Maybe you need to be thrown into the midst of war to make you understand what is really happening. I wish that the draft would be enacted once again to show mealy mouth wimps like yourself in this country what real life survival in the midst of enemies is really like. You ............and others of your ilk need to be in the middle of firefights that make you cry for deliverance.

You need to thank and support those young men who volunteer to support our way of life. Until then........just keep smelling your own ass that your head is stuck in.

The comments about this have pissed me off to the point that this is my last comment here. You people are imposible.. You have come from a mind control cult as I have but you are not willing to progress to the next level.

All you want to do is carp about everything..........without any real dialog as what is necessary to move on. You just want to feel good and to hell with reality.

I'm done here. My life is fulfilled enough to move on and tell you bleeding hearts to kiss off. My life will be happy while you still swim in the swill of your past.

You won't like what I have to say and I don't really care!

When it comes to people who want to destroy people as Americans or Canadians or anyone ANYWHERE.........they are called TERRORISTS.

TERRORISTS do not deserve any rights under any law or convention (such as Geneva) Their only goal is to kill you..........even if it means torture until you die.

All of you BLEEDING HEARTS here on JWD (I just wrote a list of your online names, but decided they don't have to be posted, because you and all the rest of us know who you are) need to take a real long look at what is happening. You are a potential victim of Muslim extremeism. Not all Muslims are this way, but forget the political and feel good DIVERSITY correctness for once and know that you and your family's lives are in danger. Please pull your heads out of your ass.

Don't you think for one minute that any one of them would slit your throat or the throat of your children to further their cause? Where are your minds for crying out loud?

By saying you don't like what our government is doing about the terrorism threat is like saying that you are on their side! Forget that this administration has been screwed up by Bush and his cohorts. No matter who is in charge......these people still want us dead. So hooray for Bush or whoever else is in control or was or will be in control. I'm happy that they have the balls to do what they do to protect my way of life. Do you want to give up your way of life to cowtow to these killers ......intent on destroying you...your relatives.....your children?

If they are caught in activities that show that they want to commit atrocities against citizens of another country or belief...........then I say......waterboarding and any means of getting them to spill the beans on their cohorts is acceptable.

Maybe some of you need to have one of your own family members die at their hands to change your FEEL GOOD attitude. Maybe you need what happened to Nick Berg...happen to one of your own family members to wake you up to the REAL world of terrorism. Maybe you have it a little too good in your life!

And to you bleeding hearts against waterboarding or any other means of interrogation, I'm sure you just think our soldiers are bad too! Those guys who are putting their lives on the line to protect your freedom to spout your bull$hite feel good opinions on JWD.

I'm glad that in my Vietman years........that interrogation saved the lives of many many many of my fellow soldiers.

If you didn't/don't have a family member who shed a drop of blood in defending your freedoms...then you just plain don't care. Why not buy a plane ticket and go and join the enemy. See how long you like the way of life there.\

Ok......so it's your turn to blast me...........go ahead.......put the rag on your head and behave just like the rest of the ones who want you and me dead.

online web sites for practicing morse code

does anyone know of any online web sites for copying morse code, i would like to stay in practice but don't have a receiver or equipment needed to ber up.

but would love to get a lot of practice in.

so if any out there know, would love to hear from you.

Hello ush,

I'm happy to know that someone wants to learn or get their code up to speed. Being a ham radio for 30 years, my code is pretty good these days. I can send code at over 30 WPM but my receiving is a little slower depending on how often I get on the bands.

There are several ham operators on JWD, but I don't know if they like code or not. My love is QRP CW and I'm having a ball with it.

There are many sites for online code practice. This is just one of them..

My suggestion is to go to your keyword box and type in MORSE CODE PRACTICE

I did this and it brought up a lot of sites dedicated to this. You also might want to go the the ARRL home page and see if they have anything of interest.

Morse code might be a communication tool of the past, but it is not dead. In fact............the military in Iraq is using it again because the enemy doesn't really understand it these days. The phone and satellite communication there is subject to being listened to and understood, but CW is scrambled and very effective in what our guys are doing there.

Why would a young sister marry an old brother?

i recall a ms brother about 62 years old dating and marrying a sister about 30 years younger.

i respect their choice and if they are in love, well good for them.

but i don't think it's to the best interest of the younger one...... do jw's accept bigger age differences in marriage than other religions?.

I love you all but sometines you say things that really piss me off... first off, I lived with an Asian lady for 4 years who was 25 years my jounior. So the post about Asians pissed me off and now you guys think people in the so called truth marry older men more than those outside. I've dated ladies younger than me, older than me, and the same age as me... loved things about all off them-hated things about all of them. If I found someone I loved whatever legal age, I'd enjoy their company... I've also dated ladies in every race.... I mean every race with the exception of Indian. They were all just people to me, plain and simple.... so for whomever thinks that us old guys are now some part of some sub species... you can kiss it!

I have dated an older woman. (5 years my senior) after my wife died. That was when I was still a JW and she wante to marry at once. In that same period, I dated a younger sister who also wanted to marry at once. Seems no matter what the age, to have sex, one needs to marry in the JW religion. So.......with both of them.......I decide on just being content with Mrs. Palm.

Then I started dating worldly women and really enjoyed every one I went out with. Some my age and one in particular who was 13 years younger than me. I guess it was my Harley at the time and not my charming personallity.

I just wish I could meet someone to spend the rest of my life with at this stage of the game. And now I have to say that age does matter. I don't want someone a whole lot younger than myself. About 2-7 years either way........someone with the same mindset. There is no way I could make a younger woman happy other than giving her a meal ticket.......and that is out of the question.

So.....young women marrying older men in my opinion.......is mainly a $$$$$$$ issue. But there are other reasons such as wanting a man who is mature. Sorry guys.......but most men today......the ones in their 30's are very immature. For crying out loud.......I was raising a family at 23 and a home owner to boot! Most guys I know in their 30's today are still living at home and playing video games.

I've heard it said that today's 60 year old's are the new 30. In the meantime, I just go with the flow and find happiness in a daily routine.

JW Stance On Joining The YMCA

i have been emailing with several jws in my congregation about the osce issue.

i pointed out the hypocrisy of not allowing us to join the ymca, but then having osce ngos.

one sister emailed me that a sister in her congregation just received a letter from the society stating that it is ok for her to to join the y. she needed to join for rehab purposes.

Please find out if this is really true because Amber Rose who posts here was DF'd some months back for joining the Y for exercise. I'm sure she would love to throw that in the elders faces even though she might not want to go back.

It was stated on another thread that the "layoff's" were long over, so now I'm curious. Have any of the unlucky ones who were thrown to the wolves to fend for themselves turned against the 'tower?

Many of them haven't had a real job in decades and now have to rely on making enough to get by, and hopefully pay enough into Social Security to get something in their old age. I sure hope this has made some of them wake up.

It was also mentioned in an old thread that the 'tower would pay them a stipend of $500.00 a month to help them adjust into their new life. I also wonder if this stipend is permanent or will it eventually end. Personally, I would say that if they are really getting $omthing $$ from the 'tower, it will be for a limited period.

i've only posted since feb 07..but i have lurked for several years prior and there was usually something interesting on the board.

as i was reading the active topics list this morning, only a couple things jumped out at me as interesting...its been this way since the dgate and tgate incidents.... i was discussing this with a long time poster via im yesterday....does it seem to anyone else that so many of the topics are ...i dont know....odd...or different than they used to be...and i dont mean that in a good way.. i miss the newbies coming on and telling us their stories.... i miss the long time posters updating us on their lives post-borg... i guess with the recent uproar, the lurkers are hesitant to become newbies (cant say as i blame them now...we probably scared them off , and maybe the vets are just as hesitant...after all, someone went 2 years with their fraud/hoax...who will believe anyone else now?

i hope this is just a temporary cycle on this board..i have read many many posts from the archives...i hope one day soon we can get back to a happy medium here.. by the way, i like the fluff threads, but these seem to be more and more sex related (maybe that word will wake someone)... yet they get all the attention....and then someone goes too far and it gets locked down by a mod and the poster restricted......(i am not a prude...just sometimes enough is enough).

personally am not dwelling on the doctrine threads anymore...I am more interested in the lives behind the screen names....and after meeting some of you in person, I find you to be infinitely more interesting and certainly quite real!

This is why I don't post much anymore. I try to respect everyone on this forum, but when they start talking crazy and are so preoccupied with sex (which they probably are not getting because of the fear put upon them by the WTBTS) or other topic that are way off base, then I just pass it by.

Then there is the age gap here on JWD. There are so many new ones in their 20's coming out of the woodwork because they are fed up with the JW teachings. With all due respect, I believe the ones under 35 or so (I'm just trying to generalize the age number here) don't know the same organization that those over 35 and into their 40's, 50's, and up do! Remember.......those of us over 50 don't know the same organization that the one's from Ruthorford's era put up with. The WTBS changes doctrinal belief (new light ) every so many years to keep the new generation in tow. That's why so many of the younger ones don't have a clue as to what happened just 10 to 20 years ago and what we were forced to accept as truth then. Likewise, us older ones who have been out for a while really don't understand or have a clue as to what the younger ones have had to put up with.

Then there are those no matter their age, who had their life practically ruined because of a lifetime of JW belief system, and who have family that has hurt them and still hurting them, and are going through a lot of emotional turmoil. Some of these have not been able to move on and make new friends because of the family connection....and some of them DON"T want to move on. They chose to remain in the pain! Those of us without the JW family connection need to have more compassion for them. This is just another gap between them and those who have moved on and made a new life with new friends.

All forums need give and take among the members. However, the annonimity of the internet grows some really big cyber muscles on some who might really be quiet in real life. I say "be yourself" and don't try to be a big shot. Speak your piece without deliberately trying to offend anyone.

Another thing that bothers me is when a thread on athiesm is posted......those of us who are Christian should just stay out of it and not try to convert. And if it is a thread about Christianity, it would be nice if those who hate the subject would just stay out of it and not come in and espouse their dislike for it. Same goes with politics.

On any subject though, it is nice to agree to disagree without reverting to cyber fisticuffs. That's where we go back to what I said above....big cyber muscles!

Maybe if there weren't so many crazy topics, some of the early JWDers who still lurk just might be encouraged to speak up and tell us how they are doing and what their life is like today.....years later!

I get choked up every time I check in on JWD because of Linda's passing and what Trev is going through. My heart goes out to them and anyone else in similar circumstances. I've been through it and even though it has been 11-1/2 years since my precious Joyce died, she is in my memory and I yearn for her on many an occasion.

There's no doubt that we are an international community able to share love, grief and whatever else comes about. We have that bond that puts aside any nasty retort that might be made on a post that is not to our liking.

All I can say right now is Thank all of you who are on JWD............and thank you Simon for providing this forum.
