  it started me thinking about what it must have been like for him being raised as a gb member's only child at bethel.

  now i had a father that was at the forefront of the society's activites, and i know about some of the "perks" that come with that.

  This whole thread was started because someone wondered what Judah's life must have been like while he was growing up.

  I see a pretty good picture here! An educated dad who decided on a course of life, a mother who had a career before settling into marriage, a stable home environment, thinking parents who gave the best of what they had to their child, an obedient boy who chose to make good use of what was provided, a fine worker, a compatible marriage, a sense of direction.

  WT didn't underwrite those things, they were all personal choices made by the persons involved.

  Jehovah's blessings, Judah (and family)!!!

  J.Ben was married with children (as she recalls best) even before Ray got kicked out

  IMHO she has Albert and Judah mixed up.

  If Judah is about 48 years old now and Ray Franz was booted in about 1980, Judah would have been awfully young to be married and have children at that point. Not impossible, of course, but highly doubtful given his upbringing.

  Now why would "God's organization" need lawyers?

  To get "the work" legally recognized in countries such as Russia?

  To resist various tax-imposing entities who have differing views on what "not for profit" means?

  To curtail negative (and thus undeserved) publicity?

  To ensure a share in any funding or distributions to be made available through religious organizations?

  Think of the examples set by Daniel and the other prophets who negotiated Terms and Conditions with various worldly governments.

  How depressed/ill are JW`s?

  having spent a couple of months in the world after a decade of devotion to the wt i have began to realise how hardly any of my friends have problems with illness.

  it dawned on me a while ago that many, many witnesses have problems with health in one way or another.

  how many times did you go to the hall and ask someone how they were doing to be told, 'oh, just struggling on', or 'i have`nt been too great' or 'i`m feeling a bit low just now'.

  Exciting news for me!

  social security called this morning and told me that i've been determined to be permanently disabled and the payments will continue!

  it's incredible that it only took 2 months from the date i filed!

  they usually fight a person all the way through the countless appeals process!.

  When you became a dub, did you ask the Catholic/Baptist/Whatever Church to nullify your baptism?

  Actually, one of the required steps in presenting yourself for baptism as a JW is formally renouncing any previous church memberships.

  If a person had been baptized into another faith they were expected to contact the administrators of the religion and request removal of their name from the membership rolls (even if they had not attended for decades).
