Was about 60/40 KH versus Zoom, increased to around 70/30 following the letter telling JWs to get back to the KH.

Meeting attendance
by Benavidez ini was wondering what your guys' meeting attendance was like.
our meetings here is like 50/50 with zoom and in person.
the spanish has it a little "better" with it being like 30% zoom attendance with most attending in person.. i've heard of congregations in other states having attendance where most (even elders and ms) attend meeting only via zoom and even have their cameras off.

Dumb 'experiences' you were told as a JW
by BettyHumpter inthis one stands out in my mind.
it was reported that 'a brother', unnamed of course, was out in field service and was set upon by a pack of vicious dogs.
he made it back to the car and was injured quite badly with his arms, hands and leg bleeding heavily.

The leaflet in the kangaroo pouch was a classic.
One I heard that was a variation on a theme: while in the hairdressers a sister was told, by someone who worked there who, in hindsight, must have been a “demonic”, or a possessed person, that because Jehovah killed the demons’ children (the Nephilim) in the flood, the demons are now determined to snatch as many youngsters away from the truth as possible so they will die at Armageddon. Why at a hairdressers? I’ve no idea. I think this might have been an idea about the demons targeting young JWs, made in a talk at some point, that was grossly embellished and set in a conversation in a public place.

A look at Robert Alter’s translation: The Hebrew Bible
by Wonderment ina look at robert alter’s translation: the hebrew biblethree volumes labeled as, "the five books of moses"; "the writings"; and "prophets.
"verse numbers appear in the margins.
my take: some view this as a plus, since this allows for continuous, undistracted reading.

Kim he keeps calling you a liar but also refuses to identify a single lie. In fact he himself confirmed the things you said in his own livestream. When challenged, he says that he has no obligation to share what he considers lies, and acts as if it’s some sort of imposition to even ask what he is talking about. He is a pure chancer. (I don’t know if that phrase translates outside Scotland: roughly it means he is somebody who overreaches themselves, pretending to be something they are not, thinking they can get away with it if they act convincingly.)
Kim he has publicly called you a liar so often, and with no evidence whatsoever, it makes me wonder isn’t he himself vulnerable to a charge of libel at this point? Perhaps it wouldn’t be worth pursuing legally, but it should be pointed out that the one guilty of making false accusations here is LE himself.

Absolutely disgusting. Remember he pulled a similar trick on this forum when he outed hundred of fading JWs to their families on facebook? Instead of apologising, he demanded proof from those he harmed that they had been harmed! The way he told it he was the real victim because people were being mean to him, while at the same time he was insinuating that people who got shunned and disinvited to weddings were liars unless they post all their private details for him to verify. How warped do you need to be?
And now this. Where is his proof that none of the dozens of sex workers he visited had been coerced or trafficked? Given the percentages of of underage and forced victims in the countries where admits using sex workers dozens of times at least.
He turns logic upside down to make himself out to be the victim. If this was a made up story I would say it’s too far fetched. Nobody in real life is as cynical and malevolent to act as he does and claim it’s okay, are they? I continue to be shocked by every instalment of this saga.
Is Leah Remini aware of what an odious person she has been helping to promote? Still “no comment” from Paul Grundy either. Grundy was crucial in LE’s. To say nothing about all this is a complete copout.

It looks like he has decided to quietly drop it. If so, it would be a rare flash of insight on his part to stop digging the hole deeper.

Is this life all there is?

I think it is likely that there is more than this life, but, of course, I’m not sure, and what more there may be, may be something we have no conception or ability to anticipate. I find the idealism of Bernardo Kastrup persuasive at the moment. I find it makes more sense than a materialistic conception of reality which has no explanation for how consciousness could arise from matter. Ultimately we are all in the hands of God as regards whatever future we may have or not have.

If it saves people some money they would otherwise have sent to a psychopathic criminal (psychopath according to a qualified psychiatrist and criminal according to his own description of the countries he has paid vulnerable people for sex) then it’s a good thing that the thread continues to let people know what they are getting into. I am surprised there are still some people who support his behaviour but that’s their choice. At least they can make an informed choice, just as a majority of his patrons have chosen to withdraw their support.

Apostates apparently have their own terminology
by Vanderhoven7 ina dyed in the wool witness actually posted this as if non-witnesses invented unheard of terminology,.
"those who devote their life to criticize jehovah’s witnesses use a lot of very specific expressions and ideas common only to them:.
“8 old men in new york”,.

Every in group has their own vocabulary. It changes over time too.
When I first arrived on this board a common term among xjws was “Borganization” or just “The Borg”. Back then Star Trek: Voyager was current and “Borg” was a shorthand way of saying that Watchtower was a frightful organisation that “assimilated” members who lost autonomy and individuality within the “collective”. It was quite a striking metaphor. Looking back, however, it’s not just that Star Trek’s fearsome technology based villain “The Borg” has receded in popular imagination. I think the inexorable march of a superlative enemy, crushing all in its path, no longer seems to fit Watchtower that appears increasingly malleable, subject to the capricious nature of events beyond its control, and somewhat vulnerable, in a way that it was not around the turn of the millennium.

Local congregation donation and expense report. Very telling
by nowwhat? inin july the congregation received $2300.00.
only 40.00 for the worldwide work and zero for ramapo project!!!.
if this is typical no wonder the org.

Yes that’s right. When the accounts are read out they have money coming in to the congregation and then money coming in for the Watchtower society. Then in terms of expenses they have local expenses that are deducted from the donations to the congregation, plus the money sent from the congregation to the Watchtower society that is also deducted from the donations to the congregation. In my congregation I think the congregation donation to Watchtower was reduced from £600 to £300 over the past couple of years, and direct donations from local publishers to Watchtower are often low, and sometimes even zero.
I think insiders have recently indicated that money bequeathed in wills is a major source of revenue for Watchtower, perhaps more significant than the regular donations, and enough to keep them afloat and comfortable for the foreseeable future.
