What direction will the government take from the Royal Commission?
by barry ini have a friend at church that is a lawyer and he writes laws for the governments health department.. i asked him what the government will do with the directions of the royal commission?
he believes australian laws are already adequate and there will be no change in that area.
he added where we may see changes is in the area of compensation and that millions of dollars in compensation may be replaced with with tens of millions by guilty organisations.

These changes alone are enough to cause the adjustments guilty organisations need to comply with existing laws or be bankrupted out of business.
Cases from past decisions where compensation was paid will be reexamined to see if more funding should be paid to the victim. My friend was slightly sympathetic to the plight of the JW position because he wasn't familiar with the problems regarding the JW policies.

JW EXPERT WITNESS FLOORED BY COMMISSION OF INQUIRY LAWYER
by steve2 inmuch has already been written about dr monica applewhite, the expert witness hired by the jw organization.
her job was to provide "expert" testimony to the australian commission of inquiry into jehovsh's witnesses' policies and practices on child sexual abuse.
astonishingly, dr applewhite was unprepared for the inquiry lawyers' questions.

The commission as I understand it has no power to do anything else but to change the law through the government of the day.
The WT society would then be faced with large fines and compensation to victims if they failed to act on legal advice

Because there is so much on here about the royal commission I thought it would be helpful to put up the video of the original announcement of the commission by prime minister Gillard. It was not to be as it doesn't seem to work but it can be accessed on youtube. Barry

Ruby,
I admit we are a bunch of the descendants of criminals from England but we have advanced to a modern society.
I believe the elders are getting a dose of the same medicine they give out to the people under their care in the congregation because in this royal commission they are treated better than the people under them that have suffered as victims
