This thread is ridiculous! You can't accuse someone of Satanic Ritual Abuse across an internent board with no proof and expect people to buy it. You can't relate personal experiences and expect people on an internet board to accept it as fact. You can't even expect people to believe who you say you are on an internet board. For cryin out loud! Just because someone says something is substantiated doesn't make it so. I am naturally a skeptic. And I am especially skeptical of people who accuse others of serious crimes in public but have not taken the issue to authorities for criminal investigation. If you expect any less of me, I propose that is unreasonable.

Sisters going after minor brothers
by nowaytess ini know when it comes to pedophiles we are young girls or teenage girls who have been molested by men.. i know of 2 cases where a teenage boy is being seduced by an older woman in the congregation.. .
i know of one when i was a jw in my congregation.
she was 24 and he was 15 1/2 - 16 when they meet.

This seems a little ridiculous. Morally it may be wrong, but then again it can be argued that sex before marriage is equally morally wrong. The only difference is one is illegal by Federal law. Consensual sex between a teenager and an adult is completely different than child molestation. A teenager is capable of reciprocating flirtatious actions, and in some cases may initiate it. I don't think a 16 year old boy having sex with an older woman is anywhere close to being comparable to an adult molesting a child. I don't think it is right, but I certainly don't think it is as criminal.

Discrediting Credibility - Telling Stories Safely
by Celtic init has long appeared to me that some here within this community and possibly lurkers too might find this forum a toally unsafe platform upon which to let their personal stories be told for fear of attack, disbelief or other derogatory and unsavoury comments, even on behalf of those ones who really should know better.. now, why is it these days, and i'm sure i'm not the only one who experiences this, that i feel that i do not want to tell publicly my full personal story and/or experience relating to upbringing with the jw's?
why am i fearful of attack?
why am i fearful of disbelief?

Oh ... BTW ... Teddy, if you are reading .... there is NO statute of limitations on rape where you apparently did this .....
If that is the case, then she should be able to take this accusation to the judicial system, rather than just tell people about it. I'm sorry, but I do not believe any accusation without knowing the full details and history of each person, or cold hard evidence. As far as I am concerned continued talk about this is slander. I understand that the worst thing for a rape victim is to not be believed. That is why it is important that they relay their account to those in a position to verify or investigate it. On the other hand, one of the worst things to happen to an innocent person is to be accused of child molestation, so that should be considered as well. To tell people second hand on a public discussion board is really pushing it.
I'm sorry, but that is far from believable evidence. I'm certainly not going to label anyone a chold molester, simply because you have never lied on this forum and you can confirm that their "hands aren't clean." I've never seen Mulan or Hawk lie on here either, but that does not confirm whether or not someone is a child molester. I don't think I have ever lied on here, so what does that imply? Absolutely nothing. Being mistaken does not require lying, so we are all suspect for being wrong. Besides, isn't this the same logic that JWs get you to believe in God's prophecies?I do not have permission to say more, but if anyone has ever proven ANYTHING I've said to be a lie, post it here.
Otherwise, you ALL can feel confident, and take my word for it if you don't believe Mulan or Hawk.

Mulan, I always enjoy your posts. But that is a serious accusation and should not be thrown about lightly. Was this case ever tried in court or taken to authorities? If not, then that can turn into a serious case of slander. This is obvious by the number of people on this thread alone who are inclined to believe it without a single ounce of evidence besides a second hand accusation. Jaracz has always kind of creeped me out, but I'm certainly not going to let that sway me to believe he is a molester on hearsay alone. Forgive my skepticism Mulan, but I only know you through reading a few of your posts and I don't know your friend one bit. For all I know, she could be heading into senility early or a compulsive liar or anything. It's sad to see people quickly pin someone with a label that can stay with them the rest of their life, right or wrong.

An effective approach to the pediphile problem
by kelsey007 ini thought the idea was to help the victims.
will silent lambs change wt policy?

Overbeer - your concern then seems to be that what the WT is wrong as opposed to protecting children from wrong. So depending on what you are trying to accomplish is going to determine if it "is the best way to get things done."
Approaching lawmakers about a problem that is not acknowledged is like trying to call the cops when you see a UFO.
This is not the case. The point of approaching lawmakers is to GET them to acknowledge the problem so that laws will change. With all the cases in the news (not just JWs) I do not know why this would be too difficult. The laws basically exclude religous leaders from having to report suspected child abuse and that is wrong. Certain states have acknowledged this and ammended the laws. What is so ineffective about trying to get the other states to follow suit? I think time and money spent doing this would be much more effective than flying to NY and going on a March. Unless of course you are just pissed off and want to yell and scream at the WT and get other people to hate them too.
Besides, only people wearing top hats and feathers are nutcases.

Kelsey, I agree with you. If the concern is for the children, then the priority should first be to ammend the laws to protect all children. I personally live in a state that requires reporting from everyone. If I didn't, I would be writing to whoever I possibly could to get this changed. That would be much more effective than a march that is simply going to bring the public's eye on the WT. Legislation can be used in lawsuits, which is what will make the WT react. The public opinion cannot be used, and as already pointed out, can have the reverse effect on many JWs.
I also agree with Path that changes will only come at the WT discretion and they will be certain to do it in a way to make them appear in control. They will NEVER make obvious changes because of public opinion.
I also agree that legislation will not change JW culture, but it will increase the odds of getting more cases of abuse reported and that's all we can really hope for.

Will my JW wife and son get into trouble for this?
by dmouse insome of you may remember my son's struggle with his beliefs about a year ago.
benjamin was brought up as a jw and was heavily involved, used extensively on the platform as a good jw role model.
however, about a year ago (when he was 13) he started to have doubts and went through a cycle of depression, even contemplating suicide.

Sex Scandal in Montana
by silentlambs init has been brought to my attention that there may be a major scandal working in the billings montana area.
it involves more than ten elders in a motel room at the district convention this summer and 14-16 year old girls.
my information source says there is more to come with possible charges being filed, but key jw's work for social services there and are involved in the investigation.

No matter how good Bill's intentions were in posting this thread, it is in poor taste and will hopefully be reconsidered next time. As others have pointed out, even if his intentions are good, this is one way to start urban myths, rumours, etc. There are quite a few people at the beginning of this thread who seem to have bitten into this and no doubt will repeat it. Even if they repeat it as an unverifiable rumour it will eventually turn into "fact." That's a shame.

Elder removed because of son's mistake...more BS
by LyinEyes inwild turkey ran into an elder he knows in business and the brother didnt know about us d/a ourselves.
which is shocking to me, since there is so much gossip always going on, now i am sure everyone who doesnt know soon will.. anyway, this brother has been an elder for many years, and he told my husband that he was removed because his son, who is a senior in high school was publicly reproved.
i think this is very sad , only because of more of their polices and backward ways of thinking.

From what I've experienced, I concur with JT's post. Some elders are good, some elders are bad. Some elders are going to use the WT rules the way their warped minds see fit, some are going to use them to emulate the mind of Christ. In this particular case, who knows, maybe they were a loving body of elders that recognized this guy wasn't spending enough time with his family and too much time on elder stuff. Maybe they were a bunch of jerks and this guy didn't like the "color of the carpet in the second school" so its payback time. Who knows. I've seen it go both ways.
