I feel like that right now. I don't know what I want/need and I'm all weepy and shit. Pretty sure that's its hormonal today...the crying usually tips me off cuz that's not something I do.

GUESS WHAT HAPPENED TO ME TODAY!
by Butters ini cannot believe what i saw happen today at the store.. i was at wal-mart browsing various electronics and digital cameras and such, when i heard behind me, "brother hardy, how are you!"...
first thing i thought was oh shit, they found me, and forgot my real name, or have me mixed up with someone else.. turns out, this disfellowshiped witness was there at the store and saw one of his congregation members there.
now i personally have never been part of the shunning process myself, but here i am, an ex-jw watching from the other aisle, a bunch of shit that i never thought i would see the lights of day on.... the brother, this "hardy" i guess, looked up at the man with a smile, but then when he realized who it was, he immediately frowned and started pushing his shopping cart away looking straight ahead and not even acknowledging the man... (here's where i jump in..).

True enough, LT. I do find myself focusing on certain aspects of a post at times...especially if something is said that hits a nerve. Then its like a conversation that starts out being about one thing and veers off into another topic. Women do this a lot...or at least I do. Trying to learn to stay on topic more.

Is it everyone else's fault?
by free2beme ini feel that we live in a blame free world.
were all perfect, we make no mistakes and everything we do it 100% right.
i know this, because i work in customer service and get calls all day long from these perfect people.

I'm with Mary. Almost everything is my fault. I've had to learn NOT to do this because some people will not only let you take all the blame, they will label you as a sucker and take advantage. These days I try to think it through more.
I agree that the WTS promotes and reinforces this trait. If something they said turns out to be false or bad advice or whatever, its all the fault of the R & F. I got sucked right into that too. I always felt that when things didn't work out or if I was confused about something they said, that it must be my fault for not reading it right or studying enough or some other pile of garbage reasoning. I would have left a lot sooner if I'd had more faith in myself.

WHAT WOULD YOU THINK IF SOMEONE POST.......?

My husband cheated on me for years (I didn't know about it as it was happening, I discovered it later. Ah, it was so good to find out we never really had a marriage. ). When you love somebody and are deeply committed to them and your marriage, its one of the most horrible feelings in the world to find out that they don't feel the same way. The idea that people would celebrate (with dope or anything else) such a betrayal is painful to contemplate. I know that's not what the thread was about but those of us who have been cheated on are, perhaps, overly sensative in this regard.
Its been almost 20 years since my divorce, so I have enough distance not to become immediately outraged any more, still, I found that aspect of butter's account somewhat distasteful. Like why mention adultry at all? It seemed to be making light of it even if that was not intended.
(((juni)))
LOL @ Ken...yeah, men are horrible!! (women, of course, can do no wrong).

Quite a few years ago I remember being told not to say "I'm a Jehovah's Witness" right off the bat because people have preconceived notions about dubs and might cut you off before you got a chance to get to talk to them. I always thought that was deceptive and was embarrassed when, after skirting around the JW question, it became obvious that I was indeed a JW out in the magazine peddling work.
Actually, its quite a good glimpse at how the WTS is: deceptive, backhanded, and two-faced. They can say its all in a good cause because they get people to take the literature and talk to them who might not, but it seems pretty sleazy to me.
I agree with you that I have better things to do with my time than to converse with them. Maybe someday my attitude on that will change but for now, that's how it is.

With rules like that I'm surprised there aren't more instances of violence in Bethel.
No kidding! I wanted to slug him (whoever this is) just reading all of his little rules.
If it's that pedo guy, too bad one of his previous roommates didn't take your suggestion, FF.

Alcoholism and the Loss of a good friend
by ScoobySnax inmy friend and work colleague was kelvin.
often he would be the one to do the "egg and bacon" run at 9:30am after we'd been at work for a couple of hours on the ward.
down to the hospital cantain he'd go to get us all lots of cholesterol laiden food, egg, bacon, mushrooms, fried bread waffles etc a proper english breakfast.

Sorry about the loss of your friend, Scooby. Alcoholism is a horrible thing. You wish you could force them to get sober but you know that's not possible...they have to want it for themselves, to find a reason to live. Some, like Kelvin, never do.

I don't answer the door if I can help it. I sometimes think about it but, really, because they'd have to stand on the stairs, I'd feel almost obligated to let them in...which I don't want to do. I also don't really want to debate with them. I belonged to their club, I remember their schtick quite well and know the mindset they are operating under. I get this sinking feeling of utter pointlessness when I think about pointing out the glaringly obvious (to me) bulls#*t that is their religion.
When they catch me at work, I try to shut them down because, frankly, I don't want to get into any long, drawn out religious discussions when I'm supposed to be working. I'm also more than a little embarassed that I was once a JW and don't want people to know that I was such a fool.
The couple of times that one has phoned or managed to catch me in my driveway before I could back out, I have talked to them. I answer their questions as honestly as I can but I truly don't think they hear a word I say since its not "Ooo, when can we start up a Bible study, eh? I'm ready to return to the discipline and mental regulating of Jehovah now."

New Campaign: "The End of False Religion Is Near" and the Tribulation
by Mikeus inyesterday my wife (an inactive-but-not-yet-df'd jw) and i went over to visit her parent's house (still very active jws), and my mother-in-law handed my wife a flyer entitled 'the end of false religion is near' with a nice evil-destroying lightning bolt pictured on the front.
she whispered to my wife that this was a new campaign and was not supposed to be handed out until next month, but was "very excited, because this is supposed to bring about the tribulation".. they may be right.
inside the two pages they call catholics condoning child molesting (ironic), non-jws blood thirsty war mongers, and how people involved in politics are under mind control (again, ironic), among other things.

For years and years, the WTS literature was filled with pictures of Catholic clergy in the most unflattering ways, even calling them names because they had "relations with the Disgusting Thing"---the United Nations....while secretly doing the very same things that they condemned the "other religions" for doing.
But, but, but....Jehoober's Witlesses have the TRUTH, Sunspot. They're different because God has chosen THEM as his only true people, so when they do these things, its just human error (they aren't perfect yet, you know), individual screwing up apart from the org, a faulty connection in the divine communication system, or something else rendering it all completely explainable and totally justified.
It doesn't matter that they signed up with the UN as a NGO, PDQ, LMNOP or whatever the hell they were...that wasn't really fornicating with the image of the beast, it was undercover work, theocraptic warfare for Jah. It was all about getting a library card so they could use the UN library...yes, yes, I know they could have used the library anyway but they looked more official and important with their little badges/ ID cards and decoder rings. Didn't they get to sit in on cool meetings too, almost like they were important or something? Its such a shame that they were exposed so that their covert operations had to cease. *tsk*
It also doesn't matter that the WTS does its utmost to cover up pedophila in the congregations. I mean, really, they wouldn't want to condemn men who are or could be all-important soldiers for Jehover (elders, pioneers, male) just because they sinned a little. Perverts have needs too, you know. Forgiveness is so important for Christians, don't you think?
The GB doesn't let it bother them that thousands of innocent, helpless children have been hurt in the most heinous ways...after all, won't our loving Father eventually erase their memories and all will be happy and joyful forever and ever in a paradise on earth? Come on, these kids and their families will only suffer temporary pain and anquish. Isn't it of more immediate importance to try to hush things up so that the WTS looks as good as possible to the world? ...wait, no, no, don't think of whitewashed graves...NO! That doesn't apply to Jehovah's people...remember, they have the TRUTH...that condemnation applies only to other religions, those false ones...over there.
This is why these things are kept from the rank and file...they just don't understand the role theocratic hypocrasy and deceit play in Jehovah's organization. *tsk*
---------
It would be kind of fun to take this explosive tract, fold it into a paper airplane while the dubs are walking away and launch it at the back of (one of) their heads. I'm sure it would be a most satisfying exercise for all involved. I'd laugh and they'd feel persecuted. (OMG! The Great Tribulation is starting already, Brothers! I think I wet my pants! Praise Jah!)
