initial ancient fulfillment
Wasn't that all those ancient Egyptian, Greek, & Roman rulers? Seleucus, Ptolemy, Cleopatra, Augustus, etc.
That's like 2 whole chapters in the 1999 "Pay Attention to Daniel's Prophecy" book.

Good question.
Obviously they think this is one of those "special instances", but they don't explain why.
One can speculate of course. The whole "KOTN / KOTS" hoo-ha supposedly leads right up to the "cry of peace and security" which in theory starts the "great tribulation".
Take away the KOTN / KOTS folderol and that "cry" might be 6 months or 6 years or 6 decades away. But if you say "Ooooh, looky here, we've got a King of the North again" then it seems the GT could be "imminent".

Do You Believe Polls Saying Trump Will Lose To Biden?
by minimus ina new fox poll says biden is up by 12 percentage points.
of course, most other polls say trump will be trounced this time around.. do you think the polls might be right this time?

For the record, I'm not "supporting" any candidate on this thread, just reporting the polling results. I'll save my opinions for elsewhere.
As noted, (1) the polls are currently brutal for Trump, (2) they've been brutal for the past several months, and (3) Trump is doing nothing (that I can see) to win over the 6-10% of voters (per state) he's lost since 2016.

Those final poll results were just about spot-on...for the popular vote. Clinton won by about 2% in 2016.
Of course, at the risk of repeating myself for the 100th time, elections are not decided by the popular vote totals, rather by the Electoral College.
The latest polls show Trump getting trounced not only by the popular vote, but in every state Trump won by less than 4%.
Michigan: 2016 Trump + 0.3% vs. July 2020 polling Trump -9.4 % Net loss: 9.7%
Wisconsin: 2016 Trump + 1.0% vs. July 2020 polling Trump - 7.8% Net loss 8.8%
Pennsylvania: 2016 Trump + 1.2% vs. July 2020 polling Trump - 7.3% Net loss 8.5%
Florida: 2016 Trump + 1.2% vs. July 2020 polling Trump - 6.0% Net loss 7.2%
North Carolina: 2016 Trump + 3.8% vs. July 2020 polling Trump - 3.2% Net loss 7.0%
Arizona: 2016 Trump + 3.9% vs. July 2020 polling Trump -2.2% Net loss 6.1%
Brutal.
If Trump loses 3 or more of those states, game over.
Not to mention, as noted earlier, Georgia, iowa, even fer the luv of gawd Texas appear now to be in play. Biden is actually running campaign ads in Texas where Trump won by 9% in 2016.
As I've added with every such post: It's early, 3.5 months is an eternity in campaigns, anything can happen.....but Trump appears to be doing his level best to alienate everybody not already committed to voting for him. It's hard to imagine the numbers above getting better for him.
And, as noted earlier, he will be dragging the Senate & House down with him.
At what point does McConnell have "the talk" with him?

Nevada: Biden +8.3
New Hampshire: Biden +8.0

The Watchtower—Study Edition | August 2020
by RULES & REGULATIONS inthe watchtower—study edition | august 2020 .
study article 33. the resurrection reveals god’s love, wisdom, and patience.
8 for a number of reasons, we can assume that those greeting resurrected individuals will be able to recognize their loved ones.

Does anybody remember the movie from a few years back, "The Prestige"?
Highlights a particularly unsettling consequence of the "just re-create the body" idea that is, of course, much different than a "resurrection".

I was disappointed in the demotion of Queen Zenobia (footnote, paragraph 5). In the original printing of the "Daniel's Prophecy" book, she was a "King(?) of the South". Now she's nothing.
B*astards. She was one of the few interesting characters in that book, and now she's just another miscellaneous Syrian empress, at least in WT-world.

Thanks for the link, unfortunately it is firewalled for me.
It would be interesting to know the methodology he uses. Of course the grand caveat in all such models, "correlation does not imply causation". It's fairly easy to "retcon" a model to fit past circumstances and say "this will predict the future", but that is not always the case.
That, and circumstances now are much different than 4 months ago, and indeed much different than in any other past presidential election. There are simultaneous unprecedented (or at least exceedingly rare) crises shaping public opinion. The candidates' positions and responses to those crises will drive the voting results far more than any of the "traditional" motivations in 2020. So I wonder if his modeling takes these highly unusual circumstances into account.

Congregation Judicial Hearing Centres (Kangaroo Courts)
by Slidin Fast inso, now it's official.
the only use for kingdom halls in england is for judicial committee hearings.
meetings?
-
sir82
In the US, Kingdom Halls can't even be used for judicial meetings. All DF issues are "held in abeyance" until further notice.
Of course JWs continue to commit "grave sins" at the same rate as before, so there is a building backlog of cases that are kind of in limbo. There is a growing number of JWs who are still technically "in good standing" but have a looming judicial committee meeting coming in 3? 6? 9? 12? more? months.
