist church invited her to go to sunday school for her age group.

  Hi LyinEyes:

  I have been to church since leaving the JW's - in fact, I liked it so much that I now go almost every Sunday. Go check it out and see what you think - you could also talk with the Sunday school teacher in advance and ask her what activities they do in sunday school. My daugther is now 6 and loves church - she's been going since she was 3. I let her make her own decision each week if she wants to go with me or stay home with dad and watch cartoons - believe it or not, most weekends she wants to go to sunday school.

  I would check out a couple of churches - find one that you might feel comfortable with. Different churches have different ways of worshiping, some are more sermon based, some more music - I'm sure you'll find one you feel comfortable about.
