i swear i can remember this exact meeting.
i was 15 at the time and could not belieeeeve what i was hearing!.
I remember that too. We had actually (JW friends of my ex husbands and I) been going out and dancing. The places at the time we had gone to in the past had remodeled to keep up with the disco rave. I still can't figure out what was so bad about it.. never did..
I don't miss disco however.

my wife had a long drive home from north yorkshire with her younger brother (who is a dub) last night.
she was asking him questions about his social life and was very surprised at his response.
apparently, each week in london some brothers organize raves in various hired nightclubs.
Sex in toilets, in the car park, in cars and even people getting a little too tactile on the dance floor is apparently quite common. Drugs are used and alcohol flows freely
wow... well that may come down on them eventually if someone 'tells' what is going on.
I went to a couple of JW formals where there was 300-400 in attendance. The music was very good.. (in my mind) R&B, Hip Hop, Jazz... and nothing bad went on as far as I could see....
but I was reprimanded by the elders for attending. They said too many people.. and reminded me of WT articles about large gatherings...

You might want to send her the article that Blondie posted unbeliever. Make sure and site where it is so she can look it up on her cd. Really if she points out that article and does what it says, she will get her freedom.. and most of all so will you.... her off your back!
By the way his wife IS remarried with out grounds- with WT sanction....TO AN ELDER!!!!!
This is all part of what pisses me off and why I left. Inconsistancies. We have rules and always (where I was) they must be followed...but go somewhere else and people can do what they want without punishment.
Well I do know current situations where the elders won't let them remarrry without obeying the strict rules. Having admittance to guilt OR two witnesses OR applying that article.. so it must depend on WHO you are.. and who you know..
I was never a favorite.. and when my recent husband screwed me over I walked away from all of it. Thankfully it is the best decision I ever made.

The article that Blondie pointed out has been used to get freedom especially for those who were married to non JWs. You said she has even met his gf in the past. If there is no doubt in her mind that she has her freedom, all she needs to do is follow the steps in the article. They aren't supposed to even be able to deny her. It is supposed to be between her and Jehovah. Although if she is wrong, if there is even the slightest doubt, then it is on her conscience.
I would just pull out of it. Next time she harrasses you about him, I'd tell her that you are going to tell her precious elders how she is pushing for him to 'commit adultry' and how unchristian it is.. that should shut her up.

I am so glad to be out from under that 'sh*t'
oh yes.. thank you Panda. I can't believe I have forgotten to appreciate that! Time to come home on old meeting nights and relax... not stress about guilt for not attending...........same with Sat and Sun mornings.. not needing to use my time for service or meetings!

he is not but she is.. so to get her freedom she needs evidence...
I am not saying I agree with it.. I don't.. I think it sucks..
and I am not saying he is bound by anything to tell...........he isn't a JW and doesn't have to give a rip about it..
but for her to move on............she has to have evidence or admittance of him doing something..
YES YES YES.. which is why I know that that wasn't the Truth.. or why would I upon leaving keep finding myself so blessed???
The man in my life who came AFTER I left JWs.. is awesome. Isn't my life supposed to go to hell or something? but nope.. I am happier now than I have been in my ENTIRE life!
how can members of the governing body sleep at night, when they claim to be the voice of god and so many people put faith in their twisted words?

I'm sorry for you. I don't know how I'd feel. I only left the org part of a yr ago and still haven't figured out how I feel about the blood issue. I told my bf about it and he said I am going to have to give him an awfully good reason for not taking blood before he will honor my wishes.. and right now because I am so new out, I have no idea what I believe in. So look at your brother, still in, how much more so it would be hard for him.
I know I really do have to figure out my stand. Its just that every day I realize things I thought were real aren't. I guess maybe this one isn't important either. But I am still caught up in the scripture that says not to take blood.. I don't know.

If they are already divorced, it is not adultery, no matter who the father sleeps with.
actually that is not true. If they get divorced, she does not have scriptural freedom until he has sex (or pornea) with another or even marries another. When that happens, then it goes from a legal but unscriptural divorce, to a legal and free to marry divorce. I'm on my second divorce. I left my first husband for him committing adultry and although he admitted it to me, he wouldn't to anyone else.. and at that time I was still blind and playing the JW rules so I wasnt allowed to even "DATE" for two years when finally I was granted that freedom because of acts on my exhusbands part.
I know a lot of JWs who have waited out to be free to marry. The only way to get freedom is for your ex spouse to admit to adultry, or for them to get two witnesses seeing the ex spouse in a vicarious position (like entering a hotel, or a person of the opposite sex's home for the night).. some hire investigators to get proof if they REALLY are needing to know..
