From Lilly's website:
In 2008, we donated over $280 million in products to patients and agencies throughout the world.
Last year Americans spent $291 BILLION on prescription drugs.

Last year Eli Lilly had an operating budget of $20 billion dollars:

Giving away $280 million dollars worth of free prescription medicine WORLDWIDE is indeed a noble thing to do. However, it's a drop in the bucket compared to the real problems that everyday middle class Americans face in filling their healthcare needs. You want to act like corporate charity is going to solve these problems, yet the raw data does not support your claim. But hey, what do I know right?

Talk about that which you know jeep, which admittedly is not much.
Again with the insults, I should know better than to expect rational conversation.

It took eight years to create the mess we're in now, I would argue that we give it time.

Emotion should never be the primary motive for policy decision making
JD, at some point in your life, you or someone you love is going to get caught up in the great American health care meat grinder. You'll think everything is fine because you have health insurance, you're not like all those dead beats out there.....then the insurance will pay out, after they deny half your claims, and you'll still be left with a bill in the tens of thousands......come talk to us then. Come talk to us AFTER they repo your house, your car, all your toys, liquidate your hard earned retirement and savings accounts, and send dead beat process servers to bang on your front door at ten o'clock at night.
Come talk to us AFTER you've filed your first bankruptcy and lost EVERYTHING all because you needed treatment for cancer, or a heart transplant. Let us know how charitable your precious health care corporations were after all of that.

As a side point, most major drug companies have free or reduced cost charity medicine for poor people with no insurance. A quick internet search will turn such programs up. Lilly is a major company of which I have personal knowledge of such a program.
And yet we still have millions of Americans forced to choose between buying meds every month and buying food. JD are you really that naive? Corporate charity? Are you kidding me?

Money is your only fear when having a health checkup?
And they say I'm sarcastic. Money should be on your mind when you consider seeking health care. Health care is SO expensive that even WITH health insurance you still risk bankruptcy if you need ANY kind of serious medical care.
