When did Battle of Carchemish take place?
by badboy inthere's a very good question to stump a jw(hope i have spelled the place right?!).
it says in my niv study bible it toke place c.609 bc so therefore the fall of jerusalem toke place approxiametly(sic)20 years later according to the bible.. if you say carchemish toke place in 627,`can you provide evidence of this?
' might be a good question to a jw.

Sneaking out the back door?
by ozziepost inthe february issue of kingdom ministry for britain informs that for "the past five years, more than 400 people each year have responded to help and been reactivated".
(page 5, paragraph 14).
interestingly, in that same period the average number of publishers has gone from 124,623 in 1996 to 119,655 in 2001. during that time around (say) 2,500 have been baptised each year.. do you get the feeling that something doesn't add up?

What were the the source(s) for the NWT ?
by badboy ini was reading my niv study bible when it said that some of the septuagint texts are more reliable than the masoretic because the chronicler in chron 1& 2 mentions that david burned the idols when he took baal perazim(sic)(the chronicler is obviously taking a lot of material from the books of samuel) in some septuagint texts the above is mentioned in one of the books of samuel!.
is the nwt translation taken from the septuagint or the masoretic texts?.
if later, they are translating from a unreliable source

Should JWs be metalworkers?
by badboy inthe watchtower says you shouldn't celebrate birthdays because two tyrants did evil deeds on their birthday,.
should a true christian be a metalworker because according to my niv study bible `cain' means`metalworker', because metalworking in the bible is assoiceted with murder?.
