I didn't think Buddhism believed in the Jesus story...am I wrong?

I have trouble believing in the Jesus story because there are other stories that predate Jesus that had a similar jist..with a "virgin Mary" of some sort, and a "messianic savior" that also died for our sins. And even some non-christians have a similar story. Am I wrong?

I guess that I'm more agnostic than anything right now (maybe that's the word for it...I don't know), though that can change. I have trouble believing in "hell" or any other kind of "destruction".

I guess I tend to believe in a "salad" of different beliefs. I take what I believe and then toss the other teachings that I don't believe out the window. I can't agree with the Christians on some of their beliefs, I can't believe that this all came about by evolution either. Now I can believe that, for some reason that God/Goddess or what have you, started the creation and then evolution took over. I'm still searching on that.

I have trouble with the bible being "the word of God" because many parts in there just seem to "story" like or fables. Maybe some of it's true, but then which parts?

I'm very opened minded and don't mind others viewpoints. As long as I'm "allowed" to challenge them if I believe differently.
