See, I'm so eager I double-posted.
time to swallow the red pill.. right now both books remain unopened - sealed in the amazon.com box buried in a backpack in the trunk of my car.
i feel like i'm smuggling drugs or something.. i'll be starting coc tomorrow ... .
this is more of a vanity post than anything.
GetBusy,
There is no way in my mind a sane person could continue as a witness after reading those books
I agree heartily! In my DA letter, I wrote:
Regardless of what you have heard about the book or its author, please set prejudice aside and read it. I cannot conceive of any honest person who would not be moved very, very deeply by this book.

Hi Kendall,
Unfortunately, the book is not available via download right now. I think I may talk to Ray about setting up a system like that. I'm a developer with the necessary experience to do it as a labor of love, and I think a lot of people would benefit.
Regarding the PO box idea, 53 pounds a year is a bit expensive, but you'd only need it for a month, right? Can you do it that way?

Hello Holly,
Here's my story. I was raised in the religion, basically a model Witness and star performer. Finally came to my senses and had the guts to look at things square on at the age of 25. I had the knowledge necessary to leave at 19, but a mixture of indoctrination and fear kept me in, I now recognize. So I guess it took me six years of constant cognitive dissonance to force me to take my head out of the sand.
And yes, it really is difficult to leave, since they threaten you with all sorts of bad things if you do.

.
my parents go to a catholic church, and they say that the average age is in the 60's.. at the kh, the average age is about 30, if you calculate the age of the children too.. theoretically, the average age of witnesses should go up with time .
if less and less people become witnesses, the average age should go up, just like traditional religions....no?.

A recent study by Kephart and Zellner
One of the major cult-like aspects of the WTBTS is that they do not subject themselves to demographic scrutiny. Elders have been sent letters specifically instructing them not to cooperate with researchers, saying things like, "They can learn all they need to know from our publications."
Therefore, I am given to wonder about your study. Care to cite the exact source?

ithinkisee,
Congrats! You will not regret it. And as a previous poster said, as soon as you start reading it, your apprehension will vanish. Ray Franz is a remarkable man.
Kendal,
Two options for you:
Good luck!

does anyone know where i could find this list of questions?
Hi Qcmbr,
I think that the list provided above is intended to be applied to the organization and culture, not to any particular individuals inside it.
