They Tell The Elders One Thing And The Others Something Else!
by minimus inthe organization is so deceitful that they will tell the watchtower readers that the elders should deal mercifully with wrongdoers but in private letters or correspondence thru the circuit overseers, they will tell the elders not to allow "leaven" within their midst.
they say it's better to disfellowship and see whether someone's truly repentant afterwards rather than taking a chance to contaminate the congregation.......another example of their being two-faced is that they will tell the brotherhood not to buy homes, cars, vacations, etc.
unnecessarily as it could signal materialism, yet the watchtower society spends more money on real estate than we could ever possibly imagine but it's ok for them..........can you think of other things that show that the organization is hypocritical??

If it was legal, would you have more then one spouse?
by free2beme inoften what we accept in society, is based on how and where we were raised.
for example, in some countries it is okay to have more then one spouse and arranged marriages are how you marry.
often we take these examples, and others that happen elsewhere, and label them as just wrong.

Not one man and seven women.. ;-) but lets make it 8. 4 guys and 4 gals.. Like the cast of friends but they all have sex together to.

I have always thought it would interesting if it were more radicaly different. More like nests. 6-7 people live together in a house and share responsiblities, fun, and love.... More like your team in life than just your spouse..

Last thing i read said that voting was a CM, but that you would be accountable for the mistakes and actions of the person you voted for. I don't think they'll D'f for it.

Sex is one of the few things that makes me feel connected to the phyiscal world. I couldn't imagine living forever without it. I wonder what my jw spouse feels about this?

How Many Of You?
by justsomedude inhow many of you, when you were an active and zealous jw (assuming you were), were motivated by the paradise idea?
i was basically born in, so i wasn't drawn to the religion, it just was.. the whole idea of the paradise never really exicted me though.
i followed the religion and did what i did because i just believed it was the right thing to do and not so i could obtain the carrot on the end of the string.. how many of you felt the same way?

I liked the idea of being immortal (sort of) and finishing some projects. Building the tower of orthanc maybe. I think it's those ideas that keep me so interested in trans-humanism. (expansion of human self through technology) And i am thinking strongly of having myself frozen at death. Not that i have any great thing to contribute to the future, i am just really interested in seeing how things turn out.

Curious as to what a wedding at the KH is like...
by Riverwatcher ini don't know why this has popped into my head.
just wondering about j/w weddings.. is there music?
are there any traditions used in the ceremony?

I am probably revealing to much.. But when i was getting married i told the brother that A. I didn't want Adam and Eve mentioned at all, i figured (at the time) they had screwed it up for everyone and didn't really deserve to be in my talk. B. I didn't want to say, "God's marital arrangement." I thought it sounded stupid. I told him i would say God's arrangement for marriage. But we ended up in a civil ceremony anyway. (other things happened that would very much give me away if mentioned.)
I hated KH weddings for one reason only.. "The Shulimite Maiden" They would play it as the procession song every time. Made me sick. Esp since i was drinking with that girl a few months before and and she was a slut who was feeling everybody up like a cat in heat. I didn't want to hear a song that was supposed to reflect her "chasteness"...
