As a Witness I Hated Personal Study- How About You ?
by flipper ini started a serious thread on cult mind control- so i figured i'd start a sarcastic funny thread, or serious, your choice how to explore it , on personal study !
i got so sick and tired as a witness with that expression being crammed down my throat !
" personal study " they told us !

Gotta do your personal study or you will wilt away spiritually !
That stuff used to bore the bejesus outa me so I had ways of making it fun. After all I realized the whole JW mentality was all for show, show up at the meetings, show you studied, show how spiritual you are, show how many hours you can put in field service, show how many studies you can get....bla,bla,bla....
So my study technique which made it fun for me was to use at least 4 colored highlight pens and mark up my literature, color coded, yellow for the A. answer orange for the B. answer, green for the scriptures and pink (oh I loved pink!) for an answer I might raise my hand and give if I felt like it or wasn't in the bathroom or outside walking the kiddo around the parking lot. It was hard work all that boring underlining! Plus it looked like I studied even if I really didn't!

when i got here, people kept telling me that if you come here, walk here, and are supposed to be living here, you will do so within a month of touching the ground.

Christmas Party!TO: All Employees
DATE: 4th November 2007
Re Office Christmas Party
I'm happy to inform you that the company Christmas Party will take place on December 23rd, starting at noon in the private function room at the Grill House.
There will be a cash bar and plenty of drinks! We'll have a small band playing traditional carols. Please feel free to sing along. Don't be surprised if the Managing Director shows up dressed as Santa Claus! A Christmas tree will be lit at 1.00 p.m. Exchange of gifts among employees can be done at that time, however, no gift should be over $10.00 to make the giving of gifts easy for everyone's pockets. This gathering is only for employees! The Managing Director will make a special announcement at the Party.
I wish a Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Sincerely,
Pauline

DATE: 5th November 2007RE: Holiday Party
In no way was yesterday's memo intended to exclude our Jewish employees. We recognize that Chanukah is an important holiday, which often coincides with Christmas, though unfortunately not this year. However, from now on we're calling it our 'Holiday Party'. The same policy applies to any other employees who are not Christians.
There will be no Christmas tree or Christmas carols sung. We will have other types of music for your enjoyment. Happy now?
Happy Holidays to you and your family,
Pauline

Regarding the note I received from a member of Alcoholics Anonymous
requesting a non-drinking table, you didn't sign your name. I'm happy to
accommodate this request, but if I put a sign on a table that reads, "AA
Only", you wouldn't be anonymous anymore!!! How am I supposed to handle
this? Somebody?!
Forget about the gift exchange, no gift exchange allowed now since the Union
Officials feel that $10.00 is too much money and Management believe $10.00 is a little cheap. NO GIFT EXCHANGE WILL BE ALLOWED.
Pauline.

DATE: 7th November, 2007RE: Holiday Party
What a diverse group we are! I had no idea that December 20th begins the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, which forbids eating and drinking during daylight hours.
There goes the party! Seriously, we can appreciate how a luncheon at this time of year does not accommodate our Muslim employees' beliefs. Perhaps the Grill House can hold off on serving your meal until the end of the party or else package everything up for you to take home in a little foil doggy bag. Will that work? Meanwhile, I've arranged for members of Weight Watchers to sit farthest from the dessert buffet and pregnant women will get the table closest to the toilets. Gays are allowed to sit with each other, lesbians do not have to sit with gay men, each will have their own table. Yes, there will be flower arrangements for the gay men's table too. To the person asking permission to cross dress - no cross dressing allowed. We will have booster seats for short people. Low fat food will be available for those on a diet. We cannot control the salt used in the food, so we suggest those people with high blood pressure taste the food first. There will be fresh fruits as dessert for diabetics. The restaurant cannot supply "No Sugar" desserts. Sorry!
Did I miss anything?!?!?!?!?!

Vegetarian pricks - I've had it with you people!!! We're going to keep this party at the Grill House whether you like it or not, so you can sit quietly at the table furthest from the "grill of death", as you so quaintly put it, you'll get your f******g salad bar, including organic tomatoes, but you know tomatoes have feelings too. They scream when you slice them. Oh yes, I've heard them scream. I'm hearing them scream right NOW!
I hope you all have a rotten holiday. Drink, drive, and die!The Bitch from HELL!!!

I'm sure I speak for all of us in wishing Pauline Lewis a speedy recovery,
and I'll continue to forward your cards to her.
In the meantime, the Management has decided to cancel our Holiday Party
and instead, give everyone the afternoon of the 24th December off with full pay -

The abuse continues, emotional, but it's abuse, ck it out. . .
by Pioneer Spit...oh, i mean Spirit inmy sister's girls, 9 and 12 were in colorado for 3 weeks with their mom in december, we had the pleasure of celebrating christmas all together.
these are great girls, as most kids are!, the 12 year old worried about her pets while she was away.. when she returned, they were gone.
she's crushed, devastated, deeply depressed.

Hey don't get me wrong but the way you present this there are too many things missing. Are you asking for advise or just wanting sympathy? What do you really want, just to vent? We all feel helpless, what can we do or say to make this any better for the children involved they are the ones really suffering.
The parents share custody and are in different states.
One question which to me seems logical.......why doesn't the mother of these children live about a block away from them so she can be more hands on and give them a soft place to go when things get bad at Dad's? Most mother's are very tenacious about protecting their children.

Maybe God is evolving, too..........
by journey-on inwith all the topics about god and whether he loves us or not....why he was such a meanie in the ot......his habit of flip-flopping from loving to raging to loving again....made me think:.
if the bible god is real, maybe he, too, is evolving spiritually.
maybe when he created us, he thought in "black and white" concepts: i set the rules...you obey them....if you do, i'll be nice and reward you....if you don't, i'll punish the hell out of you (including but not limited to death by stoning).
-
bikerchic
If God is perfect does that mean that he cannot become more perfect? is he stuck?
My thought exactly. How can perfect evolve and why would it need to?
Here's a good book for God to read:
Getting Unstuck: Breaking Your Habitual Patterns & Encountering Naked Reality [AUDIOBOOK] (Audio CD) by Pema Chodron (Author) http://www.amazon.com/Getting-Unstuck-Breaking-Habitual-Encountering/dp/159179238X/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1200105804&sr=1-2

When she returned, they were gone. She's crushed, devastated, deeply depressed. Their evil JW father somehow 'disposed' of her cat and her horse, likely sold the horse, while she was gone. No explanation.
Can you believe the cruelty???!
Well in my opinion what is really cruel about all of this is that some adults seem to think it's okay to leave two minor children in the hands of an abusive parent. They are children and it's up to the adults who know about this to deal with it by not doing so and believe it or not by commiserating with the children over it you are being just as abusive, you see you're an adult children depend on adults to protect them.
They might be describing things to you in a complaining manner because they don't really feel they have a voice to say HELP! Please take it as a sign that they need help and get it for them however you can and as soon as possible.
If it were me I would be on the first plane out there and have already called child protective services and have the local police department ready to got to the door with me as soon as I got into town with a can of real whip ass! But that's just me, sigh.
