but the governing body can make an even stronger case than that: not only will jesus cry and clice you up if you celebrate christmas, you will also have a really bad time.

My reply: You inserted the word pagan to birthday celebration, with no basis- just like much of what you say. Jesus knew his cousin's murder was related to a b-day...yet made no statement about b-days either way. The last two sentences of what you say are empty and meaningless assertions.

i ask because i threw down the challenge on another thread that if any agreed with debator/reniaa's apologetics in any area would they please post so that we can see where jw's are correct in their teachings.. nobody supported deb/ren's points.. i do not ask for a list of "correct" jw teachings, just where is deb/ren's correct presentation of wt/jw beliefs that stand scrutiny and are truth.. if there are none then we do not need to engage in any kind of talk with deb/ren..

jehovah's witnesses derived their policy of excommunication from 1 corinthians 5:9-13, a small fraction of religious text compared to the overall compendium of religious books that the world's religions revolve around.
in my letter i wrote you to quit mixing in company with fornicators, not [meaning] entirely with the fornicators of this world or the greedy persons and extortioners or idolaters.
otherwise, you would actually have to get out of the world.
It really won't effect you in the sense of shunning. You will be considered an unbelieving mate- if they feel you can be converted, they will try..otherwise you will be left alone. Your wife will be forced to choose between loyalty to the or gand you though as far as holidays, blood transfusion, missing meetings, etc. She will likely give up her nonJW friends. If she breaks JW rules she would be subject to the hatred I described.
In a JWs eyes you are a worldy person who God will destroy if you do not join them/

WC, it is all about starting when they are kids and separating them from classmates so they won't fit in...so they will have no support system outside of other witnesses and will be less likely to leave- or come back if they do.
Wedding anniversaries are between the couple, and if friends are included they are likely other JWs.

Whatever I'm being shown here in the way of information, it's up to each individual to decide how they act on it. I can't control the actions of others. I'm not a theist, but not every person has to share the exact same religious beliefs to be compatible with others.
My reply: I agree, you are not responsible for the actions of others. It is up to each individual to decide BUT that is not the case in the JW org. Each member MUST accept and follow whatever the governing body has printed in the Watchtower magazine, or they will be subject to the hatred I described above, and must practice that hatred toward those who leave.
