Whoa...Monty Baker's lawyer questioned Derooroo as to why he didn't read the statements.
"Was it because they were made by people who were speaking out against the JWs?"
(sic)
Something like that.
Excellent question.

She is good. So good.
Notice she is wearing slacks. Power dressing.
She has him talking to her like he talks to "sisters". He has his 'teaching to women' posture and voice going. He slips to his 'authorative posture', including taking his glasses off at one point and looking disdainfully and waiting patiently for her. Perfect display of how elders talk to women.
Oh my. What a performance.

oppostate: The lawyer for the complainant (BCG) named Ms. David was getting quite exasperated. Quite a contrast to the cool and smooth Mr. Stewart. But the important thing is that they're not letting de Rooy get away with much.
That's just her style. I think she is trying to appear sort of frazzled - it is working, De Rooy was really fumbling around for answers. She frazzled him too.
She seems pretty cool, actually. For the second time that I have seen, she has stood right up, fired off a question, got her answer, and then...apologized and introduced herself to the court. There is method in her delivery. Don't forget that she knows what the elders think of women.
the elder just being questioned is yet another sly manufacturer of deceit and the use of theocratic warfare.. how can these men say the can't remember when it's their own letters, their own implemented policies.
hell, it's their own books and magazines the commission is using, along with internal letters etc.
another dry mouth there........as he sat up all alone and experienced first hand the faith building experience of ....speaking with a thick tongue as all his juices dried up.........
Those elders have been heavily coached as to what to say. The overlap between separate testimonies is marked.
First off, they are all lying through their teeth that they didn't read BCG's statement. They sit up there on the stand and deny, deny, deny, Yet, they speak in glowing detail of all the love and support she had. They "thought of her like a daughter". While all along, all they were doing was ensuring she got married off - their idea of what would "cure" her.
They had soooo much care and love for her. But Bowditch, and now de Rooy (I can't remember how the other two responded,) neither even flinch when they are told about her suicide attempt. They don't miss a beat - their answer is an immediate "No" And they show no emotion whatsoever when discussing her suicide attempt. Loving, caring elders, who, so they claim, were hearing of that right there, for the first time.
They have all read everything given to them - why they are stumbling is they sometimes can't remember what they are supposed to say, or their brains can't follow a resonable line of questioning.
I love how Stewart nailed his ass for not considering that listening to the testimony of Ali would make him no longer "objective"!
Oh! And they all have played "the father" card. Right on cue.

Wow. de Rooy couldn't even scrape up one single bibble verse he may have shared to comfort BCG. Surley he could have said..."I may have shared this lovely passage from...".
But, no. Not one flipping scripture of comfort. So well bibble trained. Huh. He sure can trot out the punishment verses and the almighty LAW of the Bibble at the drop of a hat.

Aude: deRooy stated: My view is that 'legal' matters can be taken to court.
What other sorts of matters would court consider. Aren't 'legal' matters the ONLY thing that courts of law consider???
Lol! I started laughing when he tried to explain "legal matters". Someone should cut that clip and call it "Law for Dummies".

Umm...maybe I am just seeing things.
I think the WT lawyers are using hand signals and such to coach him on what questions to answer. And when to not remember.
The guy to the far left of the screen - the slack jawed one. And blondie sure has some animated movements.
Can they do that? Maybe they can...

Huh. Rooy is sure getting questioned about the "two witnesses" in Deuteronomy.
It just occured to me who the "two or three witnesses" are supposed to be. I think it is supposed to mean that the body of elders were required to be the 'witnesses' and they didn't do their job - they were supposed to be her witnesses.
And did you notice this? BCG was only a witness in the appeal hearing. She was not considered to be a victim/accuser.

Holy Aussies...
Justice McClelland ended on a fine note. He got JW elder to say that civil law can over ride Biblical law.
Ding! Round one. The opponent is bruisied and bleeding. This ain't pretty. This is long, drawn out and dirty fighting. Rooy is being taken to the cleaners. He is putting on a shameful performance. Utterly shameful.
*to add - I forgot to mention...pathetic. Simply pathetic.
Yay Stewart! I love his stamina. He isn't even breathing hard.
