  Youths who gave up amazing lives

  when i was growing up i remember many young people interviewed on the platform at assemblies.

  the ones who really stood out are the talented ones who gave up amazing lives to pioneer.. i remember specifically when i was a boy in the 70s and 80s some who were very good at sport or something.

  their teachers begged them to get professional training use their talents to the full.

  on a scale of 1 to 100, i would put the lds in the high 90s, and the witnesses at about minus 10.. these days (well, around here at least) one encounters the mormon missionaries all over the place.

  if they are not knocking at your door, they are approaching you out in the street.

  of late, this has been happening all the bloody time!.

  The Mormons seem to have disappeared from around here too, apart from seeing 2 on bikes about 4 months, there's been no sign of them for years.

  i overheard a discussion between two jws, they said that when someone is disfellowshipped, they are asked to hand their blood card back to the elders.

  i had never heard of this before, is this correct?.

  Yes, I remember doing that way.

  Thanks for everyone's input on this subject. If I hear this subject mentioned again in conversation, I might ask how they know that removed ones need to return there card.

  Big Local Case, Sexual Abuse by former Elder, Police Raided the Kingdom Hall ! Kent, U.K !

  the police have started an investigation where a woman has courageously come forward about her sexual abuse by a former elder, who had a record of doing such things with the local congregation, and i think it was all covered up.

  they have charged him, he is claiming he is not mentally fit to appear in court, i hope that lie does not hold up !.

  this case was unknown to the local elders, but hopefully will now give the strength for other women, who were all very young and very vulnerable at the time , to come forward as well.

  50 year anniversary

  remember 1975?

  maybe when you were a kid - like i was?

  i will celebrate 01.10.2025 the 50th anniversary of the "end of 6000 years of human history and the immediate end of the world".

  A few years ago we had an elder who was doing a kh talk mention how he felt when he lived through the 1975 year, his reasoning was that this date was a misunderstanding by the organization at that time, and how he then had to make the call, was that disappointment going to affect his worship to Jehovah? He choise to continue worshipping Jehovah. and then reflected back on how he made the best choice.

  I clearly remember a convention drama about 20 years ago named "The life of Timothy", in it we were told that Paul talked Timothy out of getting a higher education in Athens or Rome.

  ok i just want to officially set the record straight about the report of csa in new zealand.

  i have a pimo relative who lives in nz.

  as far as public awareness, with regard to the jws, it was basically a big nothing burger.

  Actually, there was a news item on TVNZ One, 6pm national news that only talked about JWs, and how they tried to get out of being involved in this CSA report. This was broadcast the day before the report was released.
