i have been very curious about a few things and knowing your willingness to help out us "weak" ones i have a couple of questions.. 1. are you allowed as jws to visit boards like these or is a matter of conscience?.

2.do you tell your fellow brothers and sisters that you come to this board?.

I wouldn't argue with what you said. The first person I ever heard use the reasoning from 1 Cor. was a Circuit Overseer. Then it was permissable for the Elders etc. to use it, but, it was never a definate assurance that the unbelieving mate would be "saved", only that by the believing mates efforts at being loyal to "Jehovah's Organization", the unbelieving one "might" be saved "who knows"

I know you have been deactivated, but I know you will probably still read the forum. I can see where a JW would make the argument you did, about bad association, but, after leaving the WT org., I firmly decided that the truth can and will stand any test.

I do not believe JWs coming to this board, are somehow, going to turn evil, just by reading and commenting on topics. If the WT teachings are so fragile, that they will not withstand this forum, then the WT is really in deep trouble, I believe they are.

I think plmkrzy is referring to 1Corinthians 7:12-16 and especially verse 16 which reads:

"For, wife, how do you know but that you will save [your] husband? Or, husband, how do you know but that you will save [your] wife?" NWT

That scripture was used a lot to encourage a witness with an unbelieving mate. We were also told, that the unbelieving mate "may" be "saved" by the loyality of the believing mate.

An e-mail I received this morning

a friend sent this to me this morning.

i know this kind of e-mail is circulated a lot, and maybe this one has, but i have not seen it before.. as one of jehovah's witnesses i would have simply ignored the message in this e-mail.

now as an ex-jw i see it in a totally different way.

my friend

the sunday after i wrote my da letter, i visited a local lutheran church.

i enjoyed the service, it was very beautiful, and i have been back several times.. after the service, a woman came up and started talking to me.

we ended up chatting for about 1 1/2 hours.

Become a Witness??

hello all...well i am very new to this site.

i have recently been contemplating of fiding out more about the jehovah's witness religion.

i have done some research, have talked and am friends with witnesses, and am ready to take it a step further.

I am not an expert on churches, but I have found Independent Baptist to stick to the scriptures closely. I enjoy Pentacostal because I like the singing and worship services there. I never experienced really worshipping God as a JW.

I have been to Methodist churches and I believe they are all right, there are a couple of things I may not like personally about Methodist.

I have been to Church of the Brethren. I thought they were a very loving and biblical church.

As I mentioned on another thread, I probably enjoy getting together at ex-jw conventions best.

Become a Witness??

hello all...well i am very new to this site.

i have recently been contemplating of fiding out more about the jehovah's witness religion.

i have done some research, have talked and am friends with witnesses, and am ready to take it a step further.

Fred, my advise would also be, definately pray and read the bible daily. But, I believe God hears prayers, not just JW prayers and I also believe in a personal relationship with The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit.

I found it very benefitial to go to conventions of ex-jws, where I could discuss what had happened in my life as a JW, along with others who had been there too.

I would recommend visiting a good bible based church, talk to the Pastor, talk to Christian believers and witness the Christian love there. Many believers will be happy to help in any way they can.

I would make the same recommendation to you Fred.
