Also regarding David2002 assertion that the apostles made mistakes regarding what Jesus would do, again out of their own mouths:
*** w52 7/15 p. 430 ‘Keeping Strict Watch on How We Walk’ ***
Some, seeking to find justification for their careless conduct, point to the mistakes that faithful men of old made, such as Noah, David and others. But these overlook the fact there is nothing to indicate that those servants of God repeatedly erred in these respects.---- And these deflections were written down so that those coming after them who erred in like manner might take comfort and hope in God’s mercy, but not to excuse sinning or to justify laxity.—Rom. 15:4.
Aren't those WT library's on CD an invaluable spiritual blessing?

SERVICE REPORT 2005 : WATCHTOWER FEB 1ST 2006
by BluesBrother ini have had a quick look and found no references to this, so - here goes..as in the mag we picked up on sunday.. worldwide % increase over 2004 = 1.3%.
memorial partakers 8524 (compared to 8570 in 2004).
most european and nth american lands show pretty static figs - britain 1% increase, canada 0%, germany 0%, france 1%, usa 0%... but spare a thought for the inhabitants of zambia where 1 person in 90 is a reporting witness, must be hell going down to the local market!

Watchtower's view of prophets:
*** w92 2/1 p. 3 Beware of False Prophets! ***
In fact, the main thought conveyed by the original Bible language words translated “prophesy” or “prophecy” is basically to tell forth God’s mind on a matter or, as the book of Acts puts it, to tell “the magnificent things of God.” (Acts 2:11) It is in this sense that many people are being robbed by false prophets.
Who, though, are the false prophets, and what are they stealing? To answer this question, let us look back in the history of the nation of Israel to the time of Jeremiah.

Can you feel the love?

What MUST Jw's believe that they don't KNOW they believe?
by AlmostAtheist ini'm looking for beliefs of jw's that have the consequence of also requiring some other belief that they may not like or be able to explain.. for instance, you probably believe that there are an infinite number of numbers, since you can always add 1 to any number and make a new one.. what you may not think about as a consequence of that belief is that you can also start with 2, add 2, and create an infinite series of even numbers.
the set of even numbers is infinite, and the set of whole numbers (which would fully encompass the even numbers) is also infinite.
so which set is bigger?

Ditto on the kudo's for Gary Buss's post. Loved it!
This point has been touched on....since almost all of the anointed are dead (no offense, but please hurry up and die), and the New Testament was written for them, it will have no more target audience and will become increasingly irrelevant. Did god really intend for this supposedly all important piece of literature to be understood by so few and once they're gone to no longer directly apply to anyone? -

Did you drink to get over being a Witness?
by free2beme inwhen i first left the witnesses, i had some times of being really pissed at all the wasted time and the way the people acted.
i remember one time, my spouse and i decided to just get ripped.
we did and as we did, we laughed and even cried at times over the issues.

I think many drink heavily because they're witnesses. About 99% of the witnesses I knew were not adverse to alcohol, and maybe 50-75% were heavy drinkers.
It seems this is the only vice allowed openly and many probably indulge just to feel something else besides guilt.
Now that I'm out, I actually drink less than I did as an active drinkin' dub... -

Question: Is there anything in the Bible that reveals the origin of the Negro?
Answer: It is generally believed that the curse which Noah pronounced upon Canaan was the origin of the Black race. Certain it is that when Noah said, 'Cursed be Canaan, a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren,' he pictured the future of the Colored race.
They have been and are a race of servants, but now in the dawn of the twentieth century, we are all coming to see this matter of service in its true light and to find that the only real joy in life is in serving others; not bossing them.
There is no servant in the world as good as a good Colored servant, and the joy that he gets from rendering faithful service is one of the purest joys there is in the world.

The bottom line argument a dub must accept to refuse blood
by Check_Your_Premises insince the entire scriptural, historical, and medical basis for the ban on blood is baseless and incoherent, ultimately it rests on the credibility of the wt as god's organization.. of course we can't rely on that either, because the history of the wt includes a ban on organ transplants and vaccinations.
today they allow those treatments, and therefore by their own admission they incorrectly placed restrictions on them in the past.
unquestionably people died adhering to those restrictions.

Great question!
But I'm thinking if there is any kind of example in the Bible that could even come close to suggesting this, it would be have been turned into a Distict Convention theme by now , followed by a yearly text and probably a 192 page book scheduled for repeated book study review.
Perhaps you've predicted some new light? -

WTS vs Quotes: Requiem for a Research Web Site
by Quotes inin compliance with the terms of a settlement agreement, my information and research web site, http://quotes.watchtower.ca, is now "dark".
the domain "watchtower.ca" has been transferred to wts (i assume they will have it pointing to borg.org watchtower.org asap).
my copies of the site have been destroyed, the files deleted, and my wt library cd has been destroyed, in accordance with the settlement agreement which will afford a "discontinuance" of their suit against me.

Thank you Quotes. Your site was one of the first ones that I visited in my time of personal crisis. It helped me learn the real truth (i.e. the lies) from their own writings and this had a very powerful effect on me and my eventual fade.
I just read the settlement and if I wasn't totally convinced the Watchtower B & S weren't just a publishing company before, I am now, more than ever. Just paragraph 10 alone, itemizing potential profits and/or losses shows where their real concern is. I also liked that you had to agree that you could do irreparable harm to the WTS by not shutting down your site, trashing your CD Roms and any other version of that life saving information. Hope that at least gave you some satisfaction....
All the best to you and yours in the future and put me on the list for the "tell all" book.
Cheers,
Ringo
